One of those mom/pop stores with authentic thai cuisine. Awesome food, good ambience, and very nice people. I always get the pad thai with combination meat, the soft shell crab appetizer, and fried ice cream. It's not like those chain restaurants where they constantly check up on you, so the service is what you would expect from a small restaurant. The pad thai had a good combination of meats with plenty of sauce. The noodles were soft and the sauce had alot of flavor. The soft shell crab was served with fried broccoli and sweet chili sauce, which complimented the taste, making it both crunchy and sweet. We finished off with the fried ice cream, which is served with some kind of raspberry sauce. When they brought it out, they pour alcohol (which is on fire!!) on top of the ice cream!! It's a regular vanilla ice cream dipped in batter and deep fried, but the way they flambay it with alcohol and serve it with the sauce makes it taste like heaven!! I love this place. In the last two weeks I have eaten this food at least three times and I just found it. The first several times I ordered the food for delivery and was always pleased with the way my food was cooked and how it arrived. After the first couple of times I figure that I should come in person to try the food at its freshest and was once again pleasantly surprised. I'm such a fan of this place. They have really good pad thai and other entrees. The prices are reasonable. The service is excellent. Definitely try their Thai Iced Tea. I've been to other Thai restaurants and theirs is not as good as Morris Thai's. I also recommend the beef/chicken satay and the fried ice cream. This place is very easy to find because it's located on a Main road (Morris Avenue) right across the Municipal Hall. On weekends at night it may get really busy and it may be hard to find parking. There's a parking lot next to it but it's shared amongst other stores and businesses in the area. You'll have to find street parking if there's none in the lot. The restaurant would also be accessible via bus, there's a NJ Transit stop right across the street. Service is excellent and the owner and waiters/waitresses are nice. read more

Came here on a whim that the tofu pad thai would be good. I really wanted to like this place because the people were so nice. I was sadly disappointed. The pad thai just lacked a lot of flavor and it tasted like I was just eating cooked noodles. The dish also included some slices of red bell pepper which was weird and didn't help with the flavor. GREAT food! The best Thai food I have ever had...and I've tried MANY Thai places. I used to live in Union and every once in a while I take the 40 minute drive over, just to go here. Appetizer specials are always great. The last time I was there I had a fried crab dumpling which was great. If you are vegetarian, this is a great place to go. If you have a peanut allergy, go elsewhere. I always get the thai salad (the fried tofu on it is great). For my entree I get the vegetarian pad thai with tofu and egg. I asked for medium spicy last time, and beware because it is beyond HOT! If you love spicy get medium, but I would say mild has the right balance. For desert, I get the fried ice cream which comes on fire. It is a pretty good sized ball of ice cream too. Only thing that stinks is trying to find parking. Truth be told, I wasn't expecting much from this place. You can easily pass by the generic sign without a second glance. I am glad I took a chance and ate at Morris Thai. Let me rephrase that, I'm glad I took a chance, got past the confusing menu and ate at Morris Thai. (There are multiple separate appetizer, entree and specials sections on different pages for some reason). Here's some memorable dishes I've had over multiple visits: Thai Fried Rice: I feel strange that I enjoyed it so much -- its just fried rice! Hard to explain, but I'll try. Not too greasy, relatively big portion size and a good amount of meat. It's a must order every time I visit. Kow Soy: Basically fried egg noodles with moderately spicy curry. The texture of the noodles is initially ... odd.. for lack of a better word. Mix with the curry -- and you get -- sogginess. Not necessarily bad, since the curry is good. In the end, I wish there was more noodles to soak up the leftover curry. Hard to recommend to a non-adventurous eater though. Duck Curry: DAMN. This was good. This isn't your local Chinese joint's roast duck. This version isn't salty. It's crispy yet tender, despite being drowned in succulent curry. I don't know why this isn't in more Thai restaurants. Until then, I'll continue to go to Morris Thai. Overall: Skip the menu, order Thai Fried Rice and the duck curry. read more

After a long day of Xmas shopping, we were looking for the closest Thai restaurant in the area and decided to give Morris Thai a try. It was around 9pm, the dining room was empty (zero customer) and they were hesitating to seat us despite the fact that the sign upfront says open till 10pm. Interesting. We got seated regardless and about 30 seconds after we got our menu, the waitress came to ask if we are ready because the kitchen is cleaning up. Hm... So I picked the generic items, Pad Thai and Chicken with basil sauce. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our food. And while we were waiting, the phone was ringing off the hook with pick up orders. The wait staff at the same time started to pack up, put on their coats and got on a cab outside, leaving the man behind the register, I presume the owner alone. Maybe they were going to a party? Food came, we housed it in 10 minutes. So needless to say it was pretty good Thai food. Just wish they give us more rice. We asked for the check and left. read more

This Thai restaurant is the closest one to where I live. It's alright to go to if I want Thai food right away. I've only ordered their pad thai (which is super spicy if you ask for that and much heavier in taste compared to other pad thai dishes I've had but it's still pretty good) and that's your safest bet. My boyfriend had two different curry dishes on two separate occasions and that left him disappointed. Their fried tofu appetizer is decent also. The decor is so unintentionally kistchy that I actually kind of like it. The service is good. They're helpful and borderline friendly. For an appetizer, we ordered the summer rolls as an appetizer. Portions were good and plum sauce was delicious, but crab meat was lacking. For the main course, we had: Thai Fried Rice - it felt like it was missing something, average taste Eggplant Chicken - eggplant was delicious, but the sauce needed more salt (and there was an overall lack of vegetables). In addition, chunks of chicken would have fit this course better than thinly cut slices. Morris BBQ Beef - best course of the night, had a nice slightly charred taste to it. I went here looking for a fix for the dreaded no meat on Fridays rule that Catholics have to follow. Because eating meat on a random day dooms us to hell and forgoes all the good deeds we've done in our lives. Pretty reasonable in my opinion. But I digress. My best friend and I both ordered the shrimp pad thai to go for about 11 dollars each. Upon getting our order, we noticed that the amount they give you isn't even comparable to a lot of the chinese/asian places you go to. For the price that we pay, I expect at least a decent amount. However, the amount we got was about the same that you would buy on the lunch menu. Now I am aware that there is an up-charge for seafood but the amount we got just plain unreasonable. I mean, don't they know that we're in a recession??? However, the quality of the food was pretty good although not as authentic thai as I've had before. I mean, red bell peppers in pad thai is just crazy. I didn't care for it but it didn't detract from the overall quality of the dish. The noodles also seemed to be swimming in the sauce. In any case, if you like Thai food then it's a place to visit. Just don't expect to get the same bang for your buck that you'd get at a comparable place. read more

The Thai Iced Tea was pretty good but it was on the sweet side. The beef fried rice and yellow chicken curry were delicious. If you're picky about your Thai food, this is not the place for you. (I've had better in Los Angeles and San Diego.) The service was good though. However, this is the first Thai restaurant that I've been to where the utensils were a fork and knife. My main complaint about this place is that the portion sizes have been steadily decreasing since the time I started coming here. I reason they chose this option in lieu of raising their prices I typically place my order for pick up after work--usually Thai fried rice and the Duck Curry. I love the flavor of the duck curry. It goes very well with their basil tinged fried rice. The duck curry is one of the most expensive entrees on their menu, but it just seems that the amount of duck you actually get is never consistent. The Panang flavoured curry is also great. Other than that, I believe this place to be one of the best tasting Thai Restaurants in the Union County area. That being said, I plan to remain a customer. read more

This is my go-to place for Thai take-out in the area. I absolutely love here - although dining in isn't exactly appealing. You can't go wrong with the Pad Thai (Chicken is great, Shrimp is a tad overcooked), but my favorite dish is between the Ginger Salmon and the Green Curry. Both are sooo flavorful - you taste the ginger, garlic, lemongrass, pepper (!), cilantro - I love it. Also, the size is appropriate (enough for leftovers) for the cost. Great value here. I just wished they spruced up inside more. Everytime I walk in, I think, "I guess this is what a Thai family's dining room looks like." It's not UGLY, but you know, it's not pretty either. The best thai curry and papaya salad I have ever had in my life! Not an exaggeration. NJ usually doesn't have good places to eat especially in this area for good thai food. I am a vegetarian so can only speak for that but omg when you say spicy, they come through! My mouth is on fire but VERY happy. The food is great, decor not so much and parking is a challenge which is why I only gave 4 stars. For all the years I've been coming here I know I can count on good food and pleasant and attentive wait staff. Last night was no exception. Started with the Tom Yum Talay spicy seafood soup and it was delicious, but not that spicy. Next had the crispy duck salad and the duck was shredded and crispy which balanced nicely with the scallions and apples and the sauce was tasty. Next came the panang curry and red curry both with shrimp. They both had good heat to them but everyone at the table agreed that the panang curry was the better of the two. When consumed with Thai iced tea, the balance of sweet to heat was lovely. We finished with sticky rice and mango where the mango was ripe and the rice was good, again very tasty. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to a friend because it has great food, decent prices and a quiet atmosphere which is great for talking. The wait staff don't pressure you but are very attentive. I'm not sure if I would recommend it for a first date just because of the decor and challenge of finding parking. But date night, sure thing. read more
