El Yoyito has amazing food, but the workers are rude and unprofessional. I ordered sandwiches (ham, egg, and cheese), however, I arrived home to discover no egg on one sandwich. I called to see if I could possibly return to receive the right order and was told, "You won't be able to fix the problem," with a very aggressive tone. My girl was sick and asked for some chicken soup so I figured I'd swing by this place since it was so close. I asked for one large chicken soup it came out to about 7.75 with tax included. I left the nice lady a $10 told her the change was hers. I get home and serve the large soup in a bowl to my sick girlfriend. When I tell you there was maybe one ounce of chicken literally one ounce maybe three fourths of one ounce. Almost no vegetables at all either. It was all broth I called them a few times but got no answer. The breakfast here was nondescript. There's actually only two things to order for breakfast - the standard Cuban breakfast (french fries, sausages, eggs, tostada, and Cuban coffee) for $3.50 and mangu con salami y queso (a Cuban take on fufu/monfongo (mashed plantains) drizzled with some oil(?) and onions, with a good thick slice of pan-fried salami and pan-fried queso blanco. I must admit that I liked the salami and the queso blanco. The mangu could use a bit more seasoning or flavor to counteract with the pretty plain taste of mashed plantains. But of the two, I must say the mangu made the breakfast more "unique" as I haven't seen something like this in many Cuban cafeterias around Miami. But overall, I would recommend people to come here for lunch or dinner as the breakfast didn't really knock me out of my chair. Not even a nudge. I'm saying to revisit because I saw a seemingly good Herald review on this establishment for its lunch/dinner entrees. read more

I didn't order anything out of this world and it was to go but they totally made it known that they were annoyed by my presence there because they wanted to close early. So sorry that I'm hungry and that your sign says 10pm -.- The food itself was good. The congri was not the best, but will do if you're hungry. The maduros were undercooked. I had breaded chicken and even though the chicken was a little flavorless, the breading totally made up for it. I thought the price was a tad much when I saw the small container, but when I opened it they had stuffed a huge ass piece of chicken and lots of rice in there, so its totally worth it because of the quantity. Really cool little Cuban place in Hialeah. This is as Hialeah Cuban as you're gonna get. I came here on Sunday to get the special arroz con pollo a la chorrera --- wet style chicken and rice, big bowl served with roasted red peppers and peas, and I got some fried plantains on the side. I also got a fresh Guarapo or sugar cane juice. They have a breakfast menu, sandwich menu and also a daily list of specials - typical Cuban dishes along with some there are less common such as bacalao (salt cod) in sauce, Italian style liver, cream of malanga soup, Cuban style Ajiaco soup, arroz imperial (a rice casserole with cheese and other things), Cuban style fried rice, and many more things. The arroz con pollo is very good, the chicken is on the bone I'm sure there's some MSG-containing Goya Sazon or something but that's to be expected, the side of fried sweet plantains are good, it comes with free Cuban bread with garlic and butter (probably margarine to be honest) which ends up making it taste like an Italian garlic bread, the guarapo was nice not too sweet and I could feel the vitamins and minerals from the sugarcane, it was made fresh in front of me, if you want a real taste of Cuban 305 come here and not Versailles, and don't try speaking English! Just for the record, its my opinion that none of these little roadside stops can get 5 stars. With that being understood, I've been to Yoyito's both here in Hialeah and the one on 8th street numerous times. The Cuban coffee is good except make sure to tell the servers in Hialeah to watch the sugar. They have a tendency to put a lot of sugar in any coffee item purchased. The croquetas are average. The pan con tortilla (egg sandwich) which is what I usually get is pretty good. I like mine with ham, onions and cheese on it. They usually put a nice amount of ham. The only negative that I've noticed about Yoyito's specifically the Hialeah location is despite calling in your order 20-30minutes before I arrive I still have to wait once I arrive. I was starving and I would have paid the extra to have this as a meal sized portion but It was served to me as if they had scooped out two sides to accompany an entree. I didn't know how to explain to the young woman that I wanted this as my meal because of the language barrier. I was STARVING and the vegetables were actually pretty fresh and tasty. Hidden gem in Hialeah! I've only been twice, both on Sundays, with my grandfather - because he wanted the Arroz con Pollo, which is the special on Sundays. Their servings are generous, and the prices are great. The Arroz con Pollo is under $9 (maybe even $7.75), and there's at least two servings. It's "a la chorrera" style, which means the rice is more wet (like a risotto) as opposed to the other version, which is dryer. Last time I went, I had the Pollo a la Plancha with maduros and congri. The chicken and rice was delicious, the maduros weren't as good as the first time I went. The service was also great. Our waitress was very attentive. Overall, I'd recommend this place if you're in the area or if you're searching for a good cheap Arroz con Pollo on Sundays. read more

We went on a Sunday for their famous Arroz con Pollo. It was good, just not ah-mazing. It was served piping hot, the portion I've was good, enough chicken but not as flavorful as I expected. My husband went with a basic breaded steak. It was very good and I really liked the breading. Their flan is creamy and tasty. Just not as delicious as the one that I make ;) Our server was nice and attentive for the most part. I hear that service can be hit or miss, so I guess we lucked out. It is slow however. It can take a while to even have your order taken. The wait can be long. There is no wait list. You wait in line. Packed like sardines. My claustrophobic self waited outside while my husband stood in line. Wait time was about 1/2 hour. Not too bad. BTW, as you eat you will be stared at by those in line. Very disconcerting. You can pratically feel eyes burning into you. Willing you to hurry the heck up. All in all, we had a nice meal. Nothing special, but tasty & filling. read more

For 330pm on a weekday I was surprised when we arrived that it was full. I decided to wait about 10 minutes until a table became empty. Once they cleaned off a table the bargirls told me to have a seat but underneath on the floor was food that needed to be cleaned up. So much for cleanliness before seating ourselves. We ordered empanadas de guava and queso. Came out nice and hot. Delicious when you took a bite right in. The mix of guava and queso is to die for. I ordered masas de puerco Frita with arroz con guizo de Mais - that was a special of the day along with sweet plantains that came with the plate. They lost an additional two stars with me with serving my food but without silverware nor napkins. Common sense? How am I going to eat? My hands? Also no refill on my water.. I feel that it was just too out of control for the server to keep up I had two servers and didn't know who to really tip. I didn't want to tip to be honest because I swear the service and cleanliness lacked BIG TIME. I gave two stars cause ONLY the food was worth it.
