I am a first-time customer of Mostly Hondas. I brought my Accord to the shop to have an intermittent starting problem fixed. Fernando quickly explained his initial thoughts on the cause of the problem and his plan to confirm and fix the problem. He then gave me a very reasonable cost estimate to do the work. A few hours later, my car was ready before the promised time AND he had adjusted the tire pressure and topped of the fluids as needed. I am reasonably confident that the intermittent starting problem has been fixed based on Fernando's knowledge and experience. I came to this shop based on reviews about the owner. I didnt want to check other shops because I needed my car fixed right away. I called the shop on a Monday morning and Rene answered. Explained what was the problem of my car and he told me to bring it in after lunch so that he could take a look at it. Brought the car in after lunch as promised. Right, when I got there, we test drove the car around the area and went back to the shop. He QUICKLY worked on the car and gave me a call within the hour. It was just a bad catalytic converted and an oxygen sensor that needed to be replaced/cleaned. read more

Anyone looking for honest mechanics should consider this place. I took an old Honda Accord in with what for all the world looked like a bad heater core. I was quoted $2000 due to the massive amount of labor It takes to remove the dashboard and replace the heater core. I received a call a few hours later that the actual problem was a fried blower motor that could be replaced for $500. I was recommended this place by a friend who has been taking all their cars here for years. She told me they're a very honest and fair priced mom and pops shop. Initially there was some confusion with getting my car looked at because I spoke to two different people who told me totally opposite things. This was a little frustrating, but in the end I felt they were very honest and I appreciated that. Since they were unable to help with my specific car problem, they referred me to a very honest 3rd party vendor. The 3rd party could have easily taken my money and made a repair that he knew wouldn't last, but he instead looked up my vin number and informed me there is a recall. He recommended I go to the dealership to see if the repair could be made for free since it's under recall. In the end, I got my car fixed for free (AC unit on a recent year Honda civic). Though there was some confusion, I really appreciated their honesty instead of having me come in and pay for something that ended up being free. I recently picked up a non Honda pickup truck. The first place I brought it to was Rene. Since I drive long distance, I want to be sure everything is in tip top shape. I had the radiator changed with new coolant and timing belt/ chain and of course the water pump thermostat, radiator cap and all belts as well. If you got to do it, do it right and all at once. Also changed the brake fluid and power steering fluid. I will have him look at the brakes the next time I'm in the area. It's always comforting to know when Rene works on your autos that he always goes above and beyond to insure that you receive a safe and worry free ride! I didn't know what a big job it was until I saw everything that had to be done to complete my job. I made an appointment with Mostly Honda to get rid of an engine trouble code which turned out to be an Engine Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve leak issue on my Ford Fusion. The car was towed in and the repair began right away, just as promised, with it being expertly repaired in only a couple of hours so that my wife would now be able use it for an out-of-town appointment, and at a very reasonable cost! So starting to drive home (while, luckily, still near Mostly Honda) the AC suddenly stopped working on my Honda on a 96 degree day. I decided to immediately return to mostly Honda to at least show Renee the issue and make a new appointment to repair the AC, but man did I get lucky as the shop happened to have a bit of extra time that afternoon and proceeded to quickly diagnose the leaking freon issue, replace the defective parts, and recharge the AC thereby making it function perfectly. What a relief, and again for a very reasonable cost! Mostly Honda isn't trying to be fancy, just good....Highly recommended! read more

Today my Check Engine Light went on and my car lost power. I called Mostly Hondas in the afternoon and they said if I got the car there in an hour they would be able to work on it so I hurried there (as quickly as the car would go...) and they took the car in while I waited nearby. They confirmed the diagnosis, provided an estimate and I was able to pick the car up in the afternoon, as promised! They also looked into another issue and gave me advice on how to fix it. I brought my Pilot in for a timing belt change 3 weeks ago. Yesterday I noticed 2 of my lugs were broken on the front right tire. I looked into it and found that the front right tire is removed for a timing belt change. The vehicle has not been into any other shop. The owner at mostly Honda refused to repair the lugs stating it's not his fault. But since no one else has worked on the vehicle, it's most definitely his fault. I'm not having a problem with the timing belt, but if they make a mistake it's definitely your problem. They're not going to make it right. read more

I've trusted Rene with my clunkers since 1996, when I brought my 1977 Honda CVCC to him and he was able to quickly diagnose and repair it and SAVE MY VACATION! Since then, I have moved several times, bought several different junkers and clunkers, but continue to seek out Rene for his honesty, integrity, and expertise. If he thinks it will cost more to fix something than it's worth, he will tell you. He doesn't try to nickel and dime you to death and if he doesn't know what's wrong, he will tell you instead of just guessing until your pockets are empty. I drive all the way from Brentwood to Concord just to have him check out my cars or to get a second opinion when some other mechanic tells me my car needs this or that... It's a small place, crowded, parking is limited and he is almost always BUSY. and I still make the trek. That should tell you something... I just recently had two instances where I used these guys and they were phenomenal! The first issue I had was an exhaust leak that turned out to be from someone trying to steal my catalytic converter. Renee welded up the damage to the tail pipe and got me on the road again. Second, I had brought one of my other cars to the dealer to figure out where an oil leak was coming from and after tearing down the car realized the dealer was completely wrong. Fernando helped me diagnose the origin of the leak get my car running again. This shop really went above and beyond on this job and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for service. Based on the reviews I took my car on two occasions to Mostly Honda. On my first visit I had an oil change and I paid $100 to have my key remote reprogrammed. I met Rene on my second visit because the key remote was still not working properly. Rene was sitting in the front office and based on his body language I got the feeling that my issue was not worth his time, no eye contact and dismissive. His employee on the other hand was really nice and tried to fix/find the issue. I paid an additional $13 for a new key remote battery because that's what Rene indicated to his employee was the issue. The battery was not the issue. So I left with a key remote that was useless. His employee was nice but I can't say the same for Rene. read more

Rene is an awesome guy. Mostly Honda has been great to me. The quality of service is very good, and the prices are very competitive. I have a 2006 Honda Civic. It is known to have cracked engine blocks, which is why Honda extended the warranty to 10 years. My block cracked about a month after the warranty expired and Honda wanted anywhere from 3-4k to fix it. That is when I brought it to Mostly Honda. Rene said, "let's try to fill it, and if it doesn't work, I will credit you for the engine block change." So we did that, but it didn't work. I was looking for an independent shop that specializes in Hondas close to my office. This shop had very good reviews. I made an appointment to have the valves adjusted on my high-mileage Odyssey. The appointment went fine - I dropped off at 7:30am with my key through the mailslot in the door. The car was ready in the afternoon and I got a call when it was ready. When I picked up the car and talked to the mechanic, I realized that the wrong spark plugs had been installed. When we figured that out, he said to come by the next day so they could correct the issue. I came back the next day and it was taken care of. When I talked over the mix-up with the owner, I believe they had ordered the correct plugs from their same-day supplier, but that vendor brought the wrong ones. There wasn't a double check when the parts arrived and since all plugs are visually almost identical, the wrong part number wasn't detected. Pros - I think these guys are Honda specialists Communication was pretty good all around When we noticed an error, they made good on it right away Cons - it is a very small shop, so I think for anything bigger than an oil change you probably need an appointment I'm absolutely willing to go there next time my Honda needs work, and confident in recommending the shop. I gave 4 stars because of the spark plug mix up - but the shop was fast and efficient in correcting the problem. read more

This one's a Subaru for the daughter that lives/works/schools in Tahoe. Once again Rene made drop off easy and accommodating, only this time we were leaving town ourselves for a long weekend away from cell coverage. We left him a note stating what we knew needed to be done and with a budget amount, fully confident in his integrity after our last experience. We returned home to an update and like last time Rene had gone above and beyond, addressing our initial concerns as well as additional issues he discovered. He did more than we expected for FAR less than we expected (and less than we told him to spend... if only our kids were as gentle on us financially! ), accommodated our pickup schedule; and just like the Kia, the Scooby now runs and drives like a new car. We really can't recommend this business more genuinely, they may be 'Mostly' Hondas but are clearly outstanding with other Asian makes as well. I have a 2004 Honda, the starter went out, I took it to Mostly Hondas on a recommendation of a friend which usually is not a bad deal. The first time seemed fine, it was when I had to go back that was the problem. It was a return trip for the same problem six months later. Mostly Hondas are more than happy to take your business, but if it involves you coming back due to poor workmanship or faulty parts forget it! At the time of pick up(which was two days later) he proceeded to call my wife a liar and that there was no problem at all before it was brought in but he replaced the starter again to appease us (which I have my suspicions on this happening at all). He also made sure in the paperwork that we would not be able to come back for future repairs if need be, which leads me to belive that he either knew he was installing inferior parts or was covering his trail for not installing anything at all. So here we are another six months has gone by and it is back in the shop (a different shop this time) for the same problem. The new mechanic (20+ years in the trade) says he has never seen the brand of starter that was installed and which by the way has an install date of 2008 (over a year ago) confirming my suspicions of not installing anything at all. So in a nut shell, if you have a Honda and need some work done I say steer clear of this place. Poor customer service, terrible/unknown parts and expensive to boot, not to mention that you will endure a tongue lashing if you question their workmanship, honesty or faulty parts. read more
