Been here on two occasions late office X'mas party last week and a surprise birthday party for my husband this past summer. The X'mas party was the most fun I've had for our staff parties thus far. The food was plentiful, the drinks spot on and the selection on the jukebox was limitless. A good time for any size group! Both times were a lot of fun.

    Loving the game!

I cannot fathom why this place only has 3.5 stars. Granted we have only been here once but we…read moredefinitely will be back. Another great location walking distance from Hotel Donaldson where we are staying during our anniversary visit to Fargo. We both loved our signature drinks - me the Equinox Martini and my spouse the Churchill's Breakfast (SO GOOD). We both ordered the short rib and when I tell you it was delicious...tender, flavorful, plated and presented well...believe me. We had dessert as well and I am not going to lie we both were not just impressed but got a little emotional. Yes we'd had a couple drinks but they were that good. Angelfood french toast with whipped cream and a berry glaze, and ... let me pause and collect myself ... chocolate chip croissant bread pudding. Perfect 'soaked but firm' texture and not too sweet. The chocolate flavor stood out for being rich but not cloying. Loved it. All this in a cool atmosphere with great staff - servers, hostess, bar...everyone was great and on their game. Highly recommend.

This place is super cool and I REALLY wanted it to be a homerun. Well, it wasn't. So, with that, I ended up ordering the meatloaf and wish I hadn't. Restaurant meatloaf is never like homemade, and this was no exception. It was trying to hard, and just fell flat on it's face. My wife didn't like her fish, either. Probably a better bar than restaurant, but when you're on vacation you get to try new things! Anyway, I would go here to grab a drink with friends, as the decor was pretty awesome, I just wouldn't shoot for dinner.

Nice spot! The server was friendly, but it seems everyone in Fargo is nice…read more The restaurant is very cozy and has, what I imagine is an authentic Irish pub atmosphere. I've never been to Ireland, so I can't exactly confirm that LOL. Most of the food was good, with one exception, the beef stew. It tasted like what I imagine dog food would taste like, bland and no flavor! The burgers, on the other hand, were delicious! The beef tasted incredibly fresh, like it came from locally raised cattle. If you're dining here, pass on the stew and go straight for the burger.

There is a specific kind of comfort found in the weight of a heavy wooden door and the gleam of a…read morewell-polished bar. At the Blarney Stone, located within the historic bones of the Hotel Donaldson, the stage is set for a masterclass in the traditional Irish pub experience. It is a space that feels curated rather than accidental--a sanctuary of dark leathers and flickering light that promises an escape from the biting North Dakota wind. The Canvas The location is undeniable. Sitting at the corner of Broadway and 1st Avenue, it occupies the literal and figurative heart of downtown Fargo. Inside, the architecture does the heavy lifting: the high ceilings and segmented seating areas offer a sense of intimacy that is rare in the era of open-concept dining. It is a "big room" that manages to feel like a collection of private snugs, perfectly suited for a long afternoon of market watching through the street-side windows. The Draught and the Plate The selection here is the establishment's strongest suit. With over 30 beers on tap, the menu moves fluidly from the essential Guinness pour to local craft favorites. For those looking for something more fortifying, the whiskey and Scotch collection is arguably the most respectable in the region. * The Fare: The menu is a dependable lineup of "pub grub" with a Celtic leaning. The Irish Nachos--waffle fries topped with a signature "Dublin Dip"--are a crowd favorite, and the Shepherd's Pie offers the kind of starchy, savory warmth one craves in this latitude. The food is decent, hitting the expected marks of a high-end tavern without necessarily aiming for culinary reinvention. The Human Element However, a pub is more than the sum of its architecture and its inventory; it is a living organism fueled by its staff. While the "bones" of the Blarney Stone are magnificent, the soul of the experience currently rests on the shoulders of the team. In a space this grand, the atmosphere requires a certain intentionality from the staff to bridge the gap between "a place to sit" and "a place to be." There are moments when the energy in the room feels dormant, waiting for a spark of hospitality to fully activate the historic surroundings. The difference between a good night and an unforgettable one here often comes down to the engagement of the crew--the small gestures of "pub culture" that make a guest feel like a regular before they've finished their first pint. The Verdict The Blarney Stone has everything it needs to be the definitive crown jewel of Fargo's pub scene: a premier location, a stellar drink list, and a gorgeous interior. It is currently a very good spot that is only a few degrees of "team-driven energy" away from being truly legendary. If the atmosphere can be brought to the level of the architecture, it will be hard to beat.
