Hmm, location is good, close to wineries, in between Los Olivos, Solvang and Lompoc, right off the 101 in Buellton. Functional, simple, almost clean room (I love the fake wood floors that are easy to clean rather than the dirty carpet you see in every motel). Free ice from the machine and free coffee in the morning. They also have a pool, but I would ask my doctor if it's a good idea to get in that water. Safe and quiet with the window closed. Very expensive because of the location, especially on weekends and worse on holidays.(it was our last choice and I liked that we didn't have to drive too much around, but I'm ashamed to say how much we paid!) read more

Spartan & Expensive $$$. Sandpaper toilet paper, mattress only on uncomfortable board no boxspring, one thin blanket, no Kleenex, road noise, basic tv with not enough working channels. $185. + taxes for two adults which is the same price for some of the nicer places in Solvang. I gave Motel 6 only two star because it's clean & the shower emits immediate hot water, two redeeming factors. This is what happens when you're trying to be spontaneous on a trip & you haven't made reservations at a much nicer place in Solvang. Live & learn. read more

This Motel 6 is a really great place to stay. As I walked up to my room, a group of college kids drank some beer and laughed by the pool. When I opened the door to my room, I was quite impressed when I entered room 221. It's obviously been remodeled recently. The walls are painted with a vibrant orange theme, and there's a little work area with a comfy couch that's quite nice to write emails at. There's even a data hub beneath the flat-screen television set up. It's got many various ports for you to plug your various external devices into. As cable still sucks, next time I'll remember to bring my Chromecast and stream Netflix. The air conditioning unit cranks out enough cold air to make even the warmest of people get up in the middle of the night to shut it off. Brrrrr! The place is located less than a half mile from the famed Anderson's, the home of Split Pea Soup. I didn't realize I could walk over there when I drove out for dinner after resting a bit. There's actually a bunch of restaurants just down the street. Several options well within walking distance. While it's more costly than some of the other Motel 6 stays I've had, my total bill came up to a quite reasonable $117.01. I feel it's still less expensive than the other places around here. Especially with the Mac & Cheese festival going on this weekend. So, in conclusion, the bed was comfy, the room was clean, and I'll most definitely be coming back. Until I get a big fat raise, or hit the jackpot in the lottery, Motel 6 will always be my room of choice on my adventures because it really does fit within my budget. read more

My first impression of this place, clean. You drive up and the place looks nice and clean. George in the front lobby is nice and friendly, made you feel welcome and explained the grounds (pool location, pet area, parking). The room was nothing like the pictures on the web/yelp/hotels.com, those were outdated, the room my wife I got was updated. Freshly painted walls, wood laminate floors, flat screen TV and cold air conditioning. For the price you can't go wrong, this place is literally 10 minutes from Solvang. The room was small, but more than enough to accommodate my wife and I and our two small dogs. My wife and I didn't experience any of the issues others wrote about. I would recommend this to anyone traveling with their pets. read more

the gentleman at the front desk was very nice. the room was a tad small, but very clean! no blow dryer or iron/ironing board. other than that, our stay was very pleasant. its buellton. the majority of the people staying at the motel were old people and families. so you don't have to worry much about noisy neighbors. unless they have scream children they can't control. read more

The hubby and I decided to get away for the weekend and bring the doggo along so we chose this hotel as they are always pet friendly. Wow ! Nicest Motel 6 we have ever stayed in! Even before Covid ive always been a clean freak germaphobe so I always bring my wipes with me and literally even the floors were spotless. Ray at the front desk was definitely informative and I would stay here again and again! Hats off to the GM Lester. Place was nice and clean it seemed to have been remodeled not to long ago. We stayed here for a night and it was alright but it was a bit pricey about $100+ when most are about $70ish it could have been the location since it was so close to Solvang I'm not sure. Arrived here late at night for a one night stay. Yes, the front desk staff was very helpful and nice but the room was terrible. I'm no fancy hotel needing girl, but this placed reeked of smoke, was super tiny and did not seem clean. The price was waaay more than it should have been. I hated walking on the carpet and every surface was questionable. Our toddler started crying when we walked in the door about "going home!". Once we all settled in, I couldn't sleep because of the sound of every. Single. Vehicle. On the dang freeway outside our door. Stopped in , plenty of space available. parking close and has a pool and is safe. We stayed up stairs and slept like bears. nice clean pool and on sight employees that are friendly and so helpful. I would stay here again and recommend them to anyone who is heading to Solvang. much cheaper to stay here than in Solvang too. close to eateries; taco bell, carls junior, Andersen resturant. Definitely a great place for a discount trip to the Santa Ynez area. 5 minutes from Solvang and 15 minutes from Los Olivos (off the 101), you are close to it all. We paid 65/night for a bed, a clean shower/bathtub, and a TV. If you want perks, don't sleep here. But it was clean, close to the freeway (yet pleasantly quiet), and checkout time isn't until noon. And hey, you save a few dollars to spend on a nice bottle of wine or two. read more

horrible front desk service!!!! the girls at front desk rude and unprofessional. the floor in the room was dirty they obviously don't sweep or mop the floors! towels are super small and thin (time to invest in some new ones) not enough parking overnight. i came back at 11:00pm and no parking there should at least be given one space per room so you have a spot to park. stain on the sheets and no blankets at all. i brought my own thank goodness. also, the beds are very uncomfortable and when i checked the mattress looked very old and lots of stains! read more

If you're looking for a place just to crash, this is a decent option. There are no frills, no ambiance - just a bed and a bathroom. It was clean and relatively comfortable but the parking lot got kind of loud at night. I'd suggest bringing earplugs and asking for a room farthest away from the street. The location is just off the 101 and it's very close to downtown Solvang. Plus the Hitching Post is just a stone's throw away. You're also close to some of the best wineries - a big plus. read more

for the most part... it is a place to rest after a long drive.... cheap clean and no surprises.... the only issue I had was when I checked in...the folks ahead of me we offered offered all the "perks" of a Motel 6...when I asked for my room, I received the general treatment...when I asked for wi-fi access i was berated for not letting him know ahead of time and now he had to change everything........ i apologized since I advised him since he offered all the services to the family ahead of me and thought he would do the same for me. Kudos to Lester, the general manager! I called the day before our arrival and asked if we could possibly get an early check in. We were driving from L.A. to attend a 4 pm wedding the next day and wanted to get into our room early so we could get freshened up and changed to get to the wedding on time. Lester said he would see what he could do. He called me on my cell at 10 am the next day and said our room was ready. We were on the road and were so pleased that when we got to Buellton at noon that we had a room. We had time to have a pleasant lunch, recharge, refresh, and take our time to get ready. Good location just down the road from Solvang. It is basic but nicely done for small rooms. It was a little pricey for the room size, but we are in California. Clean room, Comfy bed, clean parking lot, clean grounds. We were near the pool and it was fairly quiet. My only issue is that (with a reservation) our room was not ready for us until after 6 p.m. I would definitely stay here again. What a pleasant surprise. Last minute reservations for the Tour De California time trial stage in Solvang. Room clean, very clean. Bed firm, sheets fresh, pillows ok. Bathroom purely functional. (As earlier Yelper pointed out; bar of soap but no shampoo, etc. so bring your own.) Check in and check out painless. Considering it was sold out, did not really seem busy, parking lot not an issue, easy in and out. Pool looked nice, but wife said water cold. PETS! They allow pets, with no fee!!! We brought our old dog and got a ground floor room. Perfect. Didn't try the $2.99 WiFi. Only negative was carpet; a bit old and icky. All and all, a good deal, at 1/2 the price of the Marriott next door. (Oh, you do hear a bit of traffic as the 101 freeway faces one side of the rooms and the other side provides access to the freeway. read more

I can't sleep! Near a freeway. When we arrived there were cops searching someone's van at the parking lot next to the motel. Our "non-smoking" room smells like smoke and my sinus' is acting up. Something is making me feel all stuffed up. Not sure if it is the air, the smoke or the material on this bed. The bed is a platform bed. Not very comfortable. I didn't really expect much for a Motel 6 and this was a spontaneous trip. The good: The decor has improved. It has wooden floors in the room but no blow dryer boo. The motel had a lot of big truckers parked out front so we were afraid of the extra noise in the morning as they leave but did not hear a sound! The rooms were very clean, especially the bathroom. Motel6 quality at Best Western prices. Stayed here for the Solvang Prelude for which they doubled their prices. Rooms are small and typical motel6 rooms. TV channels are limited and half the buttons on the remote don't work. Bed cover has mold on it. Someone is throwing a party in one of the rooms. Terrible noise from the 101 freeway. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. read more

There were several good things about this motel that I wish had been my full experience ... I knew it was simple and basic, I wasn't expecting a lot and was pleasantly surprised... the new remodel is very functional and clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff were very nice; I had everything I needed except TIME TO SLEEP. This is not a place to get any sleep so don't plan on that being part of your stay and you'll enjoy it. Great for drinkers, talkers and TV watchers. The walls both internal and external are paper thin... between the parties and loud TV watchers up till 3am and the 6am loud impassioned very personal conversation I could hear every word of in the room next to mine I could only get a few hours sleep. I left exhausted and defeated and $250 poorer. Very bummed at the shitty motel design / construction. read more

We were desperate for a room due to a wine festival we went to that weekend so that is why we stayed there. The price I paid for one night was horrible and not worth 125. With that being said. When I went to check in the lady informed me I didn't have a reservation. I had done it through Hotel.com. I had to pull up my email and inform her I have a confirmation. She was nice enough to find us a room ASAP. So as we get up there the cleaning crew was there and told us the room wasn't ready The front desk lady had informed us it was. My husband had to use the restroom and she said the plumber was coming to fix it.I didn't have time to go downstairs so I just told them I would be back in a few hours. We left to enjoy our wine tasting festival and returned to our room in the evening and to our dismay when we went to use the restroom they had never cleaned it and there was still something very nasty in there. I called up the clerk and was clearly upset all he said is the cleaning crew was gone and he would let the manager know in the morning. To flush it and see if it would go down. The smell was horrible and if we could have left that night we would have but were stuck there till the morning. Never ever will I stay at a Motel 6!! I would have preferred sleeping in our car. I had even YELP their reviews before booking it and thought well not too bad and I can't be picky.. Umm YES for 125 you at least expect it to be clean!! read more
