Man, I hate writing these reviews. But this was possibly one of the worst bar experiences I've ever had. Like many others said, it took a long time to be greeted. Then took a long time for a server to come to our table once we were seated. I'm not trashing on her, I'm sure there was a lot going on, but watching her, she was just running around a lot, prioritizing the wrong tasks, and not being efficient. It took be a good 30 minutes to get my drink. I ordered the margarita. And specified salt on the rim. I got a tall (who has ever had a margarita in a tall glass) with no salt. I took one drink and literally CHOKED. I choked, had to drink water, and my throat felt like I had drank sand. WORST margarita I've ever had. It was so bad that I went to find her immediately, asked for my check, and paid. She kept asking if I wanted my margarita to go (Savannah is a to go drink town). I said no, it wasn't my style (trying to be polite). I've drank and many a dive bar, but THIS was too much. Literally terrible trash. I didn't have food. I've included photos of the menu. Typical bar food. But if the food is anything like the drinks. Big fat NOPE. I am stunned at how bad this experience was. The view is nice, but there are many other riverfront restaurants with similar views and better drinks and selections. Arco (where I went after) is one. So not impressed with the service. My husband got a table for us. He had already ordered. The waitress came over to the table after my husband waved to her, she was very hard to find. She saw me, never introduced herself and did not ask if I needed something to drink. She seemed very unfriendly. While we sat waiting for our food, I watched as 6 other people came and left due to the time it took this waitress to take their order. I spoke with the manager and I am hoping she will take care of it. My husband sat there for 20 minutes waiting for the check. The food was very good. read more

9-21-24 6pm As we were walking on the riverfront there is a place on the road you are walking under a building and people are headed up in an elevator to a Roof top bar. So I tell hubby let's go. Well this ended up to be our best stop all day. When we got off the elevators there was tables with guest with drinks and food. Who knew we arrived at the Hyatt. We went to look for the hostess station and was told we had to order drinks at the bar and carry them outside to a table. Well the drinks were off the chart's amazing! Fresh juices were used to make my Cosmopolitan. As we got a round a drinks we sat outside what a beautiful view. If we wanted another drink back inside and repeat. Makes zero sense as there is table service but not if you are only drinking?! Thus one less star for lack of any service or hospitality. Although the bar staff was great and we tipped them as such. Definitely the only redeeming quality of the entire River front. That and the candy shop below. read more

They have a great patio outside. They should really utilize it properly. Come on Hyatt. You can do better!!!! Update menu, update the desert menu! I mean a cookie and something u call ice cream is the best u can do? Probably the worst desert I had. Grocery stores sell better ice cream. Would be great to have the actual cups of tea and coffee instead of paper cups for starters. Just the space could be used and developed into something really cool like they have in the roof top of other hotels next door. For breakfast, you have a choice of either an ala carte or buffet; we opted for a buffet. They have a wide variety of choices. I loved their multi grain croissants among all the breads I tried. For dinner, their fried tomatoes were delicious. The calamari was crunchy, a little too crunchy, though, for my taste. The red sauce was flavorful. I loved it. The arugula salad was simple yet satisfying. The she crab soup tasted a little too buttery, less of a craby taste. We've also ordered their fried chicken, which we ate in the room. I didn't fancy it. It was lacking more batter. The chicken meat was bland. It should've been marinated more. The staff were very nice, friendly and attentive. They made sure my coffee cup always gets refilled. Empty plates were always cleared. Food is always replenished on the buffet table. On Fridays and Saturdays evening, they have live music. It was entertaining. Moss and Oak is located in the Hyatt. If you're looking for a rooftop that is not too hot and has a beautiful view, this is it! We didn't even need a reservation for a family of four at dinner time (but maybe you would on a weekend?). You can see right down River Street and watch the boats pass on the river. The restaurant was classic upscale American food. We got the burrata salad, poutine, and wings. The burrata salad was good but nothing special. My family loved the poutine. They said the meat on top was amazing. I thought I'd be able to shared the poutine with them but the meat kind of overtook the dish and there was barely any cheese. It was more a meat and fries dish (still good! but not poutine). Their drinks here were good, and I had the chance to try a local Georgia cider. read more

Took more than a few minutes to be greeted, after sitting the waiter took another 10-+ minutes to get my order. It was not crowded, after 7PM. M&O burger was undercooked, tomato tasted funny, and the cheese grits were not cheesy. The waiter literally brought shave cheese for me to stir in. Underwhelmed and disappointed since the burger was talked up by another staff member. I'll try again the next trip, see if the amazing burger can live up to the hype. read more

Do not dine here. I was, and while writing this review, a guest at the hotel. The food is fine, not worth the price by any means and two items were not correct (burger was not cooked medium, and lo mein was without tofu), but service took an hour and forty-five minutes. The hotel offers a complimentary appetizer and neither the front desk nor restaurant staff informed us it was only for the fried green tomatoes until after our meal. I then asked multiple staff members how we were supposed to know and each blamed the other set of staff - front desk or servers. I also explicitly stated I was not looking for a comp., just how to know the process better for next time. I also then learned we could receive a complimentary drink with our stay, but we were also not informed what drinks those were until our bill arrived. Besides the slow service and the waitress not checking on us - it took 30 minutes just to order - the food is not worth the time, energy, or money to eat here, even if you are a hotel guest. You will be not be prioritized and hotel management has not empowered or trained staff to handle service issues whether it is a basic customer question or a lag in service from over-seating sections/understaffing the kitchen. Please know that I am not overstating the experience. All said, I sincerely belive the restaurant could be good if service improves, but it is NOT worth your money as it currently stands and you should not risk your evening or time spent on your vacation finding out. read more

The service was great, our waiter was quick and made sure we had everything we needed. We were traveling and stopped for the night at the Hyatt. It was pretty late in the evening so we decided to go here since it is part of the hotel. We had a variety of different dishes. My burger was dry, I know I ordered will done, but not dry. Food was great but very overpriced. $20 for 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, 1 biscuit, and whole red potatoes mixed with onions and bell peppers. I was there for breakfast and was sat right away. The service was very poor. I had to wait for my order to be taken and for the food to be pre cooked on a buffet it took a very long time to get it, 15 minutes. After getting my food the server never came back except to bring my check. The ambiance was ok. The seating was well lit and the view was of the motel lobby so I was able to people watch. Horrible service followed up with equally horrible food. We came here with family on a Monday night for dubs. We waited at the hostess stand to be seated for 15 minutes. The hostess could be seen laughing and interacting with other employees while several families waited eagerly at the hostess stand. After she finally began sitting families she waited roughly 5 minutes before returning to seat the next family. (The place was over 1/2 way empty at the time but appeared well staffed) After finally being seated we sat without seeing a waitress for another 20 minutes. We finally had to ask for help from a passing server. We placed our order and after another 15 minutes still had not even received waters. I attempted to go to the bar and ask for waters but was ignored completely as I stood directly in front of her at a nearly empty bar. After an hour and half we finally received our food which was overcooked and cold. The family barely touched it. The $130 bill was tough to stomach. I would NEVER eat here again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

One particular afternoon, we stopped at the bar and there was no one working it. We sat for 10 minutes and saw many of the waitstaff working the restaurant but no one even greeted us or offered us anything. The atmosphere beats the hell out of the food. The burger is borderline boring with a ton of bun. Some guys like a ton of bun, but I'm not one of those guys. Fries needed salt so bad that I swam to the ocean and back via the river to get the job done. Of course not, but I did snag a salt shaker from another table. The Flatbread Caprice tasted like basic math--if that were possible. I would not return to this restaurant or recommend it, but it could be a great spot for a drink if you're a couple. I have never written a review before. However, my experience here was unlike any I've had at any other restaurant. The waitress who took our order clearly did not want to be there. She never smiled or greeted us and kept her word count to a minimum. My mom and I didn't find this to be a huge deal but we were excited for our experience her to end. We got to ordering right away, my mom asks for sour dough toast (we came here two days ago and ate sour dough toast). The waitress responds by telling her they don't have that, my mom says how she just got it and the waitress goes to the kitchen to ask. She comes back out and says that they do have it. My mom then asks what kind of fruit comes with a side of fruit, the waitress looks at my mom blank face and says I don't know. She seemed disgusted talking about the fruit so of course my mom did not order the side of fruit. Still, we are just here to eat and leave. I order next, the pumpkin and cinnamon French toast (picture of meal and menu item included in review). What came out was laughable; two pieces of wet bread on a plate of canned pumpkin puree. I had been desiring to visit Moss + Oak on several different occasions. First, I've seen it come up in my a couple articles. Then I was always curious about the bar I could see off of River Street. Finally my husband and I came in for date night. These are the strongest drinks I've had in Savannah thus far! I had the raspberry lemon drop, and another drink that I'll have to remember the name of based of the pictures I posted, if I did. I probably could have had a 3rd, but it's probably for the best I only stuck with my 2 tasty drinks. I had a flatbread with mozzarella and my date had the burger. Instead of the fries he had the house salad which was really good! We also tried the fried green tomatoes for starters. It was very different from other FGT that I've had in Savannah. As you face the registration desk at the Hyatt, what is known as Moss and Oak is to your left toward the back of the lobby. Moss and Oak covers a lot of territory. It includes a restaurant, a bar (with a big outdoor patio), and a take-out market for grab and go salads, sandwiches and pastries. I had two breakfasts and a lunch here. The buffet breakfasts were outstanding- an omelet station, plenty of hot foods (including grits!), plenty of fruit, and a big bakery island for breads, muffins, biscuits, etc. For lunch, I went to the menu and selected a garlic roasted cauliflower salad ($12) with farro, feta cheese, pinenuts, Kalamata olives, collard greens, and fresh lemon. Stayed at the Hyatt Regency where this is located, and had breakfast here multiple days. The food itself is adequate, and I had no issues. Service is a bit on the slower side; something to account for if you have immediate plans after for things that are on a time line. Overall, my biggest con was the price - being within the hotel, there is an obvious markup for things that necessarily may not be worth it. If you are not staying at the Hyatt, I would recommend checking out one of the several other options in walking distance over this place. read more

Shockingly bad. It's hard for an establishment to do breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, it seems like this place doesn't even try. Had a New York strip, and it seemed like it was steamed.
