Food from here is usually very good, but recently every time i get some type of pressed sandwich it is covered in burnt charcoal pieces from the press. Absolutely love this place. They have a variety of prepared foods displayed in case. They have a butcher with excellent cuts of meat. But I normally come here for the sandwiches. My favorites are the Alphonsina, hot roast beef, fresh mozzarella and motor oil gravy on a hero and the El Fuego, Cappa ham, hot soppresatta, hot capicollo, provolone and sliced hot cherry peppers on a roll. What a cool little Italian market! Though not the largest store, there is a ton packed in here - cookies, fresh bread, sandwiches, desserts, pre-made food, and more. The employees were friendly and helped guide me to the right sandwiches on their deli board. They also told me that they do catering and local delivery on orders over $20. Like I said, they pack a lot into a little! The sandwiches were fresh and tasty, but not overly large. One hero roll is enough for me for a meal, but didn't feel like one of those delis where it really should be eaten in two sittings. If any critiques, my wife thought the bread was a bit crunchy. I'd have to agree that it wasn't soft the whole way through, but I enjoyed the crunchier outside with fresh, soft inside. read more

I've been a couple times but this last visit I got the Eggplant Caprese sandwich on a sub roll. Outstanding. Fried eggplant, roasted peppers, fresh mozzarella with EVOO and balsamic glaze on a nice crusty Italian roll. read more

Ordered a pasta and macaroni salad for a birthday bbq lunch. The portions were generous and only took about 25 minutes to make. My only feedback would be to add a little more salt or seasoning. Nice family owned establishment. Clean and well organized inside. read more

First timers. Ordered the turkey, Brie, arugula and fig jam panini. Was delicious and very filling. We could have ordered one and split it. Bought the chicken burgers with provolone and spinach from the meat counter. Thought we would try them out and replicate ourselves when we bought the Ingredients at the food store. Sometimes I feel a bit pessimistic about places that have such positive reviews. I always think, "are these reviews even real? Is it over hyped?" Well I am here to tell you it's is NOT over hyped. Had an AMAZING experience catering my husband's birthday. Guests were raving about the food and everybody wanted to know where it was from. Try out the market yesterday, the staff was nice and pleasant to deal with . They food looked amazing great displays, but I found the food I bought to be only average in taste . I had the roast beef with mozzarella and their gravy which was average, not Hoboken good . I found the mozzarella fresh to be excellent and mostly best in the area . They market have a large array of products and food . I find that food that's left out like this get dry out and stall . Prices are little on the high side . I happened to overhear her name when i was leaving the store, I believe it's Patty. Patty is one of the most impolite people I've ever encountered. She doesn't only make me feel very uncomfortable but others people i know as well .. This is not the first, second or 3 time this has occurred while me or my mother has stopped here..I was there last week with my mother and this is what took me over the edge as we got to the register unfortunately she was there & my mom asked about which stuffed bread she thought was the best & she literally rolled her eyes like she was annoyed like she was being bothered she asked. Even the other cashier looked at her in shock of how rude she was being & whispered sorry. This lady always makes it like she has something better to do then to ring up my Groceries and take my payment. Mazzella's has so many delicious food options & probly one of the best Mozzarella I've ever tasted. Moving back to Mountainside and had Mazzella's cater my Christmas Eve dinner for my family. There were seven of us and they customized quantities of portions I needed which was awesome and so convenient. The pick up was so very organized but most importantly the food was just amazing- chicken francaise, (which I over cooked a bit so be careful), eggplant rollatini, (the best I have ever had), cavatelli and broccoli, caesar salad with homemade dressing, (again the best I have ever ordered out), and for the kids amazing mozzerella sticks and chicken fingers. Very impressed with their catering for a birthday party. We ordered chicken Parmesan, eggplant rollatini, lasagna and sausage and peppers for 30 people. There was plenty of food plus everything was delicious. That plus salad, bread and cookies for a reasonable price. Thought the staff was first rate. My wife talked to the owner plus the guys who we dealt with who took our order plus the guy who delivered and set it up were really good. Thought they all did a great job.
