    Our memory at Mory's

Loved visiting Mory's with Bianca & Ryan! Marie and John you are the best - so welcoming! We quickly felt like regulars. I think we visited 4 times in one week and probably ate one of everything on the menu! There were good menu choices both from the standard menu and the specials list. Every meal was wonderful. AND our visit is forever engraved on our table! Can't wait to see you again.

Another my fav in New Haven. Located walking distance from the Apple New Haven, that was good, cause when we were in CT it was always cold. Food mostly burger and stuffs were good. Serve good beer also. Could be loud, but that's part of the bar. You see old retired professors and young students all in one room drinking. Reminded me the Universities in Germany..especially Heidelberg.

Yale is at once a tradition, a company of scholars, a society of friends. Where else is more "Yale" than Mory's. Singing groups abound throughout the academic year, more especially on Monday nights when the Whiffenpoof's come in to sing. The walls are covered with pictures of Yalies of years past, with oars from crew regattas hung from the ceilings and classbooks stretching back to time immemorial lining the walls of the library... but most importantly the tables are carved with the initials of all those who have gone this way before us. Add your own initials to the tables, but bring your own knife. As to the food, if fits into a certain genre... somewhere around English I would guess... and is pretty good these days! When I first visited Mory's, I felt unwelcome and the food did not help much in that respect... but with recent changes at the club... the food has improved (try the salad Anton with salmon, its fantastic), along with the presentation (many thanks to the staff at the club, in particular Jan, Jim and Robin for the numerous aesthetic changes), but they still maintain the staples... such as, what I believe to be the life giving blood of existance... Baker's soup, and of course everyones favorite grown up drinking game, cups. When attending the club, for Mory's is more than just a restaurant, but is a private club with the largest membership in the United States (or last I asked it was), be sure to wear a jacket and tie for men and comparable attire for ladies... all in the spirit of "Keeping Mory's... Mory's" After all, wouldn't it be nice to "sit down together... over a meal... over a cup... over a lifetime."

It was quite steep, but since other local restaurants were booked, we decided to keep our reservation. I had been eager to return after several years, remembering previous excellent experiences. Because it was the Valentine's Day menu, it wasn't representative of their usual offerings. I missed the unique dishes they normally feature, but overall, it was still a pleasant evening. I had hoped to try their Arctic Char, but ended up with the salmon from the special menu. We started with an amuse-bouche of deviled eggs, which were fine. The ricotta appetizer was outstanding, with bright hints of lemon zest and balsamic, while the zucchini and carrots were less memorable. The salmon was enjoyable, though not my favorite dish, and I heard the steak was well-prepared. For dessert, the pistachio cake was tasty, though slightly dry, and was served with a pistachio and chocolate gelato. Overall, it was a decent experience, but quite pricey for the quality. I'm giving Zinc a 4-star rating, taking into account my past visits, which were quite good.

We especially loved the Habanero Mango Shrimp and the Burger on Fire. The restaurant was clean and the staff is quite friendly. The only issue we had were the wait times and pacing. When we arrived, there weren't many people there (it was 4:00pm). We both ordered Woodford Reserve on the rocks and the drinks took 20 minutes to come out. Pouring bourbon into a glass over ice doesn't take any real time, so at most the wait should have been 5-10 minutes. The food also came out at weird times. We ordered the shrimp as an appetizer, and my husband's side salad that came with his steak came out first...which was fine. The shrimp should have come out with that. However, the shrimp and our meals all came out at the same time...so it was like BAM, FOOD! That was a little much. We did enjoy everything and had a nice dinner, but our one suggestion to the restaurant would be to work on timing. It can make or break a restaurant experience.

The patio area is very pretty and set off the street so that you don't have people bugging you while you eat The brussels sprout salad was amazing as people say. We went around 7 PM and were seated immediately without reservations, which was a pleasant surprise for a Friday evening. It wasn't quite warm enough for the patio, but the inside still had a cozy atmosphere that worked perfectly for a pre-theater bite. My cousin ordered the crab cake, and I went with the Brussels sprouts and risotto Parmesan tater tots. We were really just looking for a few appetizers before the show, but everything hit the spot. The Brussels sprouts were flavorful and paired with thick savory slices of bacon, while the risotto Parmesan tater tots were crispy, cheesy, and hard to stop eating with the dipping sauce. Service was friendly, food came out quickly, and overall it was a relaxed and enjoyable experience before heading over to Yale Rep. Definitely reminded me why Harvest has been a longtime New Haven favorite.
