The guys arrived to my house a little early for our appointment time. They were polite and responded well to instruction. They also wrapped up items that needed to be with moving blankets or plastic. A planter pot was the only casualty in the move. The only complaint I have is that they didn't have a cart, which surprised me as well as the building manager (who undoubtedly encounters moving companies routinely); she loaned us the building's cart to help the move go more efficiently. read more

I had never used a moving company before today, but after my experience with Danny and his protege Silas, I won't move without Motivated Movers, and I am moving again next month! Pertinent facts before sharing my personal story: 1. Danny is a real-life Tetris master. Phenomenal spacial awareness 2. Danny can fix a lot of things. He looked up and fixed the plastic panel over the lights in the elevator at my storage unit. Who looks up in an elevator? Answer: a real-life Tetris master 3. Silas can carry things that I would need to devise a pulley system for, except he did it single handedly. Personal Story: In the past, I have been moving place to place by myself (plus the help of man friends with trucks), but I seemed to have acquired some seriously heavy furniture since living in Seattle, and I was desperate to get the pieces into a storage unit ASAP. I tried getting estimates online for some places and it was such a hassle. They can't provide the level of service I wasn't even sure existed in moving companies. It was like Go Big Or Stay There, plus you always have to end up calling and you get voicemail (Thanks for the poor recommendations, Google). Even though I was fed up with the price points and scheduling issues with Google top hits, Google Maps did do me a solid by recognizing Motivated Movers and providing contact information. These guys answered the phone right away. They got my name, the address where all the heavy furniture was and where it was going (I actually just gave them the name of the storage unit facility and they were on it). They were able to accommodate me within the next two days. Danny and Silas were super friendly and excited to get to work. They were very careful with the furniture, and patient with me, especially as I tried to participate with a moving cart I couldn't quite control. They come fully prepared and are fast and efficient. We moved over the Summer during the High Season. 2 people, 3 bedroom house with huge book collection, lots of art supplies and I did all the packing. I've moved myself 15 times over the last 20+ years and I finally have no more friends to ask to help me. But I do know how to pack and label boxes. The odds were definitely stacked in my favor. It took the crew of 4 guys a little under 7 hours to move us 15 minutes away. WORTH MENTIONING: Make sure all tree limbs and branches are trimmed for these guys to park their trucks. I did not but that's on me. Have parking available at your old and new place. Put out signs, talk to your neighbors. We were fine on both accounts. Label your boxes and have a big corresponding map and label rooms/doors accordingly. They seemed to appreciate this. I moved all my own pictures and frame art just to speed up the process and lower the liability. Nothing was broken and other than minor scuffs it's hard to know where they came from or if they've all been their. Definitely the most affordable and affable crew I had a chance to interview and work with. It's how I'd run a moving company if I ever gave up my career. read more

Granted, it was a rough move because the house we were moving to was still being remodeled- as in still being painted on moving day- but still I felt like they were just "meh" as movers go. I grow ever more peeved as I uncover boxes labeled "attic" stuffed into various other rooms. Yeah, the attic was hot-- which is why I paid and generously tipped YOU to allegedly put them up there. Also, my son's desk got totally scratched and mangled. It was only $179 from IKEA but still, that's $179 I have to go spend half a day paying because they were careless. I'm a real estate professional with an endless supply of customers for them- another broker had recommended them to me. I had Danny and his crew move me last month, and I cannot recommend Motivated Movers enough. They moved me and my 1 bedroom apartment from the Eastside to Queen Anne in about 3.5 hours.... on one of the hottest days of the entire summer (95 degrees!). They were on time, and worked non-stop; these guys hustle. They even had to hoist my couch over the balcony since it wouldn't fit through the doorway. The price was more than fair, and if I ever have to move again- I'm calling these guys, no question. Even my dad who was helping me on Moving Day mentioned that if he has to move his office- he's calling Motivated Movers because he was so impressed. Daniel was fantastic. I lived in a 3 1/2 story walk up in upper Belltown. No elevator. Dan was a total Energizer bunny, zipping up and down the stairs with my stuff. He brought his own dolly and was able to get all the stuff in my apt loaded into the UHaul in about an hour. He then carefully tied the stuff so it wouldn't go flying around in the truck. He saved my back, my nerves and saved me from a nervous breakdown. I'd hire him again in a sec and recommend him highly to anyone in Seattle who needs a mover. :) read more

Nice guys who worked hard, but there were a few problems. I knew I had a lot of stuff, but the owner blew off my attempts to get him to come look things over ahead of time because it was a studio apartment, or maybe he was just busy. Anyway, it took twice as long and cost more than twice as much as he quoted. To be fair, some of that extra time was unwanted furniture removal with a run to Goodwill that I requested, but it still took nine hours to move from Capitol Hill to Montlake. He had also said there would be 3-4 wardrobes for packing. There were only two, and I had to stuff clothes from the closet into another box myself. At the unload, I had to ask them to put down the rug protector and one of them argued with me about where to put stuff. They were just exhausted, and should have had more help from the start. Later, I found two boxes of fragile stuff with heavy boxes piled on top. Thanks to my friend's excellent packing, nothing was broken, but that was a miracle. Bottom line: hard workers, not very good communication, and some carelessness. They got the job done, but it was a rough day for us all. read more

We hired Motivated Movers over the phone. We moved from Chicago to Ballard with a 14' UHaul. They brought furniture dollies & wardrobe boxes (used to pile in lots of our smaller boxes). They were able to come earlier & Danny called early that morning to let us know. They moved everything in without a single issue to our stuff or the apt, building, or truck. I have never written a Yelp review before, so this is a first. Motivated Movers has some incredible reviews, and when I called last weekend to book, they were super friendly and easy. The day before I move, I text to confirm. When I don't hear back after 5 hours, I start looking for another mover because, well, I'm moving and can't risk a no-show. 6 hours after my initial text to confirm, I get an outrageous call from Dan, the owner, YELLING at me telling me that I am "crazy" and that since I booked, what he said, 2 days ago (was actually 6 days prior), and freaked out because he didn't respond to a text in 2 hours (actually was 6), he was done and didn't even want to move me. When I asked if he was still available, he responded "I don't want to move you, find someone else", and HUNG UP ON ME. I'm sure they are great, and maybe this was a bad day, but the way he treated me when I could barely get a word in, was incredibly unacceptable, and if he worked for me, would be fired on the spot. So, Dan, I hope you treat your future customers better, because you've definitely put a disgusting taste in my mouth, which I most certainly will be "word of mouth"-ing across Seattle. read more

Do not trust this business. The owner of Motivated Movers Dan Puetz will not return my call or texts. Instead of telling us at the time of a move that we hired them for a year ago that a valuable chair was damaged, Dan's crew actually used tape to hold the broken furniture together and then hid it under other items in our storage unit so we wouldn't notice. Not cool at all! Dishonest! Accidents happen but this was a calculated decision to hide something from a customer. Still am stunned that our beautiful set of chairs is now worthless. We specifically asked his crew to treat this chair and the other chairs in this set of with kid gloves. We have had this furniture since 1991 and it is irreplaceable. Description Of Work: Motivated Movers Packed and moved our entire 6 bedroom, 4500 sqft, 4 level home, with a super steep driveway from south Seattle to Redmond. ****** Motivated Movers with Danny in the lead, made our move smooth and easy. They were wonderful, fantastic, increadable, i woud recommend them to my mother! I was worried about our move out because our driveway was so steep other companies didn't want the job, but Danny figured out that two trucks, with a smaller truck to shuttle stuff down to a bigger truck then refill the smaller truck, was the way to go. I hired them to not only move us, but to pack us up to. The cost was surprisingly reasonable and definitly worth it! They packed us up on a tuesday, on wednesday they started moving stuff into the trucks with just a bit more packing, then on to the new house. On thursday we finished up clearing out the old house and had everything in the new house at a reasonable time. It took three days, but it was realaxed for everyone, with no overtime. The estimate was right on target, and a good 25% less than their competitor. Everyone was super curtious and sweet. They took wonderful care of my stuff, labeled all the boxes and got everything to the right room. They even helped me to arange and rearange the furniture a few times. There were NO wall dings, broken pieces or oopses. All in all, they were wonderful fabulouse, fantastic. I woud recommend them to everyone!!! read more
