I'm not from the concord area, but I searched high and low for a lift kit and some advise for replacing wheels of my CX-50. I wasn't digging the 20" stock wheels, and I wanted to go less rims, more rubber. But, I surely didn't want to have a over the top modifies off roader. So, after calling around and doing research on my own, I needed some direction, someone to guide me but not too much that it leads me away from my intention for this small build. Other shops, particularly larger shops, they're also quick to reply and give suggestions, but it felt all too generic and not really hearing me out. However with PowerHouse and Geoff corresponding with me through every step of the way, and the assistance isn't overwhelming or rushed to get the sale/job - I truly felt he/them were the right choice. It's always a tremendously great experience when you're directly communicating with the person who is actually doing the build. Everything was clear cut and the process couldn't have been better. The results were even better. Now, if only I had more vehicles to modify, just because of this experience. One can only wish that there are more options to go to a smaller yet established places as a consumer. Gripe side note: like needing to go to the dealership because of a recall - I absolutely hate it. Had issues with my lift kit after the installer in Brentwood, CA completely botched it. Front end components of the lift kit broke loose. Called PowerHouse, spoke to Jeff, he was like, yeah - bring it in, lemme see what's going on with it. Brought it to him, told me that the nuts and bolts had loosened up so bad I had lost nuts, bushings and some sleeves. Mind you the lift was installed last year! Jeff agreed to take on the job, recommended since this was an aftermarket kit that I source the pieces he will need. I did, he held the truck at his shop for a week. Got the parts, the next day, he called to discuss things. Late the next day, he called, said it's fixed. When I picked it up, we talked about the findings. Showed me what he did, was extremely fair on pricing, great service, takes pride in his work and his shop. HUGE FAN. I have come to this shop multiple times, each and every time Geoff was able to install and fix issues that occurred post installation. I had MountainPass Performance Coilovers installed on my model 3 along with camber arms and the car drove much more aggressive and felt much better than stock. Geoff also assisted me with fixing small issues that came with the car. As Model 3s aren't built too well from the factory, Geoff was able to torque and eliminate random creaks. I've also returned to Geoff to uninstall my previous suspension set up as I plan on getting a new car soon. My Model 3 had to be made easier to drive so Geoff assisted with installing the OEM shock and struts along with the camber arms back on. My vehicle was making some squeaking sounds in the chassis and I couldn't figure out what they were. I found Geoff on Yelp and he had great reviews. We moved out here from back East and I needed to find a new shop to handle both my cars. I spoke to Geoff on the phone and his calm, non-pressured approach had me really interested to find out more. I prefer going to performance shops because I'm particular about the parts used in my cars. Sadly, in my experience, some seem not interested unless its a big project. That was absolutely not the case here. It started out with some new brakes for a GS300. Geoff had no problem with the PowerStop rotors and pads I sourced online. He put them on without an issue. He also did a quick inspection of the car to point out some future work. He wasn't looking to upsell, just wanted to give me a full picture of the car's condition. Next up, it was my A4 with a blown brake master cylinder. Again, no problem with online sourced parts. He also was able to locate a second broken part, and had no problem giving me a day to order the part online. In the process, a rusted out brake caliper broke. He gave me an update, found the part locally, and installed it without any extra labor. He even tossed in the diverter valve I had in the trunk, which I had been meaning to put in before going Stage 1. Good shops are always hard to find and I'm glad I found this one. My boyfriend came here to get his coilovers fixed since the last shop installed it incorrectly (be on the lookout for that review). He called and spoke to Rob (owner) last week and scheduled an in person appointment since the issue could not be diagnosed over the phone. My boyfriend arrived about 20 minutes early, and was seen almost immediately. My boyfriend then went on a quick cruise with Rob around the block and the noise was pretty much replicating itself, although not as loud as we thought it would get. Nonetheless, our car was on the lift and was promptly worked on. Rob was very gentle with our wheels, which is always a plus since it shows that he cares. We always have experiences with mechanics where they throw hundreds, if not thousands of dollars worth of parts all over the place. Rob went the extra mile to make sure my boyfriend was completely satisfied and worry free. After he took the wheels off to get to the coilovers, he noticed what the problem was almost immediately. Turns out our suspension was loose! Huh, go figure. As my boyfriend described it, "Rob painstakenly tightened everything by hand, making sure the nuts were to factory torque settings." I had no idea what that meant, but it must be good right? A few bolts holding in the control arms were loose, so Rob went through and tightened everything up. Not only did he work on the suspension issue, he also helped with some body work! He guided my boyfriend throughout the whole process, letting him see what was being done to the car. Most mechanics just have you wait in the waiting room and wait for the "magic" to happen. I'm not saying you should be in the bay watching these guys work, but I guess my boyfriend had a special exception based on his previous experiences. Rob was extremely helpful and completely down to earth. My boyfriend enjoyed his time there, and our car was in safe and capable hands. Finding his shop was a little tricky however. Took my boyfriend 3 tries before he found it. It's in front of Safelite glasses. The only drawback is that this shop is too far from us! However, we believe Rob just earned himself some loyal customers. Thanks for fixing the clunking noise and getting our baby back on the road! Highly recommended! read more
