Unfortunately, after completion and paying him almost $10,000 the tenants complained the roof was leaking. The roof leaked into the apartment from the living room, the kitchen and the bedroom. We called Manny well over 100 times and Manny promised to go there and fix the mistakes he and his people caused. Every time it rains, it also rains inside the apartment and the people stopped paying rent and now they moved out. This is all because of Manny and we gave him and his company many chances to correct the problem. Not only did Manny not correct the problem, Manny isn't taking our calls. So the roof guarantee from Urban NYC Builders is as useless as Manny himself. He caused the landlord significant losses because rent wasn't paid, the people vacated, we still have a bad roof and the apartment needs lots of work. The project…read morecalled for a roughly 14x16 ft slab, of 4" thick with wire mesh concrete - and most importantly the entire patio needed to be pitched toward a centered drywell, for proper drainage. For added trickiness, the backyard had no street access, other than through the house, so the concrete needed to be pumped in (which could get messy). I interviewed three contractors and found JGJ Home Improvement Corp. to be the best overall fit. We hired them to open up the first floor of our Cape Cod, and they completely helped me re-imagine the space taking down several walls to create a true open-concept layout. Along the way they installed new hardwood floors across the entire first floor, redid our shower, replaced both toilets, moved our washer and dryer, and prepped all the groundwork for our kitchen renovation. They were able to meet for a review and ensure we both had an understanding and agreement on everything we had asked for and we got their commitment to fulfill that. After we agreed to do the work, they did what they said they would do including meeting the start/end time frames. The work included a lot of residential concrete diewalk/walkway replacement work. Price was pretty reasonable. Work progress was very efficient and in the end performed well. Debris was properly removed and the area returned back to normal except with new concrete.
