Clair's ended up being my absolute favorite, to the point that after I made my round sampling what everyone had to offer, I made my way back to Clair's tent three more times. They got my vote, and apparently enough other votes to win people's choice in the tournament. Soon thereafter, George and I took my wife to Clair's restaurant. We've now gone back so many times that we are practically on a first name basis with the servers. I have absolutely loved almost everything I've had from there. Even the stuff I wasn't as fond of was still good. My only major gripe is that a lot of the booths are not equipped to handle someone of my girth, and it's often a tight squeeze to get into them. I can understand though, they need to make them that small to maximize the space and fit in as many people in as they can, because the lines can sometimes go out the door. Still, I'm super happy we discovered this restaurant, and it's an absolute asset to the community. I hope they will be in the chili cook-off next year so I can see them win again.

My coworker and I were astonished at the prices for many of the items -- $15 burgers? I recall having a burger a few years back and I don't think it was that expensive. We also saw several salads that were $17. I'm guessing -- and hoping -- that they are very large salads. I got the meatloaf sandwich special for $10.95 and it included mashed potatoes. I like my meal. I would have liked to have added a side salad but we didn't really have time today and I was a little afraid of how much a side salad would cost. There's a nice gift shop here and it appears that the ice cream treats are a big draw though I don't recall ever having one or seeing anyone else having one. I did notice that a banana split was more than $10 which seemed expensive to me. I'm sure I'll be back next time I'm in town.

Today, a coworker and I visited and I had a cowboy burger -- pretty simple burger but it was amazing and I'm not sure what made it so tasty. Cowboy burger has an onion ring, two thick-sliced tomatoes, a piece of lettuce, and crispy bacon. I asked for the barbecue sauce on the side. Plenty of terrific fries came with my burger. My coworker had the turkey club and said it was delicious. Neighbors on our sides had cheesteaks that looked -- and they said tasted -- amazing. This is a popular spot at lunch and sometimes, like today, there's a slight wait for a table but it's worth it. The kitchen is small and there were at least five people in there whipping up basic but tremendous tasting food. I'll be back ... probably the year after next for another great meal.

The staff were so friendly and helpful with a tasty offering in place of meat with our breakfast.
