Moshi Moshi.. you have become my current obsession! I first tried Moshi Moshi on DoorDash and because it was soooo good.. I needed to go in to try other things. So, here we go.. You CANT go wrong with any Ramen option they have - every one is great (plus you can add more things from the menu into your soup as you go.. try the fried tofu and pickled greens!). The wontons are amazing with that kimchee sauce.. the boa was a little too sweet for me.. and the chicken wings were good but would be waaaaaay better with that kimchee sauce they use on the wontons! Fabulous. Want delicious ramen? Please this is the best in Tacoma. I enjoyed the vegan ramen! I got fried tofu added and glad that I did. They know how to transform tofu! Great place. I have been coming here weekly since it opened, the menu has really evolved and currently serves the best ramen, gyoza, and variety of Japanese drinks/cocktails in town. The menu is both diverse and constantly changing, with many options regardless of if you are new to Japanese cuisine or a certified Japanophile. The food is always fresh, well planned, and well executed. The staff are friendly and helpful, particularly Rose and Sam (typically at the bar). The space is warm and inviting but intentional, from the wall murals (critters enjoying presumably the house ramen) to the anime on over the bar. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have delicious, authentic, and fresh Japanese food in an affordable and comfortable setting. Highlights on the menu: Tonkotsu ramen (incredibly savory pork based broth; simply the best), Gyoza (perfectly braised pork dumplings), Goya mazeman (thick noodles, thinly sliced beef, in a savory melody of rich egg, sweet and savory sauce, caramelized leek, and fresh crunchy herb and veggies; my new favorite hangover food). Cigarette smoke tasting food & restaurant This place seems like a 20 something hipster hangout. The food is good and bad. One needs to be careful what they order. The meat in the ramen we tried, twice, had an odd taste to it....not sure why. This place is also expensive. Be prepared to drop about $60+ bucks for two (food and drink). Lastly, the male cooks and bartender go outside, stand right next to the entry door and smoke cigarettes. So when ppl come into the restaurant the cigarette smoke blows throughout the room. It breaks my heart to write this review. When moshi moshi came to town, they had a really authentic menu and good execution. It's been a step up from the ramen I make myself when I need a gourmet comfort food night. I've lived in Japan for several years, and it was nice to have such a simple menu that reminded me of there. And it was good for years. Not sure what happened. Slowly items that were typically expected parts of a bowl of ramen were added as itemized add-ons. On my latest order, the noodles were different-- typically on a lazy night, i will buy frozen raw ramen noodles from uwajimaya to cook up quick, which aren't the best quality, but they're a couple steps above your $.10 dry ramen-- i could barely recognize the flavor distinction between the noodles from moshi moshi and $.10 noodles from winco. the broth was watered down. I'm wondering if this place is under new management/new chef, if not both. Where I used to be able to eat a standard bowl of ramen, now they serve instant ramen at 20x the price. Even a bowl twice as big in Japan would cost half the price and include all the add-ons they include for $.50-$1.50. I used to not complain about this because of the quality, but my most recent experience left me floored. What am I even paying for anymore? Separating dry noodles from styrofoam? So sad. read more

We stopped by on Sunday evening to try for the first time. The atmosphere is a bit dark and modern, appealing to a young crowd. I like the open kitchen with huge vats of simmering broths that you see behind the counter. Clean and tidy place. Our service was great. We were seated by someone and then served by a different person. Both were friendly and professional. We both ordered the miso ramen but I added pork belly to mine. It was delicious soup for sure and chock full of extra ingredients like soft tofu, seaweed, mushrooms, green onion, and bamboo (menma). I lived in Japan for a few years and I would not describe the flavor as authentically Japanese per se. It was different--the miso was heavier and the soup thicker. There was not nearly the quantity of soup you'd get in a Tokyo ramen-ya. A touch more liquid would improve it. The pork belly was a nice touch, tender and delicious, but also not very authentic. I've had char-siu pork but never belly. The noodles were cooked just right with a little tooth to them. They had a happy hour menu in the evenings too, which they were pushing, with lots of discounted drinks and light appetizers. We passed this time but I'm sure we will be back. I plan to try the Ton Kotsu next time, which is pork broth. A little pricey for ramen at $13.00 for a bowl, and then $3.00 more for the pork. In Tokyo, the most expensive city in the modern world, a decent bowl will only set you back 10 bucks. While it's not quite Tokyo ramen, it is the closest and best alternative we have! read more

I've been wanting to come here for a while. They opened last spring but I was caught up in a move and that proved to be very time consuming and eating out at nicer places just didn't seem like it could happen. Moshi Moshi specializes in ramen and if you go to a proper ramen restaurant you fall in love with the noodles all over again. I've been to a couple other ramen restaurant in the past couple of years and realize that good ramen comes from blood, sweat and tears and takes a long time to make to do it right. Definitely not a quickie meal if you want the real thing. Moshi Moshi does indeed seem to take time with their ramen dishes but I'm not too sure if it's the most authentic out there. I've just had other ramen dishes that make it really magical. Not putting down what I had here at all though. I had the chicken ramen which I really liked a lot and devoured it in no time flat. The chicken was extremely tender and very easy to eat. Steve got a vegetarian version and that was good too but I liked mine a bit more. We did get an appetizer that we really enjoyed. We split an order of the Shishito Peppers and they were great. They had a little bit of a heat but nothing too overwhelming in which your eyes get filled with tears and you start choking. Nothing like that at all. There was a great sauce that enhanced the pepper's flavor as well. We split a dessert. We got the Black Garlic Cannoli which contained of course garlic, a sesame cannoli, black garlic chocolate ice cream, chocolate crumb and miso caramel. That was excellent and just a half of one was all we needed. The garlic flavor was well controlled and not overpowering in the slightest. Please tell me what does "reservations for parties of more than four" mean? I called for a reservation and was told "well, we have this and this and this, so you might have a 20 minute wait. Do you still want it?" What does that mean??? Do we have a reservation or not? Do we have a reservation 20 minutes after what you said that I had a reservation for? And when we got there, we were still seated 20 minutes after what I was quoted. Do you take reservations or not?? Just say it's first come, first serve. Then people know what to expect. I will start by saying that this place has a great atmosphere and the decor is very cute. We really wanted to like it but unfortunately the food and service fell a little flat. The server was quite awkward maybe she was new? We ordered the pork belly dumpling to start. This was actually pretty good and the taro chips it came with were fantastic! We then got the curry ramen. The noodles were great, but there wasn't much else to the dish. I definitely recommend adding a few things. The 'prawns' turned out to be very tiny shrimp and were very over cooked. We didn't eat them and notified the server. She apologized and said she would inform the kitchen, but our bill was unaltered. This place definitely has potential! OH MY YUM!!!! Finally a ramen spot in the 253!!! Walking in, we loved the layout and vibe of the place. It was a Saturday night and thankful for their extended hour as it was about 8pm and we hate being those people who arrive before closing. I've glanced at the menu multiple time already so I had an idea of what to expect but our server went over the specials they offered that day and it was a great surprise as I was unaware that they did daily specials! Wait I think I recall a sandwich board by the door but didn't get to look at it as I was eager to get inside, hahaha! We started with a couple cocktail- I went with the matcha mule and Hubs ordered the suntory time old fashioned, amazing! For apps we went with the karaage and the pork belly bao, again amazing! I must say their karaage is now in my top 5! Ordered the Shio and Hubby went with the special which was a spin off on pho (I took a pic of his bowl, it was SO pretty) Both bowls were everything! The sushi is excellent, but the cocktails are secretly among the best you can get in Ballard - which isn't intended to be a knock on other restaurants and bars in Ballard at all. This is one of my family's favorite spots to dine out at. It's a ramen bar with an Asian fusion twist. Smallish diner atmosphere (maybe it's the big booth table lol). Very quaint, and the food is crazy good. These guys really know how to cook! Although they change their menu often, they continue to keep their signature tonkatsu ramen. I order this every time (don't forget the chili bomb). Very tasty! There's an explosion of flavors that hit all of your taste buds at once, and even though the ramen portions are huge, I can almost eat a whole bowl to myself. They did change the noodles for their tonkatsu ramen to the thin ones awhile back, so I always ask for the thicker noodles as I just feel like they mesh with the creamy broth so much nicer. My kids and I try a different appetizer during every visit...which isn't difficult to do since the menu is always updated when we go. Our favorites are the pork belly bao buns w/ taro chips, spicy beef dumplings, and the Japanese fried chicken. Their kool-aid pickles are so yum and colorful! Not sure if they still have these though. Every dish we've tried has always been super flavorful and delicious. I'm never disappointed or feel like my food is bland. The only reason for a 4-star review is because when we've ordered take-out, I've had a couple of issues. One time my husband was missing pork from the tonkatsu ramen (we didn't even order extra ), and the add-on menma for my ramen was missing as well. If you can dine in rather than take out...do it. Also, we've had bad service...only once. Seemed like the gal just didn't want to be there so we waited a long while for water, our menus, and to even order. She forgot to bring us one of our dishes, and our ramen came out at different times...so my husband was almost done with his when I finally got mine. I would blame this on the kitchen, but it would've been nice for the server to communicate that one of the ramens was taking longer than expected. Instead, she just set my husband's bowl down and walked off. It was just the one time when we didn't have great service, so it wasn't enough to detour us from going again. It also wasn't the first time we'd been, so we knew there were other servers that were super friendly and attentive, which is is why we've continued to go back. Came in on a Saturday night with a party of 6. Before driving out to the restaurant, I checked the website to see if there was a waitlist, in which it read waitlist wasn't open & to just come in. 30 minutes later, we got there & the friendly host advised me that there was a 45 min to hour wait. I agreed to get on the list since we were still waiting for the rest of our party to arrive anyway. To our surprise, the host called me within 15 mins & said they had a table ready for us. That's a star right there for not having to wait longer than expected. We got seated & server was quick to bring us water & came back a few minutes later to take our order. My husband ordered the Koterri Tonkotsu, son ordered spam musubi & I ordered the Kimchi fried rice, while I don't remember what the rest of our party ordered. The server was friendly & advised that the food was taking a bit since they were still making the broth. We understood they were busy so it didn't bother us much. We finally got our food. I mixed my Kimchi fried rice & took a small bite to taste & it was extremely salty! I asked my husband & our friend to try it as well in case my palate was just off. Sure enough, they both agreed that it was so salty. I called the server over & asked if I were could have a cup of white rice so I can mix in to reduce the saltiness but she graciously said that she would have them remake the dish. Waited a bit & she finally came back with the new dish & stated that "They took out the kimchi so that could help with the taste". Hmmm, then technically they just gave me regular fried rice instead of what I ordered initially. So tried this remade dish & it was still salty! The server came back & asked how it tasted & I told her it was still salty. She said she initially thought I said "spicy" that's why they took out the Kimchi. I said "no, I don't mind the spice from the kimchi at all. It was just really salty". At this point, everyone was done eating & I just didn't see the need to have the dish remade again so I just asked for a to-go box. That was definitely not worth $16 & most likely won't order that again if ever we do come back to this restaurant. Also, $7 for spam musubi seemed a bit pricey for what it was: rice was dry & hard, too much unagi sauce & so it was just salty. Overall, service was good but food was mediocre & like the other reviews on here read: "I've had better". From my experience, the food was just really salty. I ordered lunch from here today and got the Impossible Bao and Takoyaki. What I wasn't expecting was that it was $8 for a single "pork" bun. The bun was soft and nice but the "meat" was really dry, bland and tough. Takoyaki were fine if a little too soft, not quite meeting that crispy exterior i expect from Takoyaki and more like undercooked hushpuppies. When we first went inside, we were surprised by how cute the little restaurant was. They had nice decorations and a nice open bar area. We ordered the wagyu skewer as an appetizer, which was cooked perfectly and very pleasing to the palate. That was the only high point of our meal, because when we got our ramen, the flavor was way too rich and thick. It felt like we were drinking sauce, rather than soup. The ingredients within were very minimal. In my Curry ramen (made with halibut bone), all they had was an egg, noodles, some vegetables, and a pretty flavorless shrimp skewer. All of the flavors in the sauce/soup drowned out the halibut flavor, which I didn't enjoy. I had expected it to be more traditional, which it definitely wasn't. I only ordered the ramen noodles with chicken broth. The noodles were not cooked and the broth had a very musty smell and taste. Very weird. During these strange times when we get fine dining to take home and eat on our couches it's hard to speak of service or atmosphere, but the food at many restaurants speaks for itself. Moshi Moshi does ramen well. The curry ramen was rich and comforting. The miso ramen was satisfying and delicious. We topped it off with the spicy beef and peanut dumplings - perfect amount of heat and great flavor. So... Where do I start? This place is slightly overpriced, but I'll make my points below. It seemed T-Town has been buzzing over the opening of this new restaurant. After hearing from about 4 different people about this upcoming restaurant my spouse and I, self-proclaimed ramen enthusiasts knew we needed to come here immediately after it opened. After circling the block once because there isn't an obvious sign (yet?), we parked and walked in to a very well thought out layout and design. This place definitely makes you feel welcome with it's modern touches and comfortable seating that is perfect for groups. The service was already knowledgeable on the menu's offerings and very friendly. My spouse and I ordered the kaarage for $10 which was flavorful but small in portion for the price. We both ordered tan tan with two extras which brought our ramen to $18.50 each. The ramen came out with explosive and amazing flavor! It was so delicious. They are really doing things right when it comes to combining ingredients. The downside to this is that we paid $18.50 after our two extras. The base price for this ramen is $14.50. I ordered the extra kakuni and paid $3 for two small pieces. There also could've been more broth in the ramen. This was the least about of broth I've ever seen at a ramen place. Though this ramen is amazing in flavor, I do believe that the prices need to come down on ramen somewhere between $1-$2 in order to create more value for their product. Very cute, modern and hip and studio ghibili. Customer service was amazing, they were very attentive. Food presentation was nice but the overall taste was ok. We got the TanTan, Tonkatasu and Pork belly bao. The Boa was soft and full of flavor,but a bit vinegary, luckily I don't mind it. The TanTan was a little salty and i wish there was more soup. What a fun place. Kinda hard to find though, as it's tucked away next to its neighbor, and as far as I could tell Moshi didn't have nearly as much signage. Bar in front, I came for lunch, specifically for their ramen. I was pleasantly surprised to see they have their own namesaked beer. It says it's a pale, but honestly it seemed to be tilted more towards a heffeweisen or an IPA... just not hoppy. Now... as for the ramen.... I'm sorry to say, that I was kinda disappointed. I could see how it COULD BE much better than what I had, but what I was served was sub par. The broth was tasty, but the soft-boiled / pickled egg, was actually COLD. As were most of the veggies in it. Did I visit at a bad time? Should one really have to visit when the kitchen is getting more orders, in order to NOT get a fresh ramen version of a microwave burrito? (That's, NUCLEAR HOT broth and everything else is cold.) Honestly, I'd recommend they hold the ramen in the kitchen for 3-5 minutes under a hot lamp just to fully warm all the ingredients, because the cold veggies, ham, and egg had me wondering if I was going to need to plan on spending the weekend in the bathroom. I honestly want to give the place another shot sometime, if I get down to Tachoma again. But next time I'll definitely ask that they don't serve the ingredients still back-of-the-fridge COLD. Also...
