Yummy ice cream in Honolulu!! Friendly staff and cute decor inside. Lots of people on a Saturday night, but not too crowded where we waited very long. The ice cream comes on these cute little plastic pots, and a shovel spoon! So cute. No bathrooms at this store, so beware! Prices are a bit steep but it's expected. The shaved peanuts are what they're known for and they are absolutely scrumptious!! You must get them on your ice cream. read more

Unique type of ice cream from Taiwan. They have lots of places to sit down inside. The ice cream itself is super tasty and we loved the peanut shavings. The only downside is that it's really expensive in my opinion for how little ice cream you get. $13 for the crepe is too much. $7 for one scoop of ice cream is also too expensive for how small the scoop is. Stay Mosa! Stay beautiful! Mosa is the brightly decorated peanut & ice creamery on King Street by UH Manoa. The first location being Waikiki. I am so grateful they decided to open a second location in town with parking The stars aligned and Yelp BFF and I were finally able to make it down to Mosa. We shared a regular Mosa wrap with ube, vanilla and matcha. There's a current promotion to try the mac nut sprinkle and we opted for that. The ice cream is topped with a nut sprinkle and wrapped in a crepe. I've seen videos of Taiwanese night markets that add cilantro to the wrap. One day, we will make it to Taiwan to try it, but we have Mosa for now. The crepe is thin, yet sturdy enough to hold 3 scoops of ice cream. The mac nut sprinkle is sweet, nutty and makes a great ice cream topping. It's honestly very addicting and I may go back again later in the week lol Definitely visit either locations! Cute ice cream shop. They had a variety of flavors. It is a little pricey though. The one scoop ice cream was served in a container that is shaped like a pot. The spoon was shaped like a shovel too. Too cute! The scoops order was placed on a regular plate. Also, they will ask if you want peanut brittle topping on your ice cream. It was a good and added a nice touch of flavor to the ice cream. We visited the Mosa University location on a quiet Thursday afternoon around 3 PM. When we entered the shop, there was no immediate greeting or acknowledgment. We called out "hello" a few times but no one came out from behind the counter. Eventually, a young staff member spoke to us from the back area behind the wall instead of coming forward to greet us or assist us directly. She asked from there if we were ready to order, but did not step out or engage with us at the counter. It also appeared she had been on her phone prior to assisting. To the owner: we are regular fans of Mosa (the Waikiki location) which is why we wanted to share this feedback. This particular experience felt quite different from what we normally expect and we hope it can help improve customer service consistency and staff presence at the counter. I've had a memorable experience at the Mosa Waikiki location, but it was my first time going to the university store on S King St. Definitely the more convenient location of the two, since there are several free parking options and an indoor seating area for dining in. They now offer mac nut brittle shaving on top of their peanut one for extra charge. I decided to get the Mosa cup this time, with Honeydew mochi and Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream. I thought the Mosa cup was average (3.5/5) compared to their signature Mosa wrap. The crepe, cream, and their brittle adds so much to the experience and texture that their cup variant was underwhelming in comparison. Love love love their crepe ice cream rolls! The peanuts are definitely a good mix to balance out the sweetness from the ice cream and add texture to the dish. The crepe wrapper is very soft and overall it's a very refreshing sweet treat to eat after a heavy meal. The staff was very nice and gave me a wet paper towel because I spilt on my jeans (oops). You're really going for the nut shavings here as the ice cream and the wrap is really nothing special. However, I loved peanut toppings! Reminds me of a Chinese traditional dessert that I love! I tried the Mac nut too but definitely prefer the peanut one, more aromatic and satisfying. You could fit up to 3 flavors of ice cream in a regular or mini wrap. I got coffee and taro and they're both delicious. The interior looks a bit dated but it's not dirty at least, acceptable. We love to get a sweet treat after dinner for the kids and Mosa really hits the spot. It's located at Pucks Alley right off S king (across from Raising Canes. There is a private lot in the back of the building that has a really easy parking system. You pull into the lot and scan a QR code to pay for your parking. The minimum is two hours for three dollars and the system will recognize that you have signed in and as you're leaving, it will send you a text to let you know that you are leaving the lot and charges it to the card you put on your account. Now the best thing about Mosa is their peanut topping. But when we went today, they have a new topping which is macadamia nuts. And for a limited time, they are offering a free macadamia nut topping, which makes me think that in the future it will be an up charge. We tried the macadamia nut in a crêpe with coconut and Kona coffee ice cream. They allow three ice cream choices in the regular size crepe. I really liked the coconut and macadamia nut topping, but I would rather prefer the peanut and Kona coffee. The kids are not fans of the crêpe or ice cream or peanut topping, but they love the Tanghulu grapes. There are lots of seats inside and it's a really bright and open spot. Finally got to try this spot! I do love me some ice cream! Went on a slower time with just a few customers ahead of us and just one worker. So service was a little on the slower side as to be expected since they shave the peanuts right there in front of you! They must have some muscle for sure! It's a cute small spot with a handful of indoor seats. We decided to get 3 flavors with our crepe. Ube, matcha, vanilla. We got it the macadamia nuts since it was free with their special which is normally $1 extra. I want to do normal peanuts next time because I think the macnuts sweetness might have been a little overpowering with the ice cream. The added crunch was really good! Mosa is a solid late night dessert option in town. My friends and I were craving dessert and they had never tried Mosa before, so I recommended we check it out (this was my second experience). I highly recommend getting the scoops of ice cream because the portions are pretty generous and they give a lot of the shaved peanut candy. I also tried a bite of my friend's crepe, but the texture wasn't what I was expecting haha. My favorite flavors that I've tried here are the mango, cookies and cream, matcha and Kona coffee. Is now definitely within your reach now that Mosa has opened it's second location in McCully/Moili'ili area and who knew you'd find them in Puck's Alley, and with very little street parking in this area so using the available parking at Puck's Alley is accessible on University Ave which the entrance right after Betty's and the first hour is free and their entrance is on S King St near Beer Lab and you'll definitely know once you're there with the vibrant pink sign to greet you. This location offers plenty of seating and tables. You can even play super smash brothers with friends during your visit! Perfect for college students--delicious treats, fair prices, late hours! I loved the MOSA wrap. The crepe adds a lovely textural element to the dessert, not too sweet. You can choose up to 3 flavors of ice cream in each order (mini or regular size). The wrap is topped off with fresh strawberries and peanut shavings (I suspect this is the magical element of MOSA). Dessert in Honolulu, Hawaii... We were driving along King Street when my dentist yelled out, "What's that?" She was referring to a bright, colorful, new business. I thought about parking at the izakaya next door, but she said it's safer to park in Puck's Alley where this second location of MOSA is situated. (The first location is in Waikiki.) We entered the parking lot from University Avenue. The first hour is free! Yay! We walked through Nijiya Market to get to King Street and returned to the car through the alley. My two friends got scoops of ice cream in the cute flower pots and ate with small shovels - it's such a novelty! Located in Puck's alley, across from Hale Mahana (clearing targeting the UH student market), Mosa is the latest ice cream shop in town. Yeah I know what you're thinking, "oh, more ice cream." But have you heard about their two gimmicks to draw customers in? The first is free video games with what looks like a Switch setup with controllers to let customers play games. The second and more appealing, is that their ice cream gets topped with freshly grated peanut candy. Obviously steer clear if you are allergic. They also sell peanut candy in bar form. There's an assortment of flavors, but we went with the cookies and cream, Kona coffee, and chocolate in a crepe. Kona coffee was my favorite, and the peanut candy added a nice texture and bonus flavor, but it was a bit hard to eat the ice cream in the crepe. You may want to pick the cup. Pricing seems to be on par with others as everything is going up. The location is clean, cutely decorated, with lots of seating, but parking can be a mess in that area depending on what time and day you go. There is paid parking in the back and some street parking in the general area. Staff are polite, efficient, and seem to get paid to work out as they grate that peanut candy. Saw this bright colorful store as we headed out to dinner so decided we needed to try it. What is ice cream and peanuts ? Hummm. We parked in the back lot and made out way through Nijiya to get to Mosa. Better to go through the alley Mosa was bright scattered with tables and lots of young people (we're old) In wasn't sure what this was all about. Apparently they have ice cream "burritos", scoops, milkshakes and I'm not sure what else. We opted for scoops. Hubby got coffee, I wanted coffee and chocolate. Apparently the ice cream is not made there but sourced locally. The young man did not want to disclose which supplier . He said they make 2 flavors in house. The single scoop is served in a cute "flower pot" with a shovel. I thought it was really cute. Unfortunately my double scoop came in an ordinary paper tray that they use at luaus. I would have preferred it being stacked in the flowerpot . They add some shave. Peanut brittle and a couple slices of strawberries. We sat and ate the ice cream there. The place got really crowded. Funny thing is my husband noticed the cashier did not know how to calculate the bill and give change. They need to get a cash register or calculator and implement some controls. It was pretty busy but the service was very fast. I noticed 3 people working, 2 behind the counter and one at the register. While I ordered they kindly answered that the mini wrap has 1 scoops of ice cream and the regular has 3 scoops. They also asked if I wanted peanut toppings with it and I answered, "Yes please!" We ordered the tanghulu strawberries for my husband, a strawberry shake for my son, and the mosa crepe wrap for me with 1 scoop coconut, 1 scoop strawberry and 1 scoop ube ice cream. The mosa wrap was definitely a win for me. It came in a hand wrap not a plate, which made it perfect to go and easy to bite. I love that they had peanut shavings in it. It gave the ice cream a full nutty flavor. My husband says, "The strawberries were delicious and ice cold!" And my son drank his entire strawberry shake with no complaints. He did let me have a sip, it was super thick and they did not skip out on the ice cream. He said he wants to come back for more super smash bros. And I think the shake too! He explained what makes the shop special -- they shave peanuts or macadamia nuts into a candy-like texture and add them as a topping to the ice cream. They also sell drinks and milkshakes. The owner has another store in Waikiki as well. We tried the coconut and mango ice cream with peanut topping, and it was very refreshing. The cost is about $9. Since this location is close to UH, there is a lot of foot traffic, and many students visit this place. FYI, the parking has no attendant- you download the QR code and it magically charges you. The first hour is free. It's a really cute shop with cheerful decor and a bunch of tables. BUT.. it was GOOD! Not hurt your teeth sweet and it was very creamy. Loved the melon flavor! There were huge slabs of mac nut and peanut candy which was hand shaved into fine topping. That was put into the bottom of the cup, then the ice cream and then topped with more of the shavings. The texture and the flavor combination were yummy. The ice cream was in between a soft serve and regular ice cream. I'm hooked! There was merch as well- T-shirts, jute shopping bags with their logo as well as slabs of peanut candy $10.
