My son and I dined here for Mother's Day. The dining room was festively decorated in vibrant colors. Service was quick and friendly. My son's KIDS CHEESE QUESADILLA came out hot and cheesy. My taco sampler of the BIRRIA, BAJA FISH, and LENGUA was underwhelming. My BIRRIA received an up charge because of the addition of cheese, which is fine, problem is there was very little of it. It can out over seasoned and greasy as well. The Baja fish taco was unfortunately not prepared in the baja style. Few slivers of dried up fish were subbing in for the real fried tilapia. No cabbage in them either. They did not provide any limes or salsa for the tacos. You have to special request that apparently. My Lengua taco had plenty of meat but it was not fresh tasting. I was bummed as this was already three strikes on my tacos. But the glimmer on the horizon were my 1/2 DOZEN RAW OYSTERS w CEVICHE. This was...not good. We got a to-go order. The steak nachos were practically inedible. The steak, though plentiful, was tough and burned. The huevos plate consisted of two hard fried tortillas and two overcooked eggs...for $12.50. Unbelievably overpriced. The Al pastor quesadilla was drenched in grease. The cheese dip was cold. I normally like my tacos a little bit spicy, but I didn't taste anything spicy. To me everything looked homemade, even the chips and salsa. Came here for Taco Tuesday during what I thought was happy hour time around 6pm for food and drinks. However it was not happy hour time but drink specials and taco specials do not happen until around 8pm. I enjoyed my Birria tacos but I did not enjoy the drinks. Margaritas was not prepared well and there were only two flavor options which were lime and strawberry . The friends I did come with also stated how the drinks were not good. Many of them ordered the strawberry margarita and stated it was a lot syrup / more sugary and was not properly prepared like a margarita. It was also the first night of them trying a DJ and the music was good. Food was good but drinks need a lot of improvement. Probably will only be back for the food and that's it. read more

I found this hidden gem recently off of Green Springs. We went for brunch/lunch. I got a breakfast burrito and it was HUGE! It had a ton of meat. It was piping hot when I got it and I really enjoyed it. You could easily make 2 meals out of one of their burritos. I enjoyed the green hot sauce that they provided as well. I've eaten here twice, both times good but not great. It's pricy (I understand prices have gone up due to supply chain issues). It's not atypical for taco prices in Birmingham though so I can't totally blame them. You'll easily spend $50 for two people to eat. Nice for a treat every now and then! I have higher standards than most for Mexican so plenty of people will probably really enjoy this food and think it 5 stars. This used to be my favorite taco shop in town, but since they moved service has gone downhill. Don't order on Grubhub if you want to actually receive any food. They ignore all the Grubhub orders and refuse to give refunds when you show up to pick up your food. They are randomly closed and don't even have a counter to place orders at. I happened to be in the area so I figured I would grab an order of the nachos since they were once my favorite buds from this establishment. Now before going I did check up to see if they were still receiving great reviews. Needless to say I saw the previous review regarding chips and salsa however I just assumed it was dues to the nature of the chips being made in the establishment. Boy was I wrong I am not sure if the chips were made earlier and the cook tried to re fry them or if he literally dropped them in the fryer pulled them up and threw them in the box. I'm usually not picky about where I eat, and I try to never leave a bad review. However, I have never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't have rice... If they did have rice, it would've cost me 8 dollars just to get a small dipping bowl of rice and beans on the side.... To make up for the lack of rice they offered guac and tortilla chips. Well the tortillas were fried to a crisp and they told me they ran out of guacamolr but they could give me salsa or cheese. So i said fine cheese, she then came back with guacamole and said we just made it fresh...which leads me to think they usually don't have fresh guacamole. This place is very small and hidden next to a Little Caesars. Don't let the outside fool you inside is very welcoming. I was greeted immediately by a woman who seemed to do take the orders and bring out the food if you dine in. I ordered three chicken tacos and chips with salsa. She brought out the salsa and chips, you can see that the chips are homemade. They have an amazing crunch to them and the salsa has a nice heat on the finish. I then received the tacos, they were delicious and you could see the freshness from them. The green salsa was nice tangy flavor and the red salsa spicy. I combined both for a great taste to the tacos. The tacos were single tortilla, unlike other Mexican places that have a double tortilla. When I finished the meal the girl told me to leave everything on the table. It gave a feel like a full service restaurant but a casual dinner. Saw this place on a Saturday while looking for a place to eat in the Greenspring area after running some errands. We were the only group at the location being that it was noon on a Saturday, which kind of gave me a red flag, but still tried them. We were greeted by the owner, whom seem pretty nice and recommended her popular dishes. As a taco fan, I order tacos which were Alpastor, carnitas and barbacoa. The taste was favorable. They come with homemade tortillas, they reheated with the meat juice which makes it very savory. The size of the tacos are reasonable had three and they were satisfying. My mom order her the carne asada tacos and she said the flavors were good but for her taste bud she wanted the meat to be more grilled. They also have other options, so whatever you are in the mood for give them a try. This location has been here since March, so even though there is a lot of competition for Tacos in this area, this place will be in my list to come back. read more

This has to be your taco Tuesday go to! First of all, tacos are $1 each all day long and they're delicious! Their menu is a little hard to decipher, but they have authentic Mexican food including breakfast options, homemade tortillas, tamales and more! It's a very unassuming storefront in a strip off green springs. You order at the counter and your food is brought to you fairly quickly. The tables have tablecloths (probably for ease of washing) and they bring out hot sauces with your order. It's decorated very simply on the inside but with some cool artwork. My favorite taco is the carnitas, which is a slow roasted pork (unfortunately not included in the taco Tuesday special). All the taco options are great! This used to be my go to place for burritos, until I was served a burnt chicken burrito. The chicken wasn't slightly over cooked burnt, it was charcoal black burnt. Inedible burnt. Burnt it, wrapped it in a tortilla, and served it like nothing was wrong with it. If they would have said, "We need to cook some more chicken, because we burnt the hell out of it"...No, problem, I understand. Cute little off the beaten path place. We needed to find a place to hang out between kids baseball games. I went in and the music was a little bit loud and the girl behind the counter turned it down right away. We really enjoyed the food here... It is definitely more fresh than most Mexican places. The chips and salsa are not like any other Mexican restaurant. I like them, the others at the table were a little nervous to try them. It's a homemade green salsa. I thought it was great.
