However, after reflecting on the entire planning process, I feel future couples deserve transparency before making such a large investment. To start with the positives: the venue itself created a beautiful atmosphere for our wedding, Critic's Choice Catering was loved by our guests, and several setup details, including the welcome table and cake tables, were set up as planned. Many guests complimented the food throughout the evening. Unfortunately, the planning process behind the scenes was extremely stressful and, at times, disappointing due to repeated communication issues, inconsistencies, and preventable mistakes. From the beginning, Kaycie (the founder and coordinator) sold us on the venue by emphasizing that it was "all-inclusive" and offered things other venues did not. During our initial meetings, I specifically asked for an overall quote that included a dinner package so we could determine whether the venue fit within our budget. I trusted her expertise and guidance when she provided us with pricing, and because it fell within our budget, we decided to move forward. Several months later, we discovered that we had actually been quoted for an appetizer package rather than a dinner package. Kaycie stated that we had mentioned possibly bringing in our own catering company, but that was simply a question we asked while exploring options. It was never confirmed that we would be using outside catering. The difference in pricing was substantial, and we felt misled. When we raised our concerns, we were told that we should have noticed the pricing difference and asked more questions before submitting our deposit. As first-time wedding planners, we relied on the expertise we were paying for and expected accurate information from the start. Another concern involved what was actually included with the venue. During our tour, Kaycie proudly showed us a large book of linen options and explained that they offered far more choices than other venues we had visited. Later, we learned that glassware, china, silverware, tables, chairs, linens, and other essentials were not included as we had believed. As people who had never planned a wedding before, we did not know these items would need to be rented separately. We often felt like information presented in person did not align with information later provided through email. For larger weddings, I would strongly encourage couples to get every detail in writing and verify exactly what is and is not included. At one point, we were told, "We have no control over how you read and interpret our literature." As clients relying on the venue's expertise and documentation, that response felt dismissive rather than helpful. One of the biggest disappointments was the seating chart. Kaycie sent me another bride's seating chart as a template and instructed me to follow that format. I did exactly that and even asked her to review it beforehand to make sure everything looked correct. She confirmed it was fine. On the wedding day, however, families were split apart, couples were separated, parents were seated at different tables, and children were not seated with their families. We later learned that she had told some of our guests she could not fully read the chart. Had that concern been communicated beforehand, I would have gladly clarified it or come in myself to ensure it was set up correctly. Instead, one of the most important organizational pieces of the reception was mishandled despite us paying for coordination services and setup assistance. There was also a serious issue involving one of the bartenders, who we later learned was terminated. Multiple guests informed us that he refused to serve drinks unless they tipped him, despite the fact that we paid for bartending services and supplied all of the alcohol ourselves. Guests reported feeling pressured to tip, and one guest was even told, "I have rent to pay," before being asked to send money directly to him. Another guest was left in tears after an uncomfortable interaction. We were also told he attempted to charge for premium tequila shots using tequila that we had personally provided. Several guests commented that drinks were inconsistent and tasted different throughout the evening. I do want to recognize Brendon, the operations manager, who was kind, professional, and genuinely apologetic. He listened to our concerns, acknowledged that these issues should not have happened, and took accountability for the areas where they fell short. His response was the first time we truly felt heard during this process. I understand that no wedding is perfect and that unexpected issues can arise. However, communication, accountability, and professionalism are critical when couples are investing significant time, trust, and money into one of the most important days of their lives.

For starters, everyone was so courteous and professional and amazing from venue touring to communications to actual wedding day. No stone was left unturned so everything went perfectly. First, let's talk actual venue space, it's a historic inn that overlooks the beaches and ocean and it's a gorgeous sight to behold. When you enter, you are introduced to a beautiful patio with a fountain and plenty of plant life. The ceremony happens outside while the reception happens indoors with a nice cozy ballroom space and more spacious dining area. For our guest count of 125, we fit comfortably despite being a little crowded. For food, it's arguably the best wedding food you can get. Ask any of our guests! For tray pass options, we went with ahi tuna tacos, mini quiches, crab cakes, and a charcuterie station. We opted for a brunch wedding and people loved the gnocchi station, waffle and protein station, prime rib, and acai/parfait station. I think it's safe to say that our guests hadn't experienced wedding food like La Venta before and they absolutely loved how good the food was! Now, the wedding day. It was absolutely magical with the flowers, the music, the weather, the views, the food. And all of this would not have been possible without the vendors that we had with La Venta. For your reference, we used Blush Events for the coordinator, Noon Flower Shop for flowers, Credo for makeup, Madebymeg catering for food, King's Hawaiian for cake, Vox DJ for emcee/DJ, and Madeforyou for signage. If you want a wedding in PV, La Venta is probably the BEST option without being outrageously expensive. I know we'd do it all over again with them, but hopefully I don't need to get married again!

The night we went there were a couple of friends assisting her in the kitchen and with photography of the evening. The house is large and comfortable as well as tastefully furnished. The table settings matched the theme of the meal. There are other events, besides the chef's tasting menu, including a tea service, which I would definitely like to try. All parties met in the garden and we were promptly served pomegranate citrus,mocktails, as well as lamb or vegetable dumplings as an amuse bouche. The chef explained that the fusion of the food comes from her Latina heritage as well as her husband's Persian heritage. The male also had some Turkish touches. Since the menu is posted for reference, I won't go into a lot of detail. The heart of palm vegetarian ceviche with crispy plantains with a fresh and flavorful start to the meal. I truly enjoyed the chicken El Pastor style tacos, which were served on Middle Eastern bread, along with an onion, herb salad, and toum, the fantastic garlic spread. All flavors went well together and I did not miss the salsa. The salmon truly had a crispy skin and worked wonderfully with their fragrant rice dish. I got quite full before this steak came out and asked to take it home after tasting a few bites. Even after heating it up the following day, it remained extremely tender and did not overcook. The chimichurri sauce was fantastic and the chef left the sauce at the table to add more. I don't particularly have a sweet tooth, but was extremely impressed with the dessert. The Tres leches cake was enhanced with cardamom and rosewater and sprinkled with a pistachio dust. Some of these flavors can taste perfume me, but the chef balanced it so well and had a light touch with the strong flavors. The cake itself definitely stood out. I finished every bite. The mint tea at dessert as well as the pomegranate drink served throughout the meal were extremely refreshing.
