Fantastic BBQ! Brisket, burnt ends baked beans, and cornbread were all really delicious. Would recommend for sure.

I've been here twice, got a pulled pork sandwich and feast for 2 "ish". Overall I found it pretty tasty, however, there were some things that mean I can't give a higher review: The good: -the meats are really tasty and juicy -great pickled veg -great beans The bad: -mac and cheese is bland -long wait times The ugly: -the amount of food in the platter for 2 'ish' is really only enough for one person. You only get 2 small sides and 2 meats for $32 dollars. If your food is expensive own it, don't pass this meal off as being enough for 2 people. Me and my boyfriend planned to share this and were seriously disappointed when we saw the size of the portion. -there is something seriously wrong with your iced tea. More than Q has excellent BBQ food. It is so hard to find a good BBQ spot in the central NJ area. Ordered the brisket, pulled pork, fried pickles, french fries, and mac and cheese. Loved everything. Right now the restaurant is only doing takeout because of COVID but its run very well and we did not have to wait long for our food. I also love the modern but rustic atmosphere inside the restaurant. The corn bread with honey butter was delicious!! Staff was friendly. Restaurant was clean. Prices seem fair. Tried this new BBQ spot in Princeton during the pandemic so we ordered takeout online. Small glitch with the online order system lost our order but with our email receipt they quickly put together our order for us and were gracious about it. The bbq beans were savory (so don't expect a sweet, over sugared flavor) and the Mac and cheese was great. The corn bread was especially a hit in our home. One serving suits one adult or can be split between a couple of kids so bear that in mind when ordering. Meat quality was superb. Prices are inline with Princeton area restaurants. TERRIBLE!!! I ordered a HOT BRISKET SANDWICH to go and got a COLD BRISKET SANDWICH. I drove straight home - I live in Canal Pointe, just 1/2 a mile from the place and started eating it.... it was cold. Since when does a hot brisket sandwich be a COLD BRISKET SANDWICH? When I called to complain, they blamed the outside temperature and offered me 25% discount if I ordered another sandwich! This is the first time in FIVE YEARS I'm leaving a negative review. Don't Buy pickles very salty. Brisket no intesity of the smoke taste. Pulled pork is ok. Collard Greens needs to lessen seasoning. Mac and cheese is not good. The barbecue sauce is not balance to vinegary taste. read more

The cornbread surprised us- in a buttery moist delicious way... we might have to order more. We chose the 3/4 pound brisket (lady suggested 1/4 - 1/2 pound per person), half rack of ribs, medium mac and cheese and 2 cornbreads. We did not finish everything (leftover ribs and mac and cheese) but I like having more than enough than being hungry. Wife and I decided to try this place finally. My only honest criticism is it's expensive and everything is a la carte. That's the only thing separating it from being 5 stars. My chicken sandwich was delicious but it's not worth $10 by itself. It's not like it's a big sandwich either. Make it a meal and it would be worth the price. My wife got the pulled pork and it was delicious. You get a little portion for the price and it was gone in a few bites. I guess I was spoiled for living in Texas where BBQ is cheap. These guys are killing it! I expected a salt bomb but was so pleasantly surprised with the high quality smoke BBQ that left us feeling great! It's great to finally have solid bbq in the Princeton area. I had been to the MTQ location in Lambertville many times before and was excited to see the coming soon posters go up. I was not disappointed. Delicious smoked meats and great sides. Last week I put in two large catering orders, selected a time online and my food was hot and ready at pick up time. They packed everything in sturdy metal tins that were easy to reheat. We enjoyed and ate off the bbq all weekend. One thing I'd note, while I typically order pork or beef at a bbq joint, don't sleep on the MTQ Fried Chicken sandwich. It's super crispy and flavorful. read more

We are big fans of both locations. But last night the chicken wings were very dry, like they had been cooked the day before. The pulled pork was equally old tasting and burned. Chili was cooked so long it was total mush. We had earlier stopped getting the ribs because they were small and dried out. Now we sadly make our exit. We will keep going to lambertville store where we have never had a problem. I emailed them about last nights disaster. Crickets. Visited with a family of 4 this weekend. I was somewhat taken back by the prices, I'm not a BBQ expert but have had enough to know this was over priced. With that said the BBQ was good, everyone enjoyed their meals, no complaints about the quality of food. Disclaimer: I do prefer European style food to usual American fare, but even accommodating for this, what I bought from this place was absolutely some of the worst food I've tried to put in my mouth in a long while. I ordered a hot dog, which curiously managed to remain dry AND greasy and tasteless at the same time (it went in the bin after 2 bites). The staff were quite friendly and helpful, and hubby was apparently starving enough that he gobbled his pulled pork something or other rather quickly, but even his (admittedly unrefined) palate pronounced it 'meh'. Pity, as the place smelled promising and looks nice-ish. Suspect if you're into American fare you'll find this acceptable if you are hungry and already at the center, but it's not probably not worth a special visit or going back for. read more

I am a passionate foodie but I do love BBQ and have traveled the country for great BBQ- Being in the Northeast finding decent bbq is a challenge-it's just not what this area of the country is known for. That being said anytime I come across a bbq spot in the NJ/NYC metro area I'm cautiously optimistic that there will be some semblance of the flavor and quality found in the meats offered in the traditional bbq strongholds of the south and the midwest. I always give them a try hoping to find a diamond in the rough so when I saw the sign for this restaurant-in the bbq barren desert of Princeton no less I was gleefully optimistic- Unfortunately They didn't meet the bar- not even close. I ordered the brisket and the ribs (its bbq of course) and the only thing good I can really say about them is that the portion size was acceptable- aside form that the meats had literally no real flavor at all. The brisket had a hint of the smoke flavoring that comes along with that method of cooking but that was it- it literally was mediocre. Same for the ribs. Good bbq is supposed to stand on it's on and the flavor that comes from the addition of sauce is supposed to be an accent not something the meat totally depends on to make it palatable. Both meats needed to be drowned in the bbq sauce in order to be enjoyed in any way. The brisket did show a nice smoke ring but aside from that nice appearance it lacked that "oh yes I'm having bbq" feeling that should accompany good bbq. The ribs also had no real flavor- You just knew you were eating meat-nothing special about it at all. The only saving grace for this restaurant with its current flavor-profile and offerings is that its pretty much the only game in town for bbq. That fact combined with it being in a geographic location where the average customer only gets to order ribs at the local Applebees which is the equivalent of a burger at McDonalds as far as good bbq is concerned. This restaurant wouldn't last two seconds in an area where they had legitimate competitors and a consumer base that was knowledgeable on what good bbq is supposed to taste like. Did not give it 1 star because that would imply that there was something wrong with the actual meat or cleanliness of the place which did not seem to be the case. The price point is fairly high but if the food was good I'd say it would be a fair tradeoff all things considered. But they simply cant cook. Absent a drastic recipe change I def will not be returning or recommending this place. Wish that was not the case but it's the truth. read more

I love BBQ - so welcome to Princeton MTQ. I've had the BBQ beans twice now in one week and I'm not suppose to eat this stuff on my diet . You can eat it alone - it just reminds me of a hearty stew and it's simply delicious (like a mom is in the back working hard to make sure the taste is consistent). I also enjoyed the wings, cornbread, collard greens, and the cobbler here. I hope everyone endorses MTQ as much as I do so that this place sticks around. I think this is the best bbq I have had in a long time! The ribs are excellent and so is the pulled pork and pulled chicken. It has a good Smokey flavor which many bBq places lack. I haven't had the sides but my husband likes the coleslaw and beans with burnt ends. They have a good bbq sauce as well. It's a nice mix of sweet and vinegar ! read more

This was my second visit. Had a brisket sandwich, fries and an ice tea. The sandwich was outstanding. Meat piled high, covered with creamy cole slaw and pickled onions. Sauce options were good, I went with sweet. Hands down, one of the best BBQ sandwiches I've ever had!!! Fries were crispy exactly how I like them. 12 oz ice tea for $3.50 is crazy but what are you going to do. Also, not a fan of the checkout having 18, 20 and 25% tip options when there are no servers, but that is everywhere these days. Not good at all compared to the Lambertville location. It appear that this location has a sort of franchise arrangement since it appears on the Get Forky website (same group that plunged PJs Pancake House into mediocrity). Went on the first day it opened: *Order took 50 minutes! Super disorganized with lots of staff standing around while only 1 person was serving up the meat in an obvious bottleneck in operations *Owners/franchisers selectivity interacting with only some guests - did not feel welcome *Person helping preparing slider sandwiches repeatedly grabbing handfuls of buns out of the container not wearing any gloves seemed very unhygienic making me wonder about cleanliness *Second visit placed an online order for a specific pick up time (given the excessive wait time on first visit) and it was prepared 20 minutes ahead of my pickup time so it was cold when I arrived - I know it was ready way early since I got a text message 20 minutes prior to the pick up time saying it was ready) *Not the same menu as Lambertville, for example only offer one size of the kale salad whereas Lambertville offers 3 read more

I've been anticipating the opening of the bbq location for months. Finally it opened so I stopped by with a friend. We were confused about the menu how it didn't really have any individual meal options, so we went with the "platter for 2ish".. with drinks and sides it came out to around 39 dollars... the amount of food we received was less than I received at other bbq places for 12 dollars. Also it had no bbq sauce or spices in it. Just plain pork and brisket.. not to mention it wasn't even hot, and we didn't let the food sit when we received it. This place was a huge let down and I probably won't be coming back unless I hear of some major changes to fix these issues that I mentioned. read more

Was in the area on 12/4 and we wanted a decent, quick meal. This was our first and last visit. Way overpriced, everything ala-carte. Plus, if you are paying via card they expect you to add a gratuity before you have your meal (I always leave cash). Total of $65.00 for two meals- one was single meat (checken) with 2 sides and soup-the other with only one side.. They want $6.00 each for a tiny container of soup or the smallest sides of baked beans or Mac and Cheese. The sauces provided on the table had the consistency of water (no exaggeration)- it was as if they were running short and added water to stretch them. Nothing had any real seasoning, the beans had almost no flavor at all. I get better and larger at Mission (and they are far from the standard bearers of BBQ)- for a third less. read more

I have been waiting for More Than Q to open at this location for 6+ months. Difficult timing to open a new place, but it is worth the visit. We ordered 1 lb each of pulled pork and brisket, a rack of ribs, cornbread, and vinegar coleslaw. Only the cornbread gets a fair rating, the rest were excellent - better than any I've had in NJ. Excellent rub on the ribs and good smoke on each of the meats. We'll be back. read more

I ordered online and picked my order up. I picked it up promptly (I got there. before the order was set out on the pick-up counter) and had a 10-min. drive home. The ribs were not hot when I got home, but the side of Mac and cheese was hot. I was disappointed in the ribs. They were fall-off-the-bone tender, BUT the meat was VERY dry. Good thing they gave me a couple containers of extra BBQ sauce which was definitely needed. The Mac and cheese was very good, but a bit pricey at $5 for a small cup. I will give them one more try, but will order a different meat next time. read more
