My boyfriend introduced me to Morrison's 4 months ago on a date, and I loved my meal so much, I've come back for more! He recommended the steakhouse wedge ($13), which was is SO good! I definitely want to pay it forward and recommend that salad to you! It has a lot of steak seasoned and cooked to perfection on top of lettuce wedges with toppings on top and a side of their homemade Russian dressing. It's #2 of my all time favorite salads! My most recent visit, I decided to try a burger. I chose the B&B burger, which was a stuffed burger patty on pretzel bun with crispy fried onions, bacon, and blue cheese. It came with a side of homemade chips and a pickle for $10.50. I asked for medium and it came on closer to well-done, but that bother me too much since it was really good! My daughter had the bacon grilled cheese which was basic, but good. They have a bar with a lot of seating, tvs everywhere to watch sports, and a pool table in the back. The absolute worst ribeye I've ever had. Truth be known, it wasn't even ribeye, but rather some very poor cut, and even tho ordered rare, came out VERY well done. I would say closer to 3-1/2 stars.... but not a 4. We come here occasionally, and their steak sandwiches are terrific. Usually what we get. Or the Steak wedge salad. Usually great. This time not so great. Lets dissect:- Wedge salad. The steak was delicious as per usual, but the salad was much smaller than previous visits. At least one of us gets this every time, so we know... and it just looked sad. Aloha pizza. G'bye pizza (I do realize that Aloha is hello and goodbye. Trying to be funny ). A jumbled mass of flavors that neither stood out nor meshed. Coupled with the fact that it was burned made it taste like... burned. This is what I get for venturing off from our usual. Firecracker shrimp. Like a mouthful of salt. I've had it before and I liked it... this time the chef (?) was supremely heavy handed with the salt in the breading. Service was slow. It usually is, but this time the waitress was struggling, and I think she was by herself. Not really her fault, but our food was delivered and we didn't speak to her again. I work around the neighborhood. NoW, I only come here if I want to eat. Food is great but the service is bad. I understand it can get busy. But if a bartender is on her phone and speaking to a guy, then they are NOT busy. 15 minutes with out service. When I got a beer, it took me 20 minutes to get my bill. I'm wondering if maybe Sunday at noon isn't the time to come in. The cook was off course today, as both our burgers were way over cooked. This being my first time, I have a policy of not sending food back and wasting it. I think it's fair to say, they have one chance to get it right, when it comes to a burger. They have some fancy combinations and I went with the stuffed b&b. Stuffed blue cheese, (overcooking it seemed to squeeze all the blue cheese out of it.) bacon, crispy fried onion, (they were cold and chewy) lettuce, tomato and blue cheese dressing. (Only a trace of dressing.) I enjoyed the tater tots for a change of pace, but the $15.50 price is indicative of a 5 star burger. They fell short and the manager never approached us, after we informed Brittany, our server, of our disappointment. I come here all the time because the foods so good! Usually I come on a slower Wednesday/Thursday night when it's not too busy, but tonight I came on a Saturday and it was swamped!!! I really like the food here. I come here during lunch sometimes and their burgers are really delicious. I think they re-did their menu a year or two ago and tried to make the burgers very Kuma-esque. Don't want to wait two hours to get into Kumas? Do you have someone in your group who can't handle heavy metal music? There's always parking and a seat open at Morrison and the burgers are almost as good. The laid back atmosphere is especially good if you want to watch sports because there are ample televisions. I wasn't expecting the entire staff to be drunk including the manager when I had walked in for my first time. I had one of the blonde waitresses come up to me and rudely assumed if I was with my boyfriend or if I was cheating by talking to his best friend that my boyfriend came out for to celebrate. The funny part is I was just going there to come pick up my boyfriend but because of that blonde long hair waitress she really turned me off with that kind of assumption. Still loving Morrisons after all these years, and we consistently order take-out from here to this day - always quality food with tons of flavor in whatever we order. Their steak sandwiches, burgers, wings, and salads are always amazing! I also love their santa fe eggrolls with that amazing chipotle-ranch dipping sauce! I'm kinda bummed. The burgers used to be really great. You could tell they were fresh, and they were always juicy and delicious. Today I finally stopped back in and it sorta had the taste of a frozen burger. They're nowhere near as good as they once were. The burger I got was also supposed to come in a pretzel bun, a big selling point, but it came on a kinda stale non-pretzel bun. I probably won't be back for a burger. The beer is good though and well priced. Came saturday around 7:30 and it was a full house. Ordered the potato skins and memphis bbq burger. Service was a bit slow considering a party of 15+ all ordering at the same time got there before us (dont worry its worth the wait). The music was particularly loud that night. The burger was great....with cole slaw piled high and a fried pickle to top it all off! I would have liked a lot more bbq on it, I dont think there was enough to balance out the pile of cole slaw. The taters are always fresh and crispy..yummmm. The potato skins were ok. Ive had better. Cant wait to go back and try another burger. I have been going to Morrison's for 10 years now and I have always enjoyed myself. The food is delicious and the owner always makes it a point to see if you need anything. Last night I went there and had the worst experience at any bar. After asking politely for a beer the bartender replied, "I won't serve you if you are yelling at me." I finally received a bucket of beers and she over charged me $45. Meanwhile she spent the whole time flirting with the gentleman across the bar and would not serve anyone but him. Clearly she does not understand how the service industry works. I will not be going back anytime soon because of this terrible bartender. read more

This place is ok. I have a bunch of friends that love it. The girls that work here are always friendly. If you go early, it is a great place. The late night "bar" crowd is a little loud, and the music isn't my style. The early crowd is more my type. I wanted to give this place a 3 star, but decided on 4. Just because I am not into the bar scene shouldn't bring down the rating. If you want a nice dinner and some music, go early. If you want to drink and be loud, go there later. What ever you are into. If it is busy, service can be pretty slow, but early in the evening should be pretty fast. read more

Bear with me here: My gf and I get there @ 7:45pm on a Saturday to have enough time to eat, then watch the UFC fight that starts @ 9pm. We order a pizza, nachos, and water totaling $20. All is well so far. Then I'm told by our waitress that we're required to buy drinks or leave our seats.....YES you read that correctly. PAYING CUSTOMERS WHO ORDERED A FULL MEAL WERE TOLD (NOT ASKED) TO ORDER DRINKS OR LEAVE THEIR TABLE. I was appalled, so I calmly spoke with the manager/owner thinking he thought we had not ordered yet. I explained to him that we'd ordered and eaten already. He immediately began swearing and bitching about how much the fight cost him to order! I was ready to leave, but my gf wanted to stay so she ordered a beer. 30 minutes after we order the beer, I hear the owner/manager lean toward my ear and say, 'Don't ever fucking come in here again.' Of course we ended up arguing which consisted of him using the word 'fuck' a dozen times. I calmly explained to him that giving paying returning customers an ultimatum is a VERY poor business decision, and that he hadn't the first clue about how to run a business. (Shouldn't tables be reserved for people that are eating, not just those that are drinking?) ZERO STARS. Go to Village Inn in Skokie, and tell this place to go to hell. I've never been more insulted in my life. On the bright side, after we got kicked out I snatched back my $20 before heading for the door. Free meal, fuck this place. read more

Oh boy, I almost didn't rate this place because I feel like it didn't even deserve the one star you are required to give if you want to post a review. Morrisons is just no good. I have never been treated like crap more at a bar in my life. It's upsetting that you are a paying customer, who tips well, yet the servers treat you like you should be thanking them for the ability to give them money. I seriously think it might be a requirement to be mean to customers at this place. The bouncers are terribly rude and may at times make it very hard for you to get in. I sat with a big group of friends near the door once and when we laughed loudly the bouncer told us to shut up. Wow. Guess we shouldn't have enjoyed ourselves too much there. The owner can be found at times looming over paying customers, waiting to start fights with them. Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen him be nice all night, to anyone, it's very sad. I hate this place, and do my best to avoid it, at all costs, but unfortunately have had to attend parties for unsuspecting friends at this place, who are just attracted to the 4am closing time, but usually after they come a couple times they end up just as disgusted by it and refuse to return. I am overjoyed with the yelp rating this place has, although it is still a little generous. I am happy to see not all customers are treated like garbage at Morrisons by the look of some of the other reviews, it seems like a miracle, considering I have been nothing but nice to the people who work here, even when they are so mean to me, hoping to kill them with kindness. I ate here last night for the first time last night and I will definitely be back. It was a great experience. EVERYTHING was fantastic! First off, the place itself is the perfect size meet up with friends. The music is great, not too loud and not too soft with great variety but mostly 80s and 90s 'good songs'. The food - FANTASTIC!!! Appetizers, sandwiches, whatever. . . .it's all delicious! But it's the staff that makes it. So friendly and helpful. Attentive without being TOO in your face. EDIT...April 19th, 2008: THEY LOSE ONE STAR... My oldest daughter, her best friend,and I came here after going out for a great dinner elsewhere, for "one" on the way home last night. My second daughter met us there, it was around 9:50p.m. She ordered a "Half & Half/Guinness & Bass. She wasn't there for more than ten minutes, we were cracking up about something and she accidentally knocked over her beer. The bartender then did some "follow my finger with your eyes" stunt to her (I understand she has to make sure she is not intoxicated, but it was just really weird the way she did it) drawing lots of unwanted heads turning our way. She then refilled her beer (she had only taken two sips) and CHARGED her again....what?!?! Now please realize that both my oldest and myself were previously bartenders back in the day...and NEVER! Then every time we started laughing again, we were scared we were going to get the "eye test" again. Aren't you supposed to have a fun time when you go out?!?! Very uncomfortable moments. We finished our drinks and we left. So sad, I really liked this place, being so close to home. NOTE: Everything I just shared had nothing to do with the bartender "Jackie" that I mentioned in my first review, she was there, but she was waitressing at the tables, we were sitting at the bar...too bad, she is much more pleasant!! Went there to meet a coworker and I wasn't too impressed. I did feel like there were a bunch of kids drinking at the bar. Which is not a problem but seemed as if they were under age. The drinks were good and I have not tried the food yet so maybe next time it could change my mind. I do hear it's open till 4am so that could be a bonus. As "dive bars" go, this one is pretty good. Driven by the place a gazillion times, finally decided to check it out and met a friend here who had been there in the past. I've read some of the Yelp comments about service being bad and people being ignored, but if anything, we were almost served "too quickly" here. Everyone was nice and more than accessible. Wide variety of bottled beer and a few on tap also. Food was decent as well. Split an order of quesadillas and they were pretty good. Opted to have a Guinness Dip for dinner and that too was a tasty selection. Plenty of TV's to watch sports. Clean and well kept, a busy place as well. I'll gladly go back. read more

Is it possible to consistently feature a more horrible experience than nearby Teaser's? Perhaps not, but Morrison Roadhouse comes close enough to tickle its nuts. This seemingly innocuous bar houses the rudest and most disinterested barkeeps I've come across. Acting like a holier-than-thou bitch must be in the job description. I've had friends who were hardly drunk get cut off without cause. I've been threatened to be cut off myself simply for voicing my annoyance with the bartenders' attitudes. Never in all of Chicago have I been carded harder than the few times I made the mistake of walking into Morrison. They even ask for a second (and sometimes a third) form of ID, then scrutinize them for half a minute before reluctantly allowing you entrance. Your irritation might be calmed by a jukebox, but they don't even get that right. The jukebox is in the back room where no one around the bar can hear it. Meanwhile, your ears are punished by the mostly terrible music they choose to play. Morrison Roadhouse is the type of joint that is sometimes unavoidable because it's open late and there are certain nights where you don't want to go home. But you know what? Just go home. Let me begin by saying, it's open until, I believe 4 a.m., possibly 5 a.m. Bad news right there...but apparently good news to me the times I went there. First off, most, not all, of the bartenders are stupid. I mean, literally, are uneducated and rude. I have worked in the business (and when I told the bartender that, her reply was, " Oh really? Yea right, everyone says that," really? because most people HAVE been a server at one time or another. Anyways, she was a moron. I can't say the place has good food because I have eaten just cheese sticks from this place...if you screw that up than I really don't know what to tell you. Just don't go here. I love this place! It's a great 4am bar. This is the kind of place that caters to almost everyone. Go there during the day and you will find a decent lunch crowd (I'll get to the food later) and the neighborhood day drinkers and game watchers, they have like 8 plasmas. And at night you will find almost every type of customer...the guy just getting off of work, the young adults getting drunk, the old timer trying to get away from his wife. This place sees them all. The food here is not your normal bar food. Cuz the food is amazing! I have never had anything bad there. They have your normal bar food, burgers, wraps, nachos, but it's done with the quality of a professional chef. One of my biggest pet-peeves when it comes to restaurants is old and dirty deep fry oil. I can't stand it. All the times I have eaten there I have never gotten anything cooked in old grease. And that's saying a lot. The building itself was completely rebuilt a few years back and it still has that newly remodeled feel. It's always clean and never gets really packed except late night Fridays and Saturdays. They have two decent pool tables, lucky strike, and those great touch screen games. The employees are great...there is always a beautiful girl behind the bar, and a few tough guys at the door, and a manager walking around talking to regulars. I have heard roomers that they can be unfriendly at times but I have gotten to know most of them and they are really nice to me. There is just one draw back to this place. Its location...it's not hard to find, it's down the street from the Niles police station. It's not uncommon to see a cop in a parking lot down the street. The first thing that struck us when we walked in was the lack of women... personally, I don't care, but honestly a weird thing to walk into a bar and see like 40 guys and only 3 women, other than the three female bartenders. That said, the bartenders were friendly, as were the couple of people we talked to... and we later discovered that the women were all out on the patio. We read the reviews of this place while sitting in the bar, and honestly it worried me a little, but we didn't witness any aggressiveness by the bouncers, as a matter of fact the one working the door was really nice and pleasant. As for racist... I saw people of every race in here, and didn't witness anyone treating anyone else differently due to their race or anything else. We didn't eat, just had a couple of beers and played a few games of pool, but we think its certainly worth a stop in again sometime. read more

I feel obligated to write this review because of a bad review I just read, although I love this place and should have written a review much sooner. This will be a four point review, but I gave five stars. One extra star is for kickassedness! One... Don't bring your kids to a BAR and expect special service. This is a Roadhouse Bar... Got that? This is not to say you'll be ignored by any means, I know almost all the bartenders here and I know they give the same service to everyone. This is charming space, but let's be honest. THIS IS WHERE THE ADULTS PLAY! You wanna drink and shoot pool with your kids have fun at Dave & Busters. Two, the food here is amazing, I haven't had a bad item yet, and I've tried plenty! My favorite is their grilled skewers with Chicken and Steak, but their burgers are all to die for. I would gladly gain a hundred pounds eating nothing but this places food. Three, the pool tables are well maintained. This might not be important to everyone but this place has two tables, and the patrons know pool etiquette. The cues are not bowed, and the table doesn't have chalk covering it and it's perfectly level. Seriously. I love Morrison's pool tables. Four and honestly most important, the people. Privacy policy prevents me from naming everyone but they know who they are. After only being there twice I was welcomed at the door by name by security, and the bartenders. These folks are just all around nice people, and they are good at their jobs. I don't know the owner, but his crew is amazing! The regulars are also great folks, that vary in age from mid twenties to... Older than mid twenties... Morrison's is cozy and clean, it's the type of place that you're not gonna look around after getting your drink and think "What am I doing with my life?" There is no drinking alone at Morrison's, everyone is friendly, and like I said it's where everybody knows your name! So do yourself a big frakking favor, go to Morrison Roadhouse, order a Hacker, and a Light My Fire burger and decide for yourself if it's as awesome as I've described! read more

Morrison Roadhouse has been in business since 1932 for many excellent reasons. They're open 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. every day, with their kitchen closing at 3:00 a.m. The very large, wide, heavy wooden bar is a great place to both drink and eat your full meal. Or just drink your full meal. Nacho appetizer is ginormous. A hamburger plate at Morrison is a bit of Heaven on Earth. All burgers styles I've eaten here have been grilled and superb- hefty in size and weight, with abundant toppings like extra thick slices of cheddar and sauteed onions and are perfectly prepared as requested. My far and away favourite is their patty melt. They serve home made, old-style steak fries in generous portion, and their home made cottage fries are little slices of deep fried perfection. Ask for crispy and yes, you receive crispy. Barbecue sauce is pretty darned good. They'll give you extra sauces on the side, say for fry dipping, without tapping your check for another fifty cents or a buck as do some places. Bartenders are very accommodating, attentive, generous and thoughtful. Drinks are priced within the usual, acceptable range and pours are generous. Pete the owner is a friendly, chatty, helpful and kind man. Drop in a couple times and you're treated as a welcomed, regular guest. Large screened televisions are numerous and well placed. Pool tables, housed in a separate room, are well maintained and a game is inexpensive. Yay! I'm absolutely a fan.
