Homemade corned beef hash
Malisa R.

My husband and I came here for breakfast. Great spot for breakfast or lunch. They serve breakfast all day too! Lots of parking for cars and snowmobilers. We went by car since it was soooo cold. Once we got there, we were greeted by a really nice hostess. She seated us in a booth. We wanted latte with breakfast and let us know Uproot is owned by the same owners so we could order a coffee online and bring it over if we pick it up ourselves. So nice! For breakfast, my husband order then homemade corned beef hash with sourdough toast. I ordered the Irish skillet with cinnamon bread. Both were delish! We hung out for a bit before battling the cold. Definitely would go back!

Chicken noodle soup- yum!

This was such a delightful surprise! Breakfast is served all day, who doesn't love that? The menu has plenty of great options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so there's something for everyone. Service was fantastic, and all the food is homemade in-house, which really shows in the flavor. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. We came for dinner and enjoyed chili, chicken noodle soup, cornbread, fried mushrooms, pretzel bites, corn nibblers, and a cheeseburger with fries. Everything was tasty and satisfying. Corn nibbler app is a must! One note: I'd skip the peach pie, the peaches are frozen and, in my opinion, not worth the calories. If you're craving something sweet, head next door for ice cream instead! They close 8pm even on the weekends and can get busy but inside is clean and lots of tables.

Good food, good vibes, and BONUS and clean and good smelling bathroom. Attention to detail always wins me over. Great place for a pitstop!

This is a great local spot that we stop at every year after our skip trip for a delicious breakfast. The service is always fantastic and they make sure to get you seated and fed fast. We love their pancakes, skillets and omelettes. I have seen many other breakfast items come out of the kitchen that also look amazing though. Can't really go wrong here.

We looked up for a restaurant that would fit for my big family. While entering we noticed how filled the place was. Most times this is a great indication that the food would be bussin. Tammy was our waitress and was just an absolute sweetheart. I ordered the Pork Ribs and it was delicious. But what I really loved was the cheese that was served with the pretzel bites. Everyone at our table was pleased with their meals. If we are ever back in town we will definitely stop here again. The shop next to the restaurant was very cute.

Anvil breakfast (too much for me)

Traveling through MANCELONA, I have always wondered about Iron Skillet so my sister and I stopped for breakfast. The service was excellent and everything was clean in the restaurant. I had biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs. My sister ordered the Anvil Skillet, which had everything but the kitchen sink. She enjoyed her meal. I guess I just wasn't very hungry but my biscuits were super fluffy and soft and the eggs were perfectly done. They have the small home town feeling and I'd recommend this restaurant.

The Southern Skillet. Yummy!!!!

Totally worth the 20 minute wait. Excellent food and service. The Southern skillet (country fried steak, eggs, hash browns, sausage gravy, and cheese) is one of the best I've ever had. On top of that you cam get a single serving of sausage and a biscuit We'll be back for sure!

My family eats here often, and the food is always fantastic. The bisquits and gravy are a favorite! Then, there's also the broasted chicken. Oh, and the skillets!! The staff is (almost) always friendly, and service is fast. It's a go-to for us! This place is ALWAYS clean. Even the restroom.

What a great little mom and pop spot in Shanty Creek! The dude behind the bar was awesome and the…read morefood was made with love. The spicy fried pickles were solid. Not too hot and had a great crispy texture. It was the pizza that did it for me. I ordered a personal pizza, no sauce, pepperoni, pineapple, and jalapeño. Yes, pineapple belongs on pizza! The crust was the star. But I love how it came out hot and the cheese had such a sick cheese pull. When you're up here, make sure you visit this spot. The servers and bartenders made our group feel at home! Also, I know the bartender didn't think I noticed... but I was really appreciative of him not changing the golf tournament we were watching when the guy requested the Tigers game. Mad respect there.

If you're seeing a giant neon PIZZA sign you've found it. The food itself was okay enough but nothing overly special, especially for the price. The atmosphere was very comfortable though and the guy who runs the place seems to care a lot which was nice to see. They also have live music if you're into that. All in all I'd say if you're on the resort (or staying less than a mile away like we were) it's a good close option but I wouldn't drive out of my way to eat here.

I really liked the GF pizza crust. I ordered a chicken quesadilla, but served on the pizza crust. The crust was good and chewy--chewy bread is rare for GF diners. After exploring other restaurants around lately, we decided to give the Clam a try again. Glad we did. Service Our waitress was great. Patient while we decided and helped with our lunch choices. Food We got a Rodeo burger and the Chicken Quesadillas. Both were really good. The spicy Rodeo sauce for the burger was nice. Chicken quesadillas was plentiful and really good. Price Compared to other places around the Clam was reasonably priced. Especially considering the dishes were tasty. Restaurant The Clam had a nice feel. Tables spaced nicely. Everything looked clean. You can be seated outside on the sidewalk cafe if you'd like. Nice place. Summary We'll be back. I'll be trying the pizza next. It looked great and seems that it was a popular choice. Considering so many tourist trap restaurants around Cadillac and Lake City, the Clam seems to be a good go to.

After numerous friends telling me " You have to eat at Walloon Inn you would love it, the food is…read moregreat and of course the view across the lake is spectacular ". Well I couldn't get a reservation in the fall so my girlfriend and I tried again while taking a ski trip to Boyne Mountain . Yes, The location and ambiance is fabulous . We were graciously greeted and sat at table # 1 right by the windows looking out to the frozen lake truly a great table. Our waitress Janice a local greeted us and was very nice. Janice did a great job going through the menu which I will added the prices were very fare . The wine and cocktail list were also impressive with a wide offering in price and choice. We decided on a Malbec to start. Then they brought out a the welcoming taste of salmon pate on a cucumber which we both found to be very tasty . After reviewing the menu we chose to bypass an appetizer for fear of just getting too much food and not finishing our dinner . After I told my girlfriend how good whitefish is in Michigan we both ordered that instead of the salmon or short ribs that also looked enticing. . Before our entree was served we had the warm bread and garlic butter that was terrific and tempting to eat the whole basket . Our dinners were served very quickly even though the restaurant was sold out . As we took the first bites of the white fish I was extremely disappointed . The breading had absolutely zero seasoning or flavor . The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly but the breading was completely flavorless taking away from the fish. Neither of us finished the dish and my girlfriend tried adding salt just to get some flavor but it didn't make it any better . I was going to order dessert but we were so disappointed after our dinner we chose to bypass dessert . . I did order a coffee since they didn't have cappuccino. I will say the coffee was very good , but what good restaurant doesn't have a cappuccino machine . As a side note the bathroom very nicely decorated in old wine box shingles on the wall and was very clean . I gave 3 stars simply because the Walloon Inn has been around so long and highly acclaimed as one of the better restaurants in the area. This was very disappointing . I may come back with my business partner and hope my experience will be better . Until next time .
