The installation turned out to be really challenging than expected, but he was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and willing to put in the extra time to work through everything. He even stayed after hours to make sure my CR-V was properly installed, adjusted, and safe before calling it a day. My car (lowered on coilovers) needed an alignment and they were open and had great reviews on yelp so I decided to give auto repair garage a try. I called in and they confirmed they could take my car. Ty (Not sure how to spell his name) did my alignment and was amazing he knew his stuff. He got my car on the machine and made sure my car didn't scrape on the bottom of the rack with using necessary pieces of wood. Got that dreaded check engine light. When tested it showed I had to get my thermostat and seal replaced along with replacement of antifreeze. Back in March of '24, I had an unplanned urgent family event come up, 500 miles (and 3 mountain passes) away. I knew my brakes needed to be replaced, as one had just started grinding. Time was very short, but ARG was able to work me into their schedule. Everything was done, before I had to leave and at a surprisingly competitive rate. My new brakes performed flawlessly, over the mountains... and back again. Then in July, I started having a very odd brake related issue. I communicated with ARG about what was happening. They were very responsive and ultimately determined that one of the parts they had installed was in fact, defective. A brand new part, made by a reputable manufacturer and bought through a reputable wholesaler. They went WELL above and beyond all expectations, in rectifying the situation, more than satisfactorily. Now, let me be clear about one thing. The defective part was most certainly NOT their fault and I certainly don't blame them for it. Thanks to Fred for going beyond what others would require an appointment for; brought my 2017 Subaru in because it had issues with the ignition; sometimes, it just wouldn't turn over. He took the time to assess the issue almost as soon as I pulled in that afternoon. and after a few minutes, after tightening several cables, the issue was solved. I had Auto Repair Garage replace the entire front suspension of my very old and dear pickup truck. It is my spare vehicle, and it's like a member of the family, but it used to really squeak a lot. I don't think I could rate this business more highly. I had a broken side mirror (the entire unit, not just the glass) on my 2019 Toyota Camry. I stopped by here on a Saturday to inquire and they told me that if I ordered the part they could put it on for me. Fred told me exactly how much it would cost and expressed confidence in the time it would take. I ordered the part that day from the dealer and picked it up Tuesday after work. Auto Repair Garage is nearby, so I dropped in to schedule the appointment. He figured he could do the job on the spot and he completed it within 30 minutes. As a comparison, the dealer would have charged twice as much per hour and was not firm on the time it would take. I have been hoping to find a trustworthy, reliable mechanic and I think I found one! It brought such piece of mind, and to have it done right away without an appointment versus having to wait until the weekend made me feel great. Driving with the mirror in the broken state was hazardous and embarrassing. The job involved removal of the passenger side door, and after assembly he made sure to test the mirror's functionality with the buttons on the driver's side interior. There are not any bells and whistles with this shop - no lounge, it operates next door to a smog shop that is closed, the signage consists of a banner that is practically hidden from street view, and even the name is plain. But after years of going to a dealer or just trying to find a shop here and there, I don't mind. I just want a place that I feel is going to charge a fair rate, do the work right, do it in a timely manner, and not give me b.s. It is very close to Chili's, and when I bring it in for the next scheduled service, I'll happily have a drink or meal there knowing my car is in good hands. read more

When I called here to book for my appointment for an oil change, the guy I spoke to asked details about my car to determine the cost. I believe he is the owner I spoke to, I was told $50. When I went there the day of my appointment, another guy said it's going to be $70. I had previously been to this place and was really satisfied with the service and that's why I decided to go back. I had previously paid $60 for an oil change and tire rotation. I understand due to the pandemic a lot of businesses are suffering and I still paid the $70, but a $20 difference is significant. read more

I left a message for their management to give me a call back about my vehicle. They called back and we had a conversation about possible repair options for my vehicle. The gentleman on the phone was very nice and very patient spoke to me about my vehicle and what he could possibly do. He didn't give me a bunch of promises but told me that they could give my vehicle look. It was a 2016 Cadillac ELR, which is basically running on a volt platform, the vehicle had an electrical charging situation and we talked about possible remedies and solutions. With his possible solutions I just might check the vehicle elsewhere, but I felt very comfortable and I would definitely take any of my other cars to his shop in the future for repair the way he handled the negotiation and conversation on the phone was very professional and I was impressed, this is why I'm leaving this grade 5 star review. He's one of the first auto repair companies that gave his honest opinion on a repair before even seeing the vehicle great job thank you so much. So... I came here a few times for an oil change and everything was fine. I decided to come back recently to get a leak fixed. I made my appt. 4 days ahead of time @ 11am, and AJ told me they needed to order parts for my service. Naturally, I assumed the parts had been ordered when I got there. NOPE. A young lady asked me if it was okay to pick up my car at the end of the day. I reluctantly said "Yeah..ok." Well, I never got a call saying the car was done. I called at 4:30 asking the status. She said "They're putting it back together..it should be about 1 more hour." At 5:58pm I called, no one answered so I left a v/m saying I hadn't heard from them, so I'm on my way. I get there and STILL have to wait 1.5hrs in the parking lot w/ my ride!!?? That ain't neva happened to me before! Mind you it's raining out (light rain). I asked AJ when did they start working on my car? He said, "A few hours ago" even though I had an 11am appt...Finally my car is pulled out w/ the front windows down (still raining out). I went inside to pay and discuss the service w/ AJ. The person who gave me a ride noticed my car was still running, & the inside of my car was all wet (steering wheel, power window switch, seat, etc.) Fred (owner) was standing there next to it yacking w/ another co-worker and didn't even notice my ride had started wiping the interior of my car dry. She asked him if there is a reason why my windows were down "It's raining!" He apologized and got towels..smh. I just hope I don't have any future problems w/ my power window switches since they were soaked! AJ is personable, but I won't patronize this shop anymore-they NEVER gave me a status update & I don't want to waste an hour and a half of my life after closing waiting for my car again... read more

I needed a full auto service done to my 2011 Toyota Highlander. Walnut Creek Toyota wanted to charge me $2300 for parts and labor for my car which I thought was absurd. Fred was the first to respond to my yelp message right away, whereas most of the other auto mechanic shops took at least an hour to respond to my service request, which I can completely understand. Fred and his auto repair garage did an excellent job on servicing and replacing parts from my Toyota Highlander. My car drives very smooth now, and the best part of it all was I saved at least $1k by taking my care to Fred's garage. Fred was very friendly, honest, and over delivered on value. He was able to have my car in and out within seven hours. All the other mechanics that eventually responded were sending me quotes that were priced in line with Walnut Creek Toyota's quote. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, it's important to find a mechanic who takes every safety precaution they can. Fred took extreme care with wearing a mask and thoroughly wiping down the car's interior and the outside door and handle after working on it. His service was efficient, friendly, and thorough. It's hard to find a mechanic who's open on Sundays, but not only was Auto Repair Garage open, Fred set up a time for me to come in that same day. He took a look at my AC unit (which hadn't worked for over a year), changed the oil, and also did a free inspection. When I returned, the AC was fixed (yay!) and Fred had a list of potential issues he noticed during the inspection (like old tires and leaks in the oil pan) which he went through with me. He advised on what needed to be done most urgently and what could wait, and was honest and upfront about pricing. I was quite impressed, not only with level of precautions he followed during Covid-19, but also by his excellent service. I will definitely be back! read more

I've been happy with all the work I have gotten done here. Whenever I needed a quote for anything he gives it to you straight forward. I had a recall done for my car and the dealership said I needed brakes, alignment and tires, and they quoted me over $1,000 for everything to be done.
