I've eaten pizza all the way from Lombadi's in Little Italy (NYC) to Seattle's 2AP. I'm a connoseuier. Moose's is among the best of the best. They have a uniquely chewy, thin, crisp, crust and lean a little to the greasy side, but in a really really good way. This is not your typical chain store delivery pizza. I love it!! The atmosphere is dark, a little loud, and a little uncomfortable. It's all worth it for the pizza and a cold beer. I highly recommend Moose's. read more

Some of the best pizza on the west coast I've ever had. It's not authentic Italian, but it's as good as any American style pizza can get. The prices are extremely fair, 13$ for a gluten-free combo pizza with spiced to perfection with added Jalepenos! The sandwiches are looking great, the beer is dirt cheap. A pitcher of Irish Death is $10 which is about 4 pints. Grab a cup of peanuts, rip them open one by one and toss them all over the floor. It's tradition. We arrived here on a quest for pizza and that's what we got. To be real, this place is dark, has a dirty, inside-of-a-gerbil-cage floor, carvings on the wall, and little to no service. It wasn't really clear where we were supposed to order and I felt a little overwhelmed when I walked in. But after my eyes adjusted, I enjoyed the oddly perfect coexistence of family-atmosphere and bar-atmosphere, and once our pizza arrived (about 40 minutes after ordering) it was goddamned delicious. Of course, I was so hungry by then that I would have eaten a shoe, but I think it would have been good in any case. Local favorite for lunch or dinner. Sandwiches are great, but they are known for their pizza. Do not wear sandals, flips flops or any open shoe as the floor is covered in sawdust. Ok, the Pizza was actually decent. But there were some issues. 1. It was not evident to a new comer that you have to order at a very small window behind the bar. It is crowded and you can't tell from the doorway. So we sat at a table for a while before we figured it out. 2. The menu online was not what was offered when you got there. We would have gone somewhere else for sure if the in house menu did not have what was advertised. 3. The two salads that were offered (no salad bar at night) were over 10 dollars. Pretty expensive. 4. When we asked about some of the beers on tap, the guy responded, 'I have no idea - I don't even like beer.' 5. The place looked and smelled dirty. 6. BIGGEST ISSUE in my opinion: They don't take credit or debit cards. Oh but they do have a very expensive little ATM machine right there that you can get cash from to pay for your dinner. read more

So, I must admit, I am slightly biased when it comes to Moose's pizza, having been one of those fortunate few who grew up in God's Country. The pizza is simply the best I have ever had. The atmosphere is about what you would expect in a saloon. Dimly lit, sawdust and peanut shells all over the floor, TV's with sports on, poker machines, and friendly and professional bartenders getting you your beer while the wait staff gets you your food. It can get loud at times, but not usually during lunch, unless there is a softball tournament or rugby festival in town. When you order pizza or sandwiches, make sure to bring cash as they don't take cards. Yeah, that is a little bit of a pain sometimes, but oh well. There is an ATM right in the saloon if you don't have cash. I have spent the last 25 years of my life in the military away from Montana. Every time we came home, we brainwashed our kids with Moose's pizza. During their youthful years, they always said they preferred the national pizza chains more, blasphemy. As they have grown and experienced life all over the country, they now realize it is the best. When we are home to visit relatives, it is mandatory to eat there at least once, if not more. I have never eaten one of their sandwiches, but my parents, other relatives, and old friends all love them. Unfortunately, I have never been in town long enough to try one of their sandwiches as I have never quenched my ravenous appetite for their pizza. Maybe someday. During our last visit there, my daughter and I were ordering lunch on the way out of town at Frugal Burgers (another outstanding Kalispell institution). My wife informed me she didn't want a burger for lunch. I asked her what she wanted to eat on the road and she replied Moose's, even though we had just eaten there the night prior. Who was I to argue with good taste? A short 20 minutes later we were on our way out of town with my wife smiling and enjoying her own black olives and mushroom Moose's pizza. Order a pizza, and an ice cold beer in a goblet, or by the pitcher and enjoy the unique, dark saloon atmosphere where every surface has been carved in to and you can throw your peanut shells onto the saw dust covered floor while you wait for your pizza. When you get it you will love the crunchy crust that is dusted in corn meal. The sauce is mild and savory and compliments the salty cheese and toppings of your choice. How many "saloons" does a city-boy like me ever come across in his lifetime? ( 0 if I am lucky). ~ It's set along a busy street in the town of Kalispell, but inside the swinging doors (gosh just like a REAL cowboy saloon!) the place has not changed in a hundred years. ~ Every single inch of woodwork in the place has had initials or death threats carved into it. Sawdust on the floor isn't put there for ambiance. The cash register is 150 years old at my best guess - and at first I thought it was a prop - but the bartender used it all night to ring up patrons! ~ The people who frequent the joint are beyond scary. It was okay, we are new to the area so some locals suggest we try it for the pizza. We brought our two year old in and felt completely out of place. It's a super dark bar that feels more like a casino. The service at the bar wasn't the best either. Felt like they didn't really care to serve us. Working in a customer service establishment myself, I expect someone friendly, but I guess that's expecting too much. The pizza was thin and the crust was too hard for my two year old to eat.
