I really regret ever having started using this place. I sort of got conditioned to using them because the first watch restoration I brought to them resulted in what appeared to be great work. However, that watch, and four other timepieces since then, ceased to function, all very consistently after several months. After dealing with them for years, I will happy to wash my hands of their services. I actually think that Moren's biggest problem is that he doesn't know how/when to state that he just doesn't have the ability or parts or fix something. He will keep telling you he's working on it until you finally demand that he give you back your watch, in one condition or another. I consider this to be a major integrity problem for him. read more

They list their hours as 9:00am-1:00pm on Saturday. This is a lie. I went to Moren at 9:10am on Saturday, March 24, to fix my watch, but they were closed and didn't answer the phone when I called. Set whatever hours you want, but keep them once they've been posted. This is the absolute minimum standard that any business should meet. Failing to do so is irresponsible and unprofessional. read more

I'm furious at these people. They've had my watch for 6 weeks now, telling me at first, and then each time I called to check on it thereafter, that it would be an easy, quick job, just need one part, and it should be ready next week. Great. Oh - maybe the 4th time I called, about a month into it just sitting there, the owner told me that upon closer examination of the watch, another part was needed in addition to the one they'd identified at first, and that, like the other, should be in within a few days and the watch should be ready next week. Yeah - that was a few weeks ago. Since then, I've left two messages for Rob (the owner; the other guy who works there is Luis) and he never called back. Finally I called again today and asked for him, and Luis said he'd take a message. Screw that. I asked him to just send the watch back to me. He replied nicely that he understood this was frustrating, and that he might be able to get the additional part needed from some "friends." I'm like, "friends?" Like they need to deal on the black market to fix my watch. He said that it's hard to get this particular part, because the brand of watch that I have doesn't like to make available their parts. Again, they should have told me that 6 weeks ago, or even 4 weeks ago, when they first realized this. For private reasons, this watch means a lot to me, and I'm incredibly angry at the run-around I've been given by these fools. They will never get any of my business or see a dime of my money again. read more

Simply impressive establishment with not only very knowledgeable people but also excellent customer service. I took my high end time piece (AKA watch) to a smaller jeweler for replacement of the battery several weeks ago only to get it back and find the chronograph wasn't working. Rather than fooling around with these smaller/mall places, decided to research online for a place that knew how to manage nicer watches. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous. Fixed the chronograph on my watch, lubricated various parts of the watch that had gone stiff and provided tips on how to care for the watch to prevent further damage. All in 20mins. It's clear that they take pride in what they do no matter how small the task. Would recommend this place to anyone who has an expensive/high end watch that needs extra special care for repairs. Will never go to another place for my watch needs again. Great place! Great service! read more

I took 3 watches in that needed batteries and received friendly, extremely fast service for about the same price as the places in the mall. It took less than 10 minutes for him to replace all 3 batteries, plus he cleaned the watches and pointed out that one of my watches was cracked. Great service. Friendly and professional. My daughter's cheap plastic watch was given the same care as if it were a family heirloom! While waiting my turn I noticed how even a simple battery repair was taken seriously, and the inner workings of the watch were cleaned for the owner. When the work on my kiddo's watch was done I was given the instructions to "tell your daughter to enjoy her watch" and charged nothing! I also got my battery replaced for my timex ironman. The watch repairman (Luis) was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable (he received his watch repair training in Switzerland). He even set my watch's time and settings for me. It has a mom-and-pop shop feel to it. Highly recommend it. read more

I went with my friend to have her watch repaired and the service was great. In some way it reminded my of the barber shop my father took me to as a kid. The gentleman working the shop was friendly and talkative and it was like we had known him for years. He made a point to describe to us what he was doing. My experience with Moren's was fantastic. I did not check the store timings before planning a trip and arrived there at 5.20 pm..I tried to wrdge the door open..but it was locked. As I was going back up the stairs the store owner opened the door and asked me if he could help me. When I said I want a change of battery, he offered to do it for me. ..which he did in 5 minutes. Even I can break a watch for 175 Dollars. I took my Seiko automatic watch in to be serviced. Nothing was wrong with it; I just wanted him to get it to run a little more accurately and clean it. He blabbered a lot about how it works and instilled a FALSE sense of confidence in me. I came back on Monday. "Here's your watch! Running on time with all new gaskets, blah, blah, blah." That's great. However I noticed that he hadn't even wiped down the exterior and the band was dirty. "How much?" I asked. "175.00" That's how much I bought the watch for. Still, I let it slide. He assured me it was running on time. Good enough. At home, upon closer inspection, I discovered the face had been scratched. Then on Friday, I saw that the "Fri" in the watch was scratched and cracked. Also, on the 31st day of the month, I realized that the "31" had also been cracked. Surely he realized he had done all this damage when he was putting the watch back together. I'm so angry I'm not going back because I'd just end up punching his swindeling face. You suck, Moren. I don't even want you to attempt to fix it. read more

The service here is just outstanding. The owner, clean-cut-looking guy, is continuing a family tradition of watch repair. He is a scholar of timepieces and a consummate professional. Service is prompt and friendly. I really did not know what to expect the first time I walked in and saw Fox news on, but I think these guys might be more Christians than Tea Party types. Anyway, as a minority, I've never been treated better. The price is a little steep, but never out of my price range. For example, I went to have a watch band repaired on an expensive watch, and I hoped to pay $20 but was willing to go as high as $40. The cost was $35. Give these folks a try. read more

I've been taking my jewelry to Moren's for a few years, and while I have felt that they have been a bit overpriced, I was okay with it, because they do quality work and provide friendly and prompt service. However, today, I was totally thrown for a loop. I brought my Movado watch in for a simple battery replacement and a necklace that needed a new clasp. I figured it would be about $40, or maybe $50, instead, the price tag was a whopping $113. I was floored. Apparently, without contacting me, the decision was made to clean the inside of the watch (something about there was corrosion and gelling and so they took the liberty to "clean" it, and charged me $85). The watch is only a couple of years old....The necklace, which again, only needed a clasp was $28.....wow! I won't be returning for jewelry repair there anymore. I would encourage others to ask for an estimate and if additional work is required, request that you receive a call first, so there are no surprises. Not a great way to start the weekend. read more

Reviews of Moren's ability to repair luxury watches date back a number of years, but they reflect my same results as a consensus. Unfortunately, I only checked google reviews and not Yelp. I happened to be looking via google for a place to get my battery replaced in my Wittnauer, not wanting to go to a formal jeweler out of location convenience, in the downtown Silver Spring area since it was much closer to my employer than our regular jeweler. Prior to going there I called and spoke to Luis/Louis explained what I needed, he suggested that I come in to give him a better perspective on what I needed to get done. I went in Dec 4, 17, he examined the watch. He told me he could do the repair while I waited, then he stated it would be longer because he needed to change something else in my watch. He suggested I go to lunch and it would be ready upon my return, that wasn't the case. When I returned he asked could I come the next day to pick it up, to my dismay I said ok. I wanted him to get it right, so I even suggested that I'd come back Saturday Dec 9 since he obviously needed more time. I should mention that I prepaid the $95 for the battery repair so this should give you an idea of the quality of Wittnauer I have. The red flags should've gone up when he suggested my Wittnauer has somehow been corrupted by water and that once he put the battery in he'd seal it. That red flag would have been due to my Wittnauer is waterproof and came sealed, so when Louis stated these two things I became alarmed but continued with the expected service. I went back the next day, my watch still wasn't repaired, he took me up on the Saturday delivery date stating he would call me to pick up it up then. He DIDN'T call Saturday, on Monday I called, becoming more suspect about the service and abilities of Moren, Louis specifically. I called Monday, my Wittnauer was still not repaired, he didn't have a projected date of delivery of satisfactory repair. It wasn't until the following Friday that I was able to pick up my Wittnauer, it wasn't because Louis called me , I called him. When I picked up my Wittnauer, while it was left there I was concerned about maybe this is a ploy to remove the diamonds from my watch. Nonetheless, I took my watch and departed. Two weeks later my watch stopped, I didn't call Louis on this occasion. I'd already reconciled he was out of his league with repairing this caliber of watch. Low and behold, my watch stopped again, I called Louis on Jan 21, 18. He asked that I bring it back, it was at that time that I explicitly conveyed to Louis my disappointment in his service and abilities and was more than likely not going to bring it back to him. Back story, I have a penchant for luxury watches. I bought these his and her Wittnauer (2k each) watches as anniversary gifts for my spouse and I in 2007. We also have his and her Movados, Tags, Cartiers and Rolexes. My spouse's Wittnauer has only had the battery replaced once since then, I can't tell you how many times she's gone to a full spa, swimming or bathing and gotten her Wittnauer wet without recourse. Our jeweler is in Columbia and Laurel Maryland and Tyson's Virginia, she had her battery replaced by the one in Laurel. I work in the downtown Silver Spring area which is why I opted for Moren. My wife and I have had many conversations about Moren's repair, she's extremely attached to the his/her thing. The Wittnauers are the least expensive watches we have, these are the ones we wear on a daily basis. She loves her Wittnauer and the compliments she consistently gets from girlfriends about it. read more

used to be a big fan of moren's -- they were a throw back to a better time -- great service and a friendly smile. until a couple of jobs recently that took longer -- and wasn't happy about their attitude and how they resolved it with us. i think part of the problem is that they don't take good notes and so important points don't get conveyed to the person who does the work. wont go again. read more
