This is probably my fault. Had I realized I was ordering from a House of Pizza, I wouldn't have tried it. I am not a Greek pizza fan. It is kind of what you expect with Greek pizza, no part of it was that great, starting with the crust, the cheese didn't really have any flavor either, unlike places that usually use fresh mozzarella on a margherita pizza. Years ago, I was told to try this place by a former coworker, and I just never made it to it until today! My mom and I stopped in for a snack because we drove by it. We got a small cheese pizza to split. When we arrived in the two men at the counter were super friendly. They greeted us right away and we sat inside to eat. There were a few customers already inside eating too and they seemed to know the guys who worked there well. We tried the pizza, and it was excellent! I love Greek style pizza and this was it. Firm, no flop, cheesy and crunchy crust. The men were pleased to hear it was our first time and we loved it. A customer chimed in about how he has been going there for over 20 years and another customer talked about how she is a regular. You do not see places like that anymore! There are many casual pizza places in melrose, but mother's pizza by far is the best. It's something about the crust that makes me keep coming back. They're not on any delivery apps yet, but you can order online or call ahead. The service is quick, they are family run. I've tried their cheese, buffalo chicken, garlic bread and Margherita. Amazing pizza and sub sandwiches are fantastic! We got a large special pizza and a small 3 topping pizza. The crust was light with medium consistency, the tomato base was just right with a great flavor and the toppings were fresh. The next night we ordered subs, a meatball sub and Italian sub. Stopped by for a quick bite the other day with my mother and grandmother. We ordered a small cheese and an order of fries to eat there. It was nice and the wait wasn't too long. The price was really amazing. We got the food plus 3 drinks for less than 18 dollars!! The food was really delicious. Thought I would try this Pizza House down the street from me. Was well rated. Ordered online. Their system required me to confirm my cell number with a code the verify my number was real! I was impressed until sent me the same code "6 times"! I ordered at 5:46PM and it said it would be ready at approx 6:08PM. Walked down the street and appeared at 6:08 PM. I give then pizza maker my name for an order as the "older gentleman" (I can say that- I'm old) at the counter is on the phone, along with several order sheets with cash piled on top of each order in front of him. I can only assume the older fellow is overwhelmed with orders and has yet to place the cash into the register. The pizza maker sees no order ready and opens the oven to check to see if something cooking? The older fella is asked if there is an order- he looks at the printer in front of him and peels off my order. I ask if they have to make it yet and am told "Yes". I tell them to cancel the order and walk out. Pizza might be good, but looking around at the place, I did not feel it was really the kind of place I really trusted and sure would not try to use their online system again- since they don't! Have been a regular customer for 4 years but they let me down on the night of the AFC championship. I called in at 6.45 and asked how much was the wait time and they said none. I asked if they could have my pizza ready by 7.30 and not any time earlier and they said its fine. The staff is absolutely amazing, always friendly. My go-tos are always the pizza of course.. which is a light buttery airy crust with sauce and cheese. But my go-to is usually a steak and cheese sub with hots and pickles (sounds weird, but if you like pickles you will LOVE it). The pizza is Greek style with a thicker crust, sweet sauce, and creamy cheese. The subs are huge and made with all fresh ingredients. Burgers are less than $3. It's an affordable and satisfying meal. How can you beat a family owned business that makes you feel so at home when you walk through the door. These guys are awesome. Best sub/pizza shop around. They don't deliver but they don't need to. Their service and food is above and beyond the best. I've been going here for 25 yrs and never 1 issue. The only issue is their tables if you want to eat there aren't set up for big people. That's why I always take to go home. read more

Mother's Pizza is a good go-to pizza and sub place in the Highlands. They have off-street parking which is a huge plus and very rare for take-out places in Melrose. The prices are dynamite (a hamburger is $2.52!) We always get the small pepperoini pizza, fries, and the BLT sub. The pizza and fries are good and there is something really great about the BLT sub... I think its the bread. The guys working there are friendly and nice. Just a great all around neighborhood pizza and sub shop. read more

If you're looking for a good Greek-style pizza, this is THE place to go. The guys that work there are great- friendly and know what they're doing. Pizza takes on average 10-15 minutes. Never had to wait more than 20 minutes for one. Its a very small place, mostly for take-out, though there are a few booths to sit at (not very comfortable though, they're that 70's style formica-ish things, if you know what I'm talking about.) Food is typical pizza-parlor stuff, nothing too fancy, pizza, subs, sandwiches, a few dinner plates of spaghetti and meatballs. Very good prices, all in all, definitely a good bet for a quick quality bite to eat. TIP: gets busy during the school year right after school gets out during the week- popular hangout for the high school/middle school kids. read more
