Bought 4 cupcakes on a recent Saturday afternoon. All were dry and crumbly and had hard, stale icing. I paid top dollar (over $20) for 4 stale cupcakes. I really hate to drop a one star on any place, and especially a vegan place but really that's a fair assessment of my experience here. I picked up some cupcakes from mo pweeze yesterday and was incredibly underwhelmed. For starters, the icings had a strange almost bleach/detergent taste to them. The cake part was moist however didn't have much of a taste. I would also like to add that the salted caramel cupcake had a wire in it. I have pictures to show. Not bad but not good - just O.K. It's always nice having dessert options in your hometown. I have no allergies - i love treats. I've had my experience with vegan desserts in New York City. Some of the places ive been to make it very hard to discern the difference between vegan, gluten, allergen free vs traditional creations. I picked up French Toast, Double Choco, Sani-Bani Vanilla Strawberry, One Love and i believe another vanilla variety. All of the lighter color had this similar texture/taste. I can't place what it was but almost like a corn bread texture and taste. Out of the 5 cupcakes purchased. The French Toast was the best tasting one but only hinted at French Toast. The Chocolate ones were a bit over-powering and not to my liking. Who am i kidding. I am not a big chocolate person but the chocolate was different than what i am used to. As pointed out in other reviews the frosting was closer to stiff than soft. The icing was extremely sweet. Shaving it down to a glaze still gave it more kick than needed but balanced out the cake and icing much better. The cake itself was a bit crumbly and not moist. I will go back just to see some of their other flavors that caught my eye but weren't in-stock. It's a decent treat if you find yourself jonesin' for cupcakes and happen to be in the area. I was hoping for that great bakery smell when I walked in. All I could smell was formaldehyde​! I ordered the mac n cheese and a doughnut, both were terrible and had the odor of, formaldehyde. Best cupcakes! I was very impressed by the taste, texture, and variety of their cupcakes. A lot of times, allergen free baked goods can have a strange texture when compared to the original ingredients, but I was excited that these did not or if they did, it was very minimal because I did not notice. As a vegan going on two years, it was an exciting moment when I noticed that a vegan/allergen-free bakery would be opening in the region soon. My first trip was one week after opening day. I was greeted warmly by a young man behind the counter. After much hemming and hawing (I'm not used to being able to choose anything off the menu!), I decided on the apple pie cupcake. It was incredibly moist and delicious without being overly sweet. My next experience was at the Sparta Farmer's Market where Mo'Pweeze had a table set up with a limited variety of treats. I decided on the Moo's Choco Choc this time and brought it home to enjoy that evening. Maybe it was because I kept it refrigerated for a few hours, but this one was a bit drier. It was still tasty and enjoyable, but definitely needed the coffee I sipped to wash it down. We ordered both my son's 5th and 7th birthday cakes from Mo Pweeze and needless to say the cakes looked fabulous both times. Our son has multiple food allergies and Christine was exemplary in how seriously she worked with us to ensure her cakes would be completely safe. The Lego-themed cake they made for us was a huge hit and we received many comments on how cool the cake was. To the commenters who complain about texture, I would advise them to try baking without wheat flour, eggs, butter, etc. to see how challenging this can be. I have been experimenting at home for years and I can certainly appreciate the fine results from Mo Pweeze. I would highly recommend Mo Pweeze and we'll certainly be coming back for more. read more

This vegan bakery is located in Denville, NJ but I first met them at the Vegfest in Philly this year. When I passed their table, they had an array of aesthetically pleasing baked goods like cookie pies, mini pies, breads, cupcakes, and more. It was heaven and I had such a difficult time deciding what to buy because I was limited on money to spend. I ended up buying one of those maddy pies that was chocolate with blue icing and cinnamon raisin bread. All of their goods were vegan, gluten free, and free of several other allergens. I just spent $4 on a rather small cupcake. The frosting was actually pretty yummy if you don't mind very sweet. The cupcake itself tasted like it was made from sawdust. I took two bites (second one was just to confirm!) and had to throw it away. Maybe it has to do with being gluten free - I'm vegan not GF. Emailed them to see if they could do themed cupcakes for a birthday party. They confirmed yes they could do them for the day/time/theme, then later said I would have to re-confirm I want them done by a certain deadline that day. Needless to say it was in the middle of the day and I was at work. They failed to call me to let me know they needed me to confirm a second time and just emailed me saying sorry too late can't help. Denville is so lucky to have Mo Pweeze on its roster of amazing bakeries. They are great alternative for anyone who has allergies or prefers a plant-based diet. I got cupcakes for my sister who has allergies and thought they stayed fresh the next day. They have a ton of fun flavors beyond what you would typically find at a grocer for a vegan option, so that is welcomed surprise. Some i liked more than others, but they sell their mini cupcakes in a variety pack, so I purchased that to be safe. read more

I think it's a great place for those that have food allergies and the customer service is great. They get credit for creativity but the cupcakes that I tasted were just not delicious :(. I ordered a custom cake from Mo'Pweeze for my sister, who is allergic to dairy, eggs, and nuts. The cake was beautifully decorated, and if you haven't tried the chocolate raspberry combination, I definitely recommend it! We were so pleasantly surprised to find this spot, as we have a 1 year old with severe food allergies and hoped to be able to find a cake for his birthday. From the easy ordering process (done mostly online, via email and then with one quick call to confirm details) to the cake itself, it was a great experience. I don't like to write bad reviews. I am only writing this review because I care about the vegan community and I have been to vegan for 2 years and have I had delicious baked goods from various places. My husband had a craving for a vegan donut and I suggested Mo Pweeze since we were in the area. We were planning on getting a few treats and eating it after dinner. My husband was interested in the maddy pies which I told him was a version of a whoopie pie . We were able to find the place and the bakery is small and had a few items. We purchased a linzer tart, shortbread cookie sandwich, brookie, and 2 Maddy pies. We were really disappointed. The maddy pies had an after taste in my opinion. The brookie didn't have enough flavor. The linzer tart was okay but crumbly . I do like the actual space and the kids play room next door but they have to improve upon the actual product. Again I dislike writing bad reviews I'm doing this honestly to be helpful because there are quite a few vegan bakeries in New Jersey and with a few recipe changes maybe Mo Pweeze can become a go to place but as of now I will not return. read more

Got introduced to this company at the Nyc veg fest, honestly the best vegan cupcakes i've had on my two years of eating a plant-based diet. the frosting is so creamy just like it would be using dairy, also bonus points for the cupcakes for being gluten free. So so yummy! As a vegan with severe dairy allergies who need to be gluten conscious for medical reasons finding good baked goods is the holy grail. So happy that I can find these at all the local whole foods. I was told about Mo'Pweeze through the restaurant where I had my wedding. I was originally looking for an Allergen Friendly wedding cake but wound up buying much much more and I was happy I did! I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease and have multiple food sensitivities. Mo'Pweeze is free of the top 8 allergens and Christine was able to accommodate my other food allergies as well. My wedding cake, the zucchini bread, linzer tarts, and breakfast muffins were 100% safe and absolutely delicious and I didn't get sick! Would highly recommended read more

We were so fortunate to find Christina and mo pweeze bakery. Initially we bought our son with multiple food allergies a 12 pack of mini cupcakes to try, but once my husband and I tasted them we couldn't resist eating the whole container! She has a wonderful variety of baked options that my son was never able to try. Of the gluten free, nut free vegan bakeries he's tried, this is his favorite. While many potential bakeries use coconut, which my son can't have, mo pweeze does not. We love it! They made us a beautiful cake for my son's bar mitzvah and several guests told me it was better than the 'regular' dessert options. read more

Cristine is a genius! She truly understands the science of baking and the importance of making sure ingredients are safe for her customers, even those with the most unique allergies. I feel like I could say no liquid, no dry ingredients, and no oven and she would say "Give me a couple days and I will figure it out!" Even when the typically crucial ingredients for any recipe need to be omitted, she will work on it until she can create something allergen free absolutely DELICIOUS! Cris also cares about quality, uses organic ingredients and never cuts corners. Most importantly for me, I used to have to purchase separate desserts for our Vegan Gluten Free guests, (usually fruit), but not anymore. Mo'Pweeze Bakery made my 6yr old daughter her first birthday cake ever bought from a bakery. She has multiple severe allergies and some not in the top 8. Christine was wonderful going back and forth with me trying to figure out alternatives to her other not as common allergies. We ended up with exactly what we wanted. We even sent a picture of the design and it was beautiful. My daughter, her friends, our family were over the moon. To top it off the cake was delicious! People were commenting on how they liked it better than a "regular" cake. It was worth the 1hr 15min drive to pick it up and the price was completely reasonable. I was so excited to find Mo'Pweeze. My son has peanut, dairy and egg allergies so I had assumed that I would never be able to buy him a bakery cake. I bought some cupcakes to test them out assuming they would taste odd and the texture would be off...so many things free of the top 8 allergens aren't very good. My assumptions were wrong. The cupcakes were delicious and that endorsement came from colleagues who hadn't been dairy/egg free for months, as I had been. Finding a bakery that I can use for my son would have been enough to make me happy, but finding one that actually makes cakes/cupcakes that I can serve to everyone else makes this allergy momma want to cry tears of joy. If there is ZERO star I would do it. first of all, I order a cake from this place for my son first birthday and it was a day before his birthday and she charged us an extra money $10 for that which I didn't mind at all I paid the price she said BUT I DIDN'T GET WHAT I WANT WHAT I PAID FOR. 1) I ordered a funded cake and she charged us $40 for a funded cake that what we paid for .... what we get is a regular cake have a funded top only and none of the characters is outstanding as we order it's just printed pic which is way cheaper so we paid an extra money for nothing .she said that she gonna charge us $10 + $40 to do the funded cake in a short time. 2) this is the worst cake I ever taste before it doesn't taste like a cake it's like a piece of sugar and it's hard and not fresh I actually throw most of it. none of my guests eat it everyone took a small piece and couldn't finish it because it's NASTY. If it's something to be returned I would return it. 3) SO....SO EXPENSIVE and doesn't worse the money I paid on it. I used to go on a place in Bayonne it's far but it is much much better in taste and price it's like less than the half of the price I paid here. I paid $140 for this NASTY CAKE. I didn't go to pick it up with myself I sent on of my friends and he doesn't know what we ordered so he just grab it and come to the party if it's me I wouldn't take it, I didn't expect all of this gonna happen we paid the money before we saw anything in the day we made the order we trusted them but nobody should trust them again. read more

I ordered a gluten free vegan cake for my daughter's birthday, I was a first time customer. Chris on the phone went over everything, including the ganache filling, cake flavor size, writing, decorations and frosting and was very helpful. She told me that I would need to leave a deposit, something I have never been asked to do before. So I left a $20 deposit and she told me the cake would be $45, I brought in $25 when I picked it up. I thought this was pricey, but hoped the cake would be delicious and my daughter would enjoy it. When I got to the store the clerk told me I owed not $25 more, but $30! bringing the cake total to $50 for a 6" cake - the increase she said was because of the ganache filling, which I had already discussed on the phone before I was given the total price and told what the remaining balance would be- the total price on the receipt read $45, not $50, and the ganache filling was included right on the receipt which totaled $45! The clerk insisted that I owed $5 more, so I paid, hoping this cake was going to be outstanding at that price. When we served it, we were so disappointed by how dry and tasteless the cake was. practically inedible. I would never consider using this bakery again at such a high price and low quality. I will be making the longer drive to Phillipsburg to Buttercup Bakery when I need something vegan and gluten free, their baked goods are always moist, fresh and delicious (and more reasonably priced). read more

I ordered a custom cake for my nephews second birthday. I had ordered a two-tier giraffe cake, and was assured along the way that the cake would be perfect. When I went to pick up the cake, it was beautiful but it was only one-tier. I had already paid for two-tiers and they weren't even aware of the error until I mentioned it. They also didn't offer a solution to the problem, I had to suggest that they give me cupcakes to make-up for the lack of a second tier. You'd think if you made a mistake as big as forgetting to make HALF of a cake, you'd be more apologetic and proactive in finding a way to make it up to the customer. The fact that I had to be the person to come up with a way for them to make up for their error is astounding. It's a shame because the cake was beautiful and I would have loved to make this my go-to bakery since my nephew is allergic to pretty much everything, but its such a huge error and the way they went about it was awful. They should work on their internal communication and their problem-solving skills. read more
