This is a smaller mom-and-pop type of motel. It's quiet. It's clean. Very clean. It's near places without being in the middle of everything. The owners are friendly and have two adorable kitties. And the price is good. We stayed here for a night in July 2023--dealing with family issues in the area. As we had another trip to the area, we happily opted to stay here again. This will be our 1st choice whenever we come to watch a Dodger game or just hang in the area! The front office with Karen & Alex is like a well oiled machine and they are both so kind! Check in took maybe 10 minutes & that included us asking questions and 1 minute to check out! The room was perfect! Clean, updated, walk in shower, 2 person table, huge TV, super comfortable bed and again CLEAN! We've never stayed anywhere so clean & comfortable and this trip included 2 different Hyatts as well. The shower was huge and super updated- pebble flooring, not slick, super pressure waterfall shower head, obviously I love my shower time! This is my new go-to hotel for work trips. I felt very safe and comfortable here and the staff is incredibly kind and personable. The rooms are very clean, the beds are comfy, and the tvs are updated so you can use your favorite streaming services. The bathtub was nice and deep, which I loved. Coming from the Bay Area, you feel doubtful where to stay, but I have been here previously for a one night stay for. Concert with my husband and I was very surprised of clean the whole property is. Everyone there is very friendly and welcoming I arrived very early before my check in time and they gladly checked me in earlier to my room, plus they're smart tv's was a great addition with our kids being able to watch they're favorite videos. Nowadays is hard to find places with good customer service with everything that's going on in our world but Motel Sakura truly are very welcoming when you arrive. If you're looking for a less expensive option than a 5star hotel, look no further. The only difference this place would have with a hotel is lacking a lobby and obviously the exterior structure of the building does look like a motel. Rooms are all newly renovated. The color combination inside the rooms are very nice : white, gray, and black. The rooms are all neat and clean with a minimalistic look. Very nice mirror and lighting. A lot of space as far as drawers and dressers are concerned. The rooms downstairs have modern wooden gray floors with no carpets. There's Netflix and any other app that you'd need on the TVs (smart TVs) Shower condiments are high quality and full size, not mini. There's also a clean laundry room and front desk has tide pods and laundry sheets for a small fee. Alex and his wife are extremely attentive, helpful, and accommodating. read more

I am baffled by any reviews that might have anything negative to say about this motel. I have stayed at this motel for multiple trips in the past six months for a total of almost 20 nights. This is my go-to location whenever I am in the Glendale area. The Motel Sakura is clean, safe, modern, well appointed and managed by two wonderful people. There are so many great features in the spacious rooms including strong free wifi, large roku TVs, mini refrigerator, microwave, luxury vinyl flooring, great air conditioning (including a setting for constant fan which is great for sleeping at night), bright bed linens, modern bathrooms with touch mirrors that enable light adjustment, built in shampoo/soap dispensers in the shower and fantastic water pressure. I have seen the detailed effort that goes into cleaning the rooms and was amazed and pleased to even see them wiping down the walls. As far as property amenities go, the gated parking is a tremendous benefit as well as the available charging station for Teslas and all other electric vehicles. Everything is very well lit at night including the stair wells. There is an elevator which is so welcome when needing to get suitcases to upper floors. There is also a washing machine and dryer available ($1.75-$2.00 for wash, $1.50 for dryer) and a nice seating area in back of the building with a barbecue. There is also a vending machine with tasty snacks and drinks. If you need coffee like I do in the morning just pop into the office and they will happily brew you a cup. Which brings me to the most important plus for this motel: the managers. They are so friendly, thoughtful and hard working. Good customer service is so hard to find these days but not here at this Motel. They genuinely care about making sure you have a good experience and as I said in the beginning of my review: are wonderful people. As far as the location goes there is easy access to freeways, restaurants and shopping in Glendale and Eagle Rock and Ralph's and Target. I am used to staying at four or five star hotels and am so grateful to have found the Motel Sakura. I stayed for two nights at this motel and the front desk people were very accommodating as well as the rest of the staff. Rooms are surprisingly spacious and all look too be recently renovated with up to date features. The rooms have refrigerators, microwaves and hot water kettles. My favorite part was they have satellite DIRECTV & smart tvs for the streaming apps like Netflix/Hulu/Disney+, etc. so I could have the television on in the background while I sat at my desk and did work on my computer. There is also a laundry facility downstairs for guests who are staying for an extended period of time. The staff seems to really pride themselves on thoroughly cleaning the rooms (especially during these times of COVID). Looks like there is plenty of parking in the lot and they even have an electric vehicle charging station and the lot well lit at night. This motel is centered around a lot of the attractions such as Hollywood & Dodger's Stadium which doesn't make the drive very long. Overall it was extremely affordable for a motel price with all the renovations and I would actually recommend this place to others. read more

I can't be more excited to give a review. Upon arrival tonight, yes TONIGHT lol. Check-in was fairly quick. $283 for two nights plus a $100 refundable deposit. I got room 106 which comes with a king bed & fireplace. And let me tell you!!! The pictures on yelp DON'T LIE! Everything is so nice and CLEAN! Very luxurious feel. I love everything! From the fireplace, the soft mattress, the light up mirror to the rainfall shower head! I really feel like I'm at a 5-star hotel. The room also comes with microwave & a mini fridge. Shower is equipped with shampoo, conditioner & body wash. The room is fully upgraded to its best. You will not regret your stay!! read more

For the money you will never find a better motel. The room is one of the cleanest I've ever seen, the beds are super plush, keep in mind if you do not like soft beds you'll hurt, my wife loved it, me not so much but I cannot fault them for that, that is a personal preference. The rooms have a mini fridge and microwave but if you want coffee that is in the lobby. That may be a little inconvenient but it's a Keurig. We stayed two nights to go to the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl. We paid a premium, but they didn't require a 3 day stay and I was pleasantly surprise by the room and hospitality shown at this recently remodeled motel. This location is excellent! Right on Colorado Blvd. it's walking distance to Brand which has a ton of shops and restaurants to enjoy without driving. It is also well located to get on the freeway or just take surface streets to Burbank or Pasadena. The rooms are clean and recently remodeled in a modern style. Large screen TV with direct TV cable which was nice to watch Bowl games between trips out. They had a nice table and chairs! This made it very convenient for breakfast and a nice amenity. Secure parking off street in gated parking lot. The managers were onsite and very friendly, checked in and very helpful with needs. They even gave us a bottle of champagne for NYE! I love this area of LA and this is a great location to easily get around to all over it. read more

When I was attending college on the east coast, I'd sometimes make the long drive home from the midwest, which was tough to do in a single day. I'd get a hotel or motel somewhere in Ohio and it was about $50 a night. You could usually find someplace clean, with a freshly made bed, a tiny table with two chairs, a low-def (color!) tube TV, a touch tone phone that was made quite recently after the advent of touch tone technology, and a toilet with a paper band indicating that it had just been "sanitized." You didn't find hotels on the internet; you found them on the interstate. They had big billboards advertising them for miles, and the rate you got was the same whether you called on the phone or just showed up. People didn't often have cell phones, so truck stops a few miles ahead of hotels would have free phones programmed to dial the hotels so you could book. So imagine my shock when I moved to California in the internet age. Generally, it takes $120 to avoid the "I will be murdered kidnapped propositioned or drugged in this establishment" feeling, most hotels put a flat screen TV in every room no matter how shitty the hotel, and there are drastically different prices if you book online or in person. Given this context, I found Motel Sakura in Glendale to be quite a nostalgic experience. Other than the faux pagoda parking entrance, this motel was straight out of 1990s Ohio. The room had a touch tone telephone! It had a toilet with a band on it showing that it was recently sanitized! It had a low def color TV! It had a table with two chairs! It had several individually wrapped disposable plastic cups for my convenience! And you can't even book it online! Their website is pretty much MySpace vintage. It was all of $68 per night plus $6 tax, and they wouldn't even let me book it on the phone when I called. "Just come by tomorrow, business slow" they said. "But I might not get there till late" I said. "24 hour, we here." And there they were at 11pm on a Sunday night, with not many rooms filled. To be fair, the room smelled a bit like pee mixed with orange blossom room deodorizer. But it was plenty quiet and clean otherwise. I'd definitely recommend it. Much cheaper and better reviewed than the other hotels on this block. (Thanks Yelp and TripAdvisor for the discovery!) Friendly staff too. read more

Very unprofessional. We arrived at this establishment tired and wore out from the long ride from the Bay Area. Prior to arriving we had made reservations for the Memorial Day weekend and everything was a go. We arrived at 6am, I ring the door bell and the owner takes one look at me and yells "GO AWAY! YOU GO AWAY NO VACANCY!" wait what???? 'Ma'am I was wondering if I could pay for the previous night in order to check in earlier?" "NO GO AWAY WE HAVE NO VACANCY!" "But I called and made reservations?" "NO NO YOU GO" Needless to say she basically denied us service.. I guess if you have on sweats and you don't have the right "LOOK" you will probably not be able sleep in her room. After this ordeal went to 8 different motels and they were all full, because of the holiday, so we were FORCED to sleep in some sleazy motel ughhhhhhhhhhhh! read more

I stayed at Motel Sakura for a short weekend trip for my best friends' wedding and visit other friends, so I was only actually at the motel when I returned to wind down and sleep. The cleaning staff who came every morning after I left always made my room look brand new waiting for another customer, it felt relaxing when I'd come back from a long night. They even folded my own towels I brought. Also they replenish their towels if you use them. The room itself was very tidy. No bugs or anything gross. Sheets were clean and the bed was very very comfy. The shower in the bathroom gave me hot water in seconds. Also, the heating of the room itself worked perfectly. The staff at the front desk were friendly and acknowledged me from when I had called them before to ask a question. The area the motel was in was decent. Lots of noise from the cars driving by but that's just LA. Definitely would stay here again. read more

We dropped our daughter off at Occidental in August 2021 and stayed here; we visited her in October and stayed again. Each time the management was incredible: they were prompt, courteous, responsive, and friendly. The rooms are clean, with new appliances and updated furnishings. I had a fantastic experience at this motel. We had the king suite and it was beautiful especially for the price. The bed was perfect because it wasn't too firm or too soft. I prefer soft but I didn't mind because everyone has different preferences. The best part is the staff... when checking out the absolute worst thing happened to us... our car wouldn't start. Great budget motel to stay at when visiting LA. It has some of the lowest rates in the area and is located in pretty good spot which is relatively close to stores, restaurants, Universal, and Hollywood. The room is fairly basic but nice and clean. It looks recently renovated and has a microwave and fridge/freezer combo which was great for us since our stay is 7 days so we got some things from the grocery store which is right next door. The room also has a flat screen TV with DirecTV. Many channels to chose from. Also WiFi was excellent. I always had a full signal. Parking was great as well. There were plenty of spots and they were big compared to some other places we stayed at before nearby. Only con is that there is no storage in the room at all. This is the best motel I've ever stayed in. It's super clean, the room and the motel itself is maintained very well. The room we got had a large tv that connected to streaming services. The motel also feels very secure as there's a gate that closes off at night to keep non-guests away. This very much felt like a hotel. It's also a great spot because it's a couple of blocks away from the grocery store, Starbucks and many food spots. Last but not least, the customer service is excellent. The owner was very kind and when we left, we actually left a wireless charger in the room and didn't know. He ran out to see if we were still out on the curb to give us the charger back. Needed a room for some out of town guests very suddenly. Almost everything in Glendale was already booked. I stumbled across this listing and read some of the other reviews. They mentioned this place is owned by a Japanese couple. Knowing Japanese attention to cleanliness and detail made me feel more at ease about putting my relatives here for the night. I also read that the motel had recently been renovated. I called and spoke with Alex who found a room for them and the interaction with him was friendly and positive.
