However, his assessment of the roof and chimney was done via a drone, so the roofer ultimately found more issues than initially thought when they climbed onto the roof to assess. Additionally, there are other limitations to their assessment such as if there's any furniture/belongings blocking items at the time (e.g. the washer could not be assessed because the seller had left clothes in it). Both these things, however, wouldn't be unique to Stone Inspections, but just an issue with the inspection process overall. Josh, as a certified mold assessor, was also able to help ease our concerns about potential mold/mildew. Our radon tests were picked up on Monday, as the lab is closed over the weekend, and brought directly to the lab, so that we were able to get the results later that evening. Lisa, the business manager, was also very responsive and helpful. She was understanding of the tight timeline the sellers were on, and thus, we were on. She was transparent about what availability she had and tried to work with us. She was also able to provide some referrals to contractors so that we could get estimates on repairs/replacements we needed. Everyone at Stone Inspections has been pleasant to work with during my husband and my process to buy our first home. Would recommend & use again should we need another house inspection.

It was organized and full of highlighted pictures and descriptions of the issues. I shared Danny's report with the sellers and was able to get them to agree to some costly repairs. Joe Raffone did the inspection for the buyers for a condo I am selling. He wrote that one of the…read morethermostats was "broken and would not turn off." I knew that it was fine, so I immediately went over to look at it. It's a dial that turns clockwise from "off" to 90 degrees. There is a small "stopper" inside the thermostat that prevents the dial from turning past 90 degrees. He had forced it past the stopper so that it was now stuck between 90 and "off" but of course at this point he couldn't continue to turn clockwise to "off" but neither could he turn counter-clockwise back below 90 without forcing it. So he left the thermostat above 90 where it sat for 6 days in July. Then he put in his report that it was "broken and required an electrician to fix". By removing the thermostat cover, I was able to turn the dial counterclockwise back past the stopper where he had forced it, and then turned it to off. It's now back to the way it was before he manhandled it. If he had actually broken it, I would have sued him. As it is, I paid for electricity for 6 days of roasting my condo. Attached are photos of 1) what Joe did to it and 2) what it's supposed to look like (and did look like after I put it back). You'd have to be a moron 1) to do this in the first place 2) not to know how to put it back the right way 3) leave the heat on at 90+ degrees and walk away.

We needed a very specific type of test as we were working to narrow down the cause of the issue. We gave very specific instructions on the type of test that we needed. We informed the tester of the sensitive situation and to be sure to follow the instructions precisely. The lady at the office assured us that the man doing the testing had years of experience, knew how to handle sensitive situations, and the instructions would be handled precisely. Instead, the tester did what he felt like doing and further did things and tests that we specifically instructed not to do. He then intentionally created a scenario that he could file a report with the health department. The letter he wrote to the health department was worded in a way so as to put us in a bad light and to position himself as a hero for going against our instructions. What he failed to remember was that we were already in contact with the health department and were miles ahead of him in remediating the situation that we later found the tenant had caused. The fact that he couldn't have even a little faith, and attempted to deliberately stick a knife in the back of his customer is why this business is getting 1 star. We cannot recommend this contractor and are further considering contacting the Department of Consumer Protection to report him.

My husband and I were in the market to purchase a log home and had one that we used Gary Oleski to…read moreinspect based upon reviews found on line and his "extensive" website since led us to believe he had substantial experience and knowledge with log homes and the unique mechanics of these homes. We were highly disappointed. Despite his home inspection saying there were minor concerns for us, we pulled the Town report and found that many things he aid were NOT issues WERE. 1. Foundation cracks - while not unusual, these were identically cracked across from one another and larger than what I was comfortable with - Gary Oleski said not to be of concern - town inspector report actually said foundation was poured incorrectly and noted as "owner's risk"; 2. Bathroom vents - Gary said that they were to code and vented outside. I specifically asked Gary if they were vented outside or through the Attic, he stated they were vented directly outside, contrary to that we found out that they were NOT vented directly outside and were NOT to code! 3. Prior roof leak was known and new roof was noted and I specifically asked him to look at the roof for issues. He did find nail pops and some concern over the shingles by sky lights but stated that because it was a newer roof the shingles may not have settled into place yet. That was reasonable. We did find out however (and not that Gary would know this, but repair to the roof did not have a permit pulled and the original roof also was not signed off on by the town inspector). 4. Plumbing - the plumbing was not to code and not signed off on by the town. Gary did not see any plumbing issues. 5. The venting of the furnace/mechanics of the house were not to code and Gary said that they were fine. I have no idea what to make of that on the part of what to expect from an inspector on that issue. I realize that not all of that would have been known by an average inspector, but he claims to be a "Master inspector" and at the price we pay for inspections, in this case we paid $795 with the water/radon testing, is it too much to ask that a person that is ultimately in charge of the major purchase we are making in picking a home not pull the town record or know more about what they are inspecting? Also, he claims he is experience in building log homes. When we questioned further, we were told he was involved with building a "Spec/Model" log home. Very misleading from the website. We did not receive any photographs of items of concern or what he inspected, we were not told correct information and while he was very nice and provided the hand written report back quickly, I would not recommend his services for such a significant investment, as we had to walk away from this home based upon what we later found out about the house. If we had based it upon the inspection he provided, we would be purchasing a "money pit" that may not have been safe over time.
