Good first impression. Ordered for pickup and was ready 15 min. early. Edamame was perfectly cooked, although under salted (easily rectified). Fire Roll was delicious, could have used more heat but super fresh & bright. Would love to see dark rice option. Definitely will be back. read more

However, I am very perplexed on how they have flyers out promoting happy hour specials from 5 to 7 Tuesday through Friday yet when I got there at 6:30 they wouldn't honor it. I worked a long shift today and rushed to get there in time for a $12 sushi roll and discounted cocktail. Instead I spent $45 for edamame, an appetizer, and sake. Please honor what you promote. Had lunch here today (10/26/19). I have had Asian and I have had Tapas. However, I have never had Asian Tapas . Looked at the Yelp page and saw some beautiful works of delicious art. I was excited. Even after arriving I was double excited by the lone beautiful server, Liz. I took a friend, and since she had never had this type of food, it was game on from the time of arrival. I ordered the wings, Samurai (the rolls in the pictures with lobster in them), Phillipino Adobo Rice, Lemongrass beef skewers and orange chicken skewers (not seen). As pretty as this food appeared it lacked any POP, any FLAVOR beyond the item itself. I was deeply disappointed. Pretty attractive food that was, at best, ok! Smh. 3 stars for the presentation and attractive service person. You can get better flavor elsewhere. I highly recommend doing that unless you like "just ok"! read more

I wanted to like Mora and was super excited for it to open because it is right by my place. Maybe because I was waiting for it to open for so long I had high too high of expectations. The place looks very nice. It has a good balance between simple and sleek Japanese style. Huge bar as well. Before I get to the food let me say all of the staff was very nice, and some of this negative comes from trying new things which I didn't really end up liking. Also, I thought there would be more vegetarian sushi options, but seemed like standard ingredients, and because I wasn't all that excited I chose something else. First, we started with drinks and the brussel sprout salad. Brussel Sprouts are becoming the new kale/ avocado craze. And I recently tried them grilled or something and thought they were good. Everything in the salad was good except the brussel sprouts. Maybe I'm just not used to how the were cooked, its seemed like they were dried/dehydrated to make them crispy which gave off a metallic aftertaste. The texture and dressing on the salad were really good though. I ordered a drink that had bourbon and limoncello, but the limoncello seemed absent. Although the drink was pretty with a giant ice ball in it. My boyfriend's drink was not that good either. Drinks are somewhat one noted. Then I dared try the green curry tofu. I knew it was going to be spicy and it was. I just personally did not like the flavor of it and the tofu was just too soft. Like soggy bread. All of the pieces were large, they should probably make the pieces smaller or bite size and use a more firm tofu. I was left a little hungry and thought about ordering a roll just to make me more full and I decided against it. Cause I thought I would be disappointed with it. Decided against dessert because all they had was mochi, they really must not care about dessert Then we got the bill and I was glad I didn't. The bill was about $75 for two drinks an app and two main dishes. These are not entrees large enough to total that price. Now while it does all seem fresh, it also does not seem they are using ingredients that are unique enough to justify the price. I just was honestly a little surprised with the price. If it was cheaper I would go in and try something g else and see if I liked it better. That was the deciding factor for me that I won't be going back. read more

We had reservations this past Friday. The restaurant was not full however we were seated next to a family of five with small loud children. One strike. We ordered signature cocktails, two were tasty however the mai tai consisted of sweet and sour with a splash of rum (not good). We proceeded to order vodka martinis with blue cheese olives by the time the drinks arrived we all could have been in wheelchairs living in nursing homes. We received dirty martini's which we did not order, they were brought back and had a long wait for the correct drinks. BTW, the glass size is extremely small. We ordered appetizers which were tasty and the rolls we ordered were exceptional. Service was very slow, bartender seemed incompetent however the food was good. Second thoughts on returning. This has been one of the better take-out experiences during Covid - the food is delicious, and it carries well. We order a mix of 6-7 appetizers and then a few sushi rolls and handful of pieces. The green beans, the kale salad, the adobo rice, the shrimp are faves. You can get the lumpia but it's not special. Never been disappointed with our order. But the value for money ratio is not really happening. Many dishes are sinply overpriced for what they are in quality and size. Then, please do not serve $13 cocktails in little plastic cups; that is really tacky. While the beer came with chilled glasses. Cocktails are hit or miss; my whiskey cocktail was nice, the margarita was a sour-mix mess. The craft cocktails were interesting and delicious! The owner was there and extremely kind. Do not order the California roll!! It's not that they used imitation crab--it's that the texture was very stringy and just did not taste good. The salmon roll was fine. Maybe their other dishes are better (EG the filipino dishes)--but I'd rather go to a more authentic place for that. I think this place would do better if they focused their menu on just two asian cuisines instead of trying to cover so many. Miso soup was fine, but I've had better. Owners please pay attention to reviews!!! This will be a three strikes and you're out case ONLY because this restaurant is within a walking distance for me. I've been there twice now. There is a clear and evident lack of service. 1st time: Thursday evening approx 7:30PM. Two empty tables for 4 and no one waiting. No one on her reservations list and the hostess extremely difficult in seating my party of 2. Her argument: Someone may come in who has 4 people. She runs around looking for a manger who then apologizes and seats us. We place our order and wait. It's now getting past 8PM and my friend's curry dish finally arrives. My sushi nowhere in sight and the restaurant is getting more and more empty. 8:15PM my sushi finally comes, but my friend is done with his meal. The whole experience sucked and food quality 3 stars here. I attributed this to the fact that they just opened and they were still figuring things out. 2nd time: Roughly a month has passed and this time with a different friend. SAME EXACT EXPERIENCE! Except this time I don't insist on getting seated at one of the empty tables in fear of having to wait 45 minutes for food so we went to Trattoria next door instead. So listen up Mora! I am willing to come one more time only because I eat sushi all the time and you're within couple blocks from me. If I don't receive a "decent" service, I'm coming back here and editing this review to 1 star and posting the same thing on Open Table. I'm expecting to be treated like a "paying customer". Former chefs from Le Colonial (French Vietnamese), but other than that a hot mess. Bartenders are terrible, the service staff is LOUSY and the place is filthy. Honestly, a threat to public health. I hope the owners read this because I want this place to succeed: please taste the food before serving it every night, please give people spoons to serve the food, please stop cheaping out on the low pours in the drinks. The servers are nice but we sat for 15 min before anyone acknowledged us and got our first food dish before our drinks. The edamame had so much salt on it I had to scrape some of it off and it was a fine salt so it was everywhere. The lumpia is good. The green beans came with some gross meat and were underseasoned. the brussels sprouts are fried to a burnt crisp. The amount of actual drink in the glasses is comical - maybe use smaller glasses then? For $14 I expect my glass at least 1/2 full. They don't give you any spoons for shared dishes s then how do we share this curry, then? read more
