There was a lady there that helped. And she was pleasant. Her name was Dani. She listened to me complain the whole time and didn't roll her eyes or anything. So that's good. She was helpful and kept busy. And the girlfriend was really looking at the clearance rack and Dani would be like hey I'm putting these pants out on clearance now. And in my head I was thinking that she was just grabbing random pants off the rack or they were other pants that customers were wearing so she put a clearance tag on it just to appease us. I simply cannot brag on her enough, she went above and beyond to help me feel comfortable in everything I was trying on & helping me find the correct sizes!! A few places help keep this monument to a bad economy afloat and one of those beacons in the gloom of this Mall is Casual Male. It is a clothing shop for the rest of us, the ones who need their own zip code, the ones who turn sideways to get through turnstiles but it doesn't help, the ones who can't fit in coach seats but pretend we do. In my case I was facing the fat guys worst nightmare, being on television. Thankfully it is local cable access so hardly anyone will be watching but still, as a candidate for public office you have to look your best. They say television adds ten pounds but luckily for us fat guys what's another ten pounds, honestly. In we walked, the Wife and I, and we met Dawn, a fat guys best friend. Dawn is the single most knowledgeable person I have ever met about dressing the pear shaped. She was amazing and worked so hard to do the near impossible. Make me look mature and respectable. It took a while to nail down the outfit and we felt bad about taking up so much for her time but she kept telling us we didn't need to apologize and that she was enjoying doing her job. I want Dawn cloned and installed in every retail outlet in America. Casual Male isn't just all about service, they really do have wonderful clothes. Hip & cool stuff, athletic stuff, from dressy to, well, casual, as the name says. They even have Beatles shirts in my size! I thought for years that Paul and Ringo just didn't like big men, now I know it's just American retailers. Cologne? They have it. Watches? They have some nice ones of those too. Belts, shoes, socks, suspenders and swim wear too. Heaven. Morbidly obese heaven.

After she measured my mom, looking disgusted the whole time, she brought us 5 bras that didn't match the measurements she had just taken. She then proceeded to walk in on my mom as she was changing once she finally got a room to change in - no knock on the door, no "are you ready", nothing, just opened the fitting room. My mom has recently lost a good deal of weight and was hoping to get spend a good deal of money on new bras and we walked out with nothing and we won't be back. My mother is elderly and I have a difficult time breathing without proper air ventilation so I got sick within minutes. All customers that walked in from the mall to JcPenney immediately felt the drastic change in temperature. I am giving them grace and hope it was a mechanical mishap and not intentional. I probably wore the pants 4 times and when I took them out of the wash, noticed the back seam was disintegrating and about to fall apart! I knew I'd had them awhile, (4 months) but decided to take them back to the store. Even if they wouldn't take them back, I wanted them to see the poor quality. They easily found my receipt with my phone number. The short story of it is that the manager took them back and gave me a store credit, which she said I HAD to use right then, today only. Ok. However, she seemed to find it necessary to admonish me and acted like I had done something wrong. Her words were "Technically, we should not be returning these" because it was past their 30-day return policy. She also decided to tell me she had the same pants and hers were in great shape atter 3 years. So- is she saying I damaged them or it's my fault? Is she saying I don't know how to properly launder my clothes? The tag said cold wash, tumble dry low, but I hung them to dry because I do that a lot anyway. I have many items from Athleta that are 5 or even 10 years old and still look great. I've spent money in this store for years and have rarely had to return anything. This manager was rude and should have said either that she couldn't honor the return, or be gracious about it. I don't need your lectures or you talking down to me.

I received my first unwanted catalog on June 10th and immediately emailed Marine Layer to request removal from all marketing lists. The company responded the following day, stating: "No prob. You can unsubscribe from our catalogs here. It can take 8-12 weeks to stop getting catalogs, but have no fear, once we have your information, we will place your address on our 'do not mail' list." I followed the instructions provided and reasonably assumed the matter was resolved. However, on September 27th, fifteen weeks after completing their form, I received another unsolicited catalog. I contacted Marine Layer again to report that I had already completed the unsubscribe process, yet continued to receive marketing materials. On September 29th, the company replied with the exact same message quoted above, offering no acknowledgment of my prior correspondence. Later that same day, I replied and asked whether their response meant an additional 8-12 weeks would be required for removal. The company did not reply. I sent follow-up emails on October 1st, October 4th, and October 7th, each reiterating my request and eventually making a formal demand that all promotional materials cease. None of these communications were answered. On November 2nd, I received yet another unsolicited catalog. At this stage, I consider the company's conduct to be neglectful and bordering on harassment. Marine Layer has lost at least one customer--me.
