I loved coming here fall season and seeing all the Halloween decorations out. Came here after browsing The Original LA Flower Market which is literally next door. My friend who took me here is a crafter so it was just fun walking up and down the isles with a cart looking at each section talking about all the projects we could do. We got fun pots for our plants we got from the flower market, gifts for an upcoming bridal shower that was Halloween themed and yarn for my crochet addiction. Yarn was mainly acrylic in the brand of Loops and Threads, but there was many colors choices. I was lucky and happened to get in on the 30% off sale and picked up some yarn that would have been more expensive say at a Joann's or Michaels. If you're a crafter do check out this store in DTLA there is a lot nearby for $8 you can park. read more

This is my go to for everything party or holiday. I would rate it 5 stars but the area around this store is less than ideal. The parking structure next to the building is perfect for easy in and out access. The store also validates so that's cool. I live in Orange County but come all the way over here because I know they have exactly what I need. I come here in days when I'm not throwing a party just to see what they have . Employees are really friendly even though they open up at the crack of dawn. Prices are better than most party stores and my kids love shopping here. read more

I was having a good shopping experience until Julia felt to shame me for wanting to know how many panels are in the box. Umm the display showed 1 panel so I picked up 3 boxes why would I play myself if your manager is saying their is 4 panels in the box. Very rude and had so much to say under her breath. I had to tell her about herself.. and it felt a little discriminatory because the lady before me.. she just decided to make the charge 99cent because the other associate was taking to long but here she is dragging me along. Took my neighbor and myself out on a #Nurserycrawl July 4th weekend. We about LOST OUR DAYUM MINDS!! Plant pots can be so expensive but not here sure... they have a LOT without the drainage holes so it can be tricky depending on what sort of plant you have. I suggest you look around a bit on the retail side and you'll find a variety of those to choose from. Also discovered the inexpensive decorative planter stands and 3 Tiered Dessert carriers - can also be used for tea sandwiches as well. Park in the parking garage connected to Moskatels and just get it validated. Especially in this summer heat... if you plan it just so you can scootch out and wander through the flower mart for plants! TIP: The validate parking if it's right upstairs. Less one star because it was confusing because the front part of the store is for wholesale members (10% off the listed price I was told). The back is where you have to go to pay for your products as a non member (sticker price). But nobody told us that and wasn't as visible. The back has more cashiers and there can be a line during weekends. They do not accept military discounts like Michael's does though. Wow this store has it all. It's like a Michaels/ hobby lobby on steroids. If you want to do a craft or have an idea this is the place to come to. The store is immaculate and extremely well decorated and the assortment is by no means small. The only downside is that it's actually more expensive than michaels and no one greets you or when you need help they seemed bothered. It gets 3 stars for great selection but it could of got 5 if it had a culture that embraces customer service. read more

It's a basically a Michael's , it's just in downtown Los Angeles. It's expensive. Very. If you come here because of the floral supplies, there's many places in the area with a better selection and prices. Your mass merchants, online, and even the dollar stores have lots of crafts at better prices. Parking is only validated if you spend $10 or more. It will cost you if you're only on an exploratory visit for your event. The parking attendant only accepts cash. It's 2024! Most people don't carry cash. read more

If you like Michael's- you'll likely enjoy this spot, too. It's a little less organized but has the basics. One big point- it has decidedly less helpful employees than Michael's. They always seem to want to talk to each other and if you ask for help, aka interrupting their conversations to ask- they seem bothered in a way that transcends time itself. During the holidays they have a pretty cute selection of wrapping paper. Their ribbon section is nice as well. I mostly make paper crafts and wish they had open stock paper, but their selection of cardstock is good. I generally come back every few months. Had zero expectation of finding a super festive array of displays today, boy were we pleasantly surprised! Found an expandable bamboo trellis and up to 8' bamboo poles in a variety of widths starting at under $5!!!! I use the trellis and poles to provide a barrier from predator birds and our fish pond. So many decorations, a super small Chanukah display, but all in all a good variety of colors to suit anyones anything! read more

The variety of items here is astounding, you can find anything from balloons to home decor. It's a huge store and it has almost everything you can think of when it comes to party decorating. I have been a customer for more than 30 years. It broke my heart to find out it is going out of business. I have purchased some of the most beautiful decorations from Moskatels over the years. Nothing better to compare with the quality and beauty of each and every item. My favorite decorations were from Halloween and Christmas. What will I do now??? There is no other place I know of where the type of decorations they displayed are for sale. They were the only reason I would risk even going into L.A. I live in Ontario. Even though it was at least a 35 minute drive to get there, it was worth it. I will sooooo miss them. read more

I was told about Moskatel by a friend of mine who is a great interior decorator, he always shops there and I needed some items for my daughter's wedding! What an amazing place its like Michael store times 100! lol Every isle is so nearly stocked and its very easy to self help. The front of the store has set of cashiers and so does in the back! Oh if u meed to use the restroom, use Moskatels, it's the cleanest you find in downtown LA! lol Also they have huge parking above and all the level to the roof! I think I got 2 hrs free parking with purchase which helped me alot since ingot what I needed and had enough time to go to couple of other stores near by! Pros. They carry a lot of items which are well stocked. Great place to buy in bulk. Con. So much more expensive than Michael's arts and craft stores. At least at Micheal's you can use coupons and most of the time, there is a sale going on. Even on line. Will Never shop here again. The employees here are zombies. Probably because of the hours they work but they are so out of it. When I checked out I literally could have walked out of the store with over half a cart of stuff that the cashier was so unaware to. I handed it all to her to make sure she rang it up. Never once did she go over return policy with specific items that were "final Sale". She seemed overwhelmed and not trained. Whenever I go to the wholesale side they can never find my account and its so frustrating and such a waste of time but they are so understaffed and their lines take forever. Let me rephrase , the quality of their staffing is piss poor. There are people there working but they are not efficient, or quality employees. Today, When I went to do the return they said these unused items were not returnable, but the manager approved it because they never stated it. Then another busy body employee butted in and took it off the receipt and then I had to fight to get my money back and tell them to leave us alone. They had the audacity to not validate my parking after I spent 4k dollars on saturday, saying I have to buy something . I only returned a couple hundred dollars of things I did not use. The prices are insanity here. You can go to hobby lobby, Joannes or other craft stores and not get taken advantage of. Moskatels is like the mafia of crafting. I will never shop here again. There goes 10 years of business / 20 years of future business. I am a production designer, drag queen, and very crafty person and spend my life's budget on supplies. If you're from LA and a GenX, you already know Moskatels is the original Michael's. Now, it's like Michael's on steroids. This place is a crafters/diy-ers dream. They have EVERYTHING. You like floral arrangements? They've got artificial flowers in every color (and size). Need party decorations? They got it. How about a little knitting project? Yarn, needles, books. Cupcakes need a little oomph? They have the Wilton sparkles. I like Moskatels for inspiration and ideas. I went looking for one thing and came out with a basket full (I'm working on a big project) Parking can be a little tricky. It's an old building so the parking lot is kinda tight. Park on the roof if you have a big truck. Parking validation for 2 hours with purchase. The down side is their hours...6 AM - 3 PM. And return policy (5 days). Walked through this store because will parked in the parking garage that was attached to it. My focus was the fabric district but as soon as I walked into this store, I wanted everything. This is like a crafters paradise. They have lots of seasonal products and can't wait to see what they will have in stock for Halloween. They have a great section for Cricut items which I enjoyed. If you need any arts and crafts supplies, moskatels is your place. Specifically my goal was to find rolls of crepe paper here to make giant roses. They have a good assortment of colors and the prices aren't bad. Some places where you can order online try to over price their stuff. I think for a 3yd roll it was less than 5 bucks. My only issue was that one of my rolls was short. I could get two roses from each roll but the roll that was short I only had enough to make one. So unfortunate. Cooool!!! I honestly have not heard of Moskatels until I started working in Downtown LA and oh man! Can this place be any cooler?!? This place is like arts and crafts smorgasbord! An Arts & Crafts-Creative haven! From Glue sticks, glitters, spray paints and thistle, seasonal decors and many things that some I don't even know what the heck it's for! There are two sections in the store; wholesalers and retail, if you have a sellers permit then it is your lucky day, shop away like you are in Costco as the discount can be quite significant! However, The retail price of items aren't too bad, it is considerably cheaper than buying at a specialty arts and crafts shop. They have validated parking which is GREAT!! especially in this part of LA, I swear, it is one of the best things about this store! In general this store is pretty darn cool- there is seriously tons of inventory and surprisingly this warehouse is huge!
