Morenos is a gem tucked in between hotel buildings that we enjoyed dining (and drinking!) in very much. The wait time on food orders leaves a bit to be desired, but the service more than makes up for it. We had the pleasure of meeting Jorge who was friendly and made excellent recommendations on drinks and food. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast here while staying at the hotel. Im staying on Collins ave , been around the whole beach this past week , last sunday we went with my wife for breakfast had guava waffles , some nice cuban cafecito (im still shaking from the caffeine lol) , prices are fair for the beach , but they have a happy hour untill 1pm 8$ cocktails and the mojitos were amazing , a real bang for the buck , Costas fixed me some really good mojitos , for sure the best ones i had . Went to Morenos instead of our usual Havana 1957 because we wanted to try something new. We ordered the empanadas to start. The ham and cheese was excellent however the chicken was very dry. We tried to order the beef but they were out. We also got the imperial rice which was a bit dry. Overall a good meal but didn't leave feeling super satisfied. All I can say is the vibe, the people, the food, the drinks are all amazing. Live music, always is a treat for me, and at Moreno's you will likely find someone crooning into the mike taking your breath away. Seriously, have I mentioned the coffee? When we moved two blocks away I was really excited to see morenos nearby. Our old apartment was next to tropical beach cafe and I was excited to have another Cuban cafe walking distance to frequent. Unfortunately I can't say anything about morenos as I was never served. My fiancé and I sat down, excited to finally try the food amongst the adorable ambiance. It did seem as if there was only one server, so we attempted to be patient. However, we waited and finally had to ask for a menu (which is a clear sign to a server that a table is asking you to pay attention). We waited 15 minutes, all while watching another, larger party enter, sit, be given menus and have their orders taken. Finally I went to the bar and politely asked her to come to us next. She said ok. 10 minutes later and she never came back. No acknowledgement of "I'll be right with you", etc. we finally had to leave. I'm a Miami native and have lived in south beach for almost three years. I'm usedto poor service - to an extent. This rude attitude that is so prevalent among south beach is not acceptable. I'm very sad to say we will not be frequenting this place as planned and will never recommend it. Places like morenos need to remember not everyone on the beach is a tourist who is there once and will put up with your attitude and complete disregard of customer service. read more

A hidden little Gem accessed via a hotel courtyard. Very cute but tiny bar is inside and tables are outside in a little courtyard. It's all decorated in 1950/60's eclectic decor - plastic tablecloths, old-school umbrellas (with the fringe!) and faux succulents in old liquor bottles. The food was surprisingly good and the service was INCREDIBLE! The menu was pretty simple but good. We had empanadas, salad, and Cuban sandwich - all hit the spot (although wish the sandwich had more pickles!). Drinks were well-presented and strong. My husband and I came for our anniversary dinner this past Labor Day weekend. I bought a Gilt City voucher and I'm so glad I did. What a deal! The menu looked so good and I honestly had no idea what to order, I really wanted everything. The Gilt voucher was the perfect way to try a little of everything. Our waitress Gabriella helped us so much and she was so knowledgeable of the menu that I trusted her to just order for us. I'm so glad we did cause she knocked it out the park. For apps we enjoyed a sampler of their pork sandwiches, shrimp tostones and other yummy goodness. Literally we were so stuffed from the apps that the entrées were barely touched. I mean, we still nibbled on it and they were delicious. I had the Vaca Frita and my husband the lechon. Wow!! They were even better the next day cause we had to box them up from wanting to explode! How we had room for some dessert too, I don't know but we made it happen! We had the Guava cheesecake! Just order it, don't question it! Do it! Amazing!!! I LOVED this place! Hands down, one of my favorite places I visited on my recent trip to Miami Beach. I just happened to find this place by searching yelp for "Cuban coffee", after eating dinner elsewhere, and getting a caffeine craving. So our "coffee stop" ended up turning into a 3 hour rendezvous at Mereno's . We were so pleasantly surprised by the laid back, non-touristy, boutique-like atmosphere. It was so cozy and cute, that we couldn't just leave after our coffee. We ended up moving to the bar, where we were graced with Gabriel's delicious cocktails, one after another, after another. Everything we ordered from the skinny margarita, to the special of the day, to a random drink I asked him to concoct was perfect! They had live music happening, however it started to downpour so the performer ended up stopping. We still stayed a bit longer and had a great time. Jorge & Gabriel were so welcoming. We truly enjoyed our night at Moreno's and will definitely be back when we are in Miami. This is beyond doubt a hidden gem in South Beach. Aesthetically speaking...a home run. The place looks like a beautiful backyard bar off the beach in Cuba. Service....hot and cold. We had one server that seemed like she absolutely hated life. Eye-rolling and brief responses to questions about the menu. Zero sense of urgency. However, she was replaced (shift change maybe) by a different server halfway through the meal, and he was great. Food....Mixed reviews. Steak sandwich was not good, tough overcooked meat. Cubano Clasico (which I had been craving the entire time I was in Miami) was mediocre. Not enough mojo marinated pork , overpowered by the ham and swiss. Empanadas, however, were very good - specifically the guava bacon. All in All, I feel misled by all the positive reviews on Yelp. We came here on our first night in Miami. The server really didn't have a nice attitude for coming in around 10pm on Christmas night. He acted like we came late and kind of rushed us. We ordered what they told us was their best dishes which was the Lechon with white rice and black beans and the Vaca frita. Apparently they have no idea what Cuban food tastes like or any food for that matter. The black beans tasted like they just opened a can and poured it in a bowl (TASTED LIKE NOTHING). The Lechon they say they marinate for six hours (TASTED LIKE NOTHING). The Vaca frita (TASTED LIKE NOTHING). The only thing that was SOMETHING was the bill. Remember Seinfeld, the show about nothing? This bar/restaurant was part of the hotel I was staying at and while I never sat down to eat here, I wanted to give it a try. The first thing I tried was ordering a salad for lunch to take up to the rooftop pool. I ordered a greek salad to go. The girl working the bar was extremely friendly and told me what time I should come down to pick up the food. The salad came in a little box which was convenient for pool side eating. The service was fast and friendly, while the menu was a little heavy for my taste (a lot of fried food outside of salads) the food all looked tasty and good if you aren't on a diet. I also went for happy hour 7-8pm, where the hotel offers free drinks. The free drinks come in plastic cups and are well liquor with a mixer ( jack and coke, vodka soda, gin soda, ect.). Its free though so if you are upset it comes in a plastic cup pay for a cocktail! The drinks were good and there was a lovely live band. It was a very chill spot to meet other hotel guests and unwind. Go check it out and you will not be disappointed! read more

This rating is based on my overall experience! When we first walked in we were cheerfully greeted by a waiter who told us to sit wherever we'd like. They had Latin music playing in the background and very comfortable upholstered couches with a modern vintage vibe among other tables and booths to sit at. We chose the couch seating option! Our waiter was nice and quite attentive. I tried their mojito and it was delicious! My cousin thought it was too sweet but he's a guy so maybe he was biased. I had a "Pan con Bistec". Our waiter recommended a special sauce that they have at the table and it was heaven in a bottle! A bit spicy yes but oh so good! The quality of the food was a 4 star while the ambiance was, in my opinion, a 5. Will definitely return to this place. read more

I suggested dinner with my coworkers here because I'm staying on property and it was closer to the convention center than their hotels. I had looked at pictures on Yelp before I arrived in Miami. Beware, it's a lot smaller in person than in the pictures. As a result, our party of 5 was rather large. The wait staff was accommodating to us and helped us keep an eye on tables that were about to leave. It was feeling late for us because we all flew into town in the morning and we're just looking to eat something and go to bed. They ran out of chicken... Which was a bummer. We all ordered a sandwich and fries. As the person that suggested this place for dinner, I really wanted it to be great. But no... Our food took a really long time considering they were all just sandwiches and fries. Of course by the time they came out, everything was cold. There was no way we were going to send our plates back because we had already spent enough time there. I think it would be great for drinks before dinner or going out but I would not recommend eating here at all. read more

This is only based on a quick brunch stop, but everything was just a little... rough around the edges. A charming little place, tucked away in an unassuming corner off Liberty and 20th, it's in a good location about a block away from Collins (away from the madness but still close enough to it). The menu had several things that caught my eye and for a 1pm brunch date I opted for the guava cream cheese french toast (which came out on cuban bread with a sweet guava drizzle) - really good except the bread could be soaked a little more like regular french toast, but the guava drizzle + cream cheese is a definite win. Service, and a couple drinking glasses, could have been a bit more polished but the place has potential and, though not stellar, was good enough overall to draw me back to give them a second chance... perhaps in the evening with the live music and for the dinner menu instead. read more
