From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming and hyped us up for the challenge. The room itself was cleverly designed, with puzzles that made us think, work together, and argue (lovingly) about whose fault it was when we got stuck. The clues were challenging but fair, and the props and environment made us feel like we were in an actual prison trying to break out. We loved the variety of puzzles, and the staff gave just enough hints to keep us moving without spoiling the fun. We didn't escape in time, but we had so many laughs along the way that it didn't even matter. Everyone from the adults to the kids had a role in solving something, and it was awesome to see everyone working together. If you're looking for a fun, interactive, and memorable way to spend time with family or friends, book the Prison Break room at Escape Modesto. We'll definitely be back to try another room soon, this place is a gem!

I got a groupon for Christmas and went with three of my friends - you book ahead of time online, and we got to do it with just our group and no strangers. The group before us was running a little late, so Brenda actually called me to let me know ahead of time so we could come in a bit later (which I really appreciated). The classroom theme of the room was fantastic. My friends and I are grad students and we found it challenging, but totally doable. It was pretty exhilarating and you definitely have to think outside of the box. You're allowed to ask her for help if your group gets stuck (she gives you 5 clues max). We solved it with a minute 30 to spare, and it was literally the greatest feeling in the world. Definitely worth the money for a group of 4-7 of your friends. Can't wait for her to make more!

I had my reservations about this place, having seen it while shopping at the Galleria on numerous…read moreoccasions. It seems like part of this recent trend of what I consider "corporate escape rooms." From the storefront, it looks like the rooms have pretty high production value. However, I've come to realize that more money dumped into visuals doesn't always mean more difficulty, creativity, or just overall fun. Nonetheless, I was quite surprised by the room my group decided to tackle, called The Heist. In an effort not to spoil the puzzles for anyone reading this review, the main things I want to point out are (1) the puzzles felt really organic and there were times where I felt like was really part of a heist, (2) there were several puzzles that really rode on the edge of what I would consider natural limitations, and (3) all of the puzzles worked the way they were supposed to, and some a bit overly precise. I'll always appreciate precision, regardless of how much it pisses me off in a room, though. My group and I have already booked our next challenge here, and are excited to see what else they have to offer. Highly recommend getting a large enough group together to fill all the spots, since they do allow other people to fill in to reach capacity, unless you're into meeting new people like that. To each their own!

We played with two adults and two kids. I think we asked for help/clues 7-10 and escaped with 3 mins to spare. I would probably say 3-4 adults would've been sufficient for this game. Will absolutely be back for another visit. The price is $43 a person. Kids 5 and up were the same price as adults. 4 and under are free. It's on the pricier end, but they will price match with Groupon! Book ahead would be recommended.
