Guacamole and chips
Jeff J.

The handcrafted margaritas were amazing and were the authentic tacos. The service was fast and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great place to meet friends for some food and fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Taco Salad

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Location is cute, food is alright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The guacamole was very good - it was super fresh. I ordered the taco salad and was underwhelmed. The pineapple mango salsa doesn't blend well with the other flavors in the bowl. The beef is not very seasoned/flavorful... the cheese on top is what looks like Walmart brand shredded "Mexican cheese." [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is good, patio is cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd probably try their tater tot nachos if I came back, but I don't really plan to be back in this area of Hoover soon.

The best salsa I've ever eaten! It's a little spicy, savory, but bright and refreshing all at the same time. Their thin, crispy chips are the perfect accompaniment. (Salsa and chips are endless so be sure to ask for more when you run out!) Queso is amazing and creamy as well. They have quite the plethora of taco options. I love that you can pick any two and make it a meal. I opted for the Buffalo chicken taco that includes house made "screaming buffalo" sauce, bleu cheese and queso fresca - emphasis on the screaming because this was ~spicy~. I also got the pescado which includes grilled fish, poblano slaw, pineapple mango salsa & cilantro. I always LOVE the option of a corn tortilla. The rice and black beans were nothing to write home about but good nonetheless. You place your order at the counter then find a seat - very casual. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's eclectically decorated and feels welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was very friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a nice outdoor area that'll be great for summer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But for now, have dinner there then ride around the Preserve neighborhood (that it's located in) and look at holiday lights! The perfect night right before (and after) all the festivities get started and we get tired of all the rich, savory holiday foods.

Burrito was alright. Not anything terribly unique about it. Chips and queso were pretty standard. Not much to rave about unless you're coming here for a marg or tequila.

Taco Tuesday Special - One of Each Buffalo Chicken, Adobo Chicken Taco and Gringo Beef
John S.

Another Taco Tuesday favorite. Ordered at the counter/bar and they give you a number for your table. Adobo, Buffalo & Gringo were this weeks Two Buck Taco Tuesday special and I chose 1 of each and an small order of Million Peso Queso. Service was a bit slow, not sure if they were short staff or that is typical since this was my first visit. I chose to sit outside as did most of the other patrons and enjoyed a nice pleasant early patio weather day. Queso was pretty typical but good enough that I finished it off. I liked all 3 tacos I tried and would get again. Buffalo was not too much heat and tempered well by the cheeses although I don't think I would like just that choice without another option. I definitely will be back and need to find a reason to be in the area for dinner so I can try the Margaritas and Mexican Burro.

The food and drinks were good. The food was came out pretty fast and was not a long wait. The atmosphere was good and Thursday was trivia night so that was pretty fun.

Very good spot for Fast Casual Tex Mex with a twist Go when there's live music, order the drink special, sit outside and enjoy!

Outdoor seating was very spacious and nice. I hope they bring out space heaters for when the weather gets cooler though! Got the ahi tuna, shrimp, and carne tacos. Overall, nothing to write home about. I've had my fair share of authentic street style to upscale American fancy schmancy tacos, and while presentation was a 9/10x the flavors were just not the best combo. Nothing was hitting. I would however recommend the pineapple salsa/ very good. Chips were fresh but mostly crumbs.

Came here for the first time to try out the drinks and tacos. Went with the carnitas and al pastor tacos and the old fashioned, and coconut rockarita. The drinks were decent, tasted great, fair priced. Unique margarita options which all seemed quite appealing to try out. The carnitas and al pastor meats were delicious. The sides that came with the tacos were mediocre. Nice location, cool atmosphere (didnt come during a busy daytime, so the place was vacant, but good music in background), good drink menu (fair price), good tacos (ok sides).

Chorizo Taco, Chips and Queso and Street Corn off the Cobb

The food, atmosphere and service here is always top notch. The burgers are some of the best burgers I've ever had anywhere. My go to meal is always the chips and queso with a chorizo taco and an order of street corn cut off the cob with a prickly pear margarita. These are my favorite things! I have tried almost everything on the menu and another excellent choice is the shrimp tacos, highly recommended.

Looooovee this place! We stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon after short hike through moss rock. The drinks were delicious and so was the salsa and queso! The staff is also super friendly and accommodating. Made me feel right at home! We also tried the chicken and Buffalo chicken tacos which were pretty tasty but the Buffalo definitely has a KICK to it. I was not prepared lol Overall, a great local spot! Stop by if you're ever in the area.

Great spot for an easy dinner in the heart of Moss Rock preserve. Prices are reasonable and food is good! Think mildly upscale Mexican, but not fancy. Lively atmosphere provides a fun spot for dinner. Quick turn around on food and friendly service.

This was my first time here, but my sons have been telling me for a while that I needed to try it…read more They were right! I also learned they've made the exciting move from being a food truck to their own brick-and-mortar location. Congratulations on such a wonderful milestone! I ordered the quesabirria tacos with a side of chips (the chips don't come with the meal). The tacos are served with consommé and a side of refried black beans. Everything was DELICIOUS! The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I'd give the quesabirria a 9.7/10. The only thing that would have made it even better for me would have been a little crispy cheese crunch. The salsa, which I had to request, was a bit spicier than I prefer. But then again, my son recently informed me that I'm a spice wimp... or something to that effect. So take that review for what it's worth! Not only was the food fantastic, but the service was friendly and FAST. The atmosphere is laid back and welcoming, and they even have a patio if you enjoy outdoor dining. Congratulations again on your new location! I'll definitely be back.

The food is good--I can't deny that. The tacos, in particular, are really good, and they're usually…read morewhat I order every time I visit. This time, however, I decided to try the quesabirrias, and unfortunately, they were disappointing. I also ordered a horchata, which I didn't think was very good. The biggest area that needs improvement is the customer service. I would describe it as average at best, and in some ways, closer to poor. I understand that no one is obligated to greet customers or wish them a good day, but when you're paying for a meal--especially at a place that isn't exactly cheap--you at least expect to be treated with kindness. During my visit, no one greeted me when I walked in or when they came to take my order, and overall the staff didn't seem very welcoming or attentive. While I was waiting for my food, I asked if I could get a little more horchata. The employee simply replied, "No, you have to buy another one." I responded, "No, that's okay." Honestly, if the horchata had been really good, I would have gladly paid for another one. It wasn't so much about having to buy a second drink--it was more about the way the situation was handled. Small interactions like that can make a big difference in how customers feel. I truly believe this restaurant has a lot of potential. If they improved their customer service and showed a little more warmth and empathy toward their customers, it could easily become one of the best Mexican restaurants in Birmingham. The food has potential, but the overall dining experience also depends on how customers are treated, and that's the area that still needs the most improvement.
