After reading the reviews, I was terrified when the police told me to pick up my vehicle here. I went to pick up my Corvette and there was no damage to the bumpers, rims, or anything else. 5 star reviews on here are mostly fake!!!! This business steals from cars, over charges for impounds, and have the worst customer service I most people will ever deal with. They have contracts with AAA and some county's so they are not concerned with serving customers, it is unfortunate that Motor Body is not grateful to have contracts that give them plenty of business. My father-in-law passed away so we were storing his car at our house while probate was being approved by the courts. Unfortunately the car, Kia, was stolen and SJPD finally notified us. The car was towed by Motor Body to their yard waiting for us to claim it. The charge was $229 for the tow and $125 for the first 4 hours of storage. We were at work and couldn't break away for a few hours so the total was $450 for it being there less than 8 hours. Ironically enough they have an auction once a week for cars they tow that the owners can't afford to retrieve them. Sounds like something that could have the RICO statute applied to it. read more

This is an easy 5 stars. We had just gotten into an accident on 101 and the driver Francisco showed up sooner than expected. He was very informative and conveyed information to us in manner we could easily understand. Sometimes it's hard getting bombarded with info immediately following an accident but he was very helpful. After explaining the process, he was able to get us off the freeway quickly. Francisco towed the truck, dropped it off and was on his way. He provided excellent customer service, enough to make me want to write a review which doesn't happen often. Update: I emailed the owners of this company with my complaints. The owners did reply and acknowledge (partial) fault. They also refunded the storage fee to the payment method. Pricing remains not transparent / not all my questions were answered. I advise anyone dealing with this company as a result of a city-initiated tow to ensure that you are not charged more than the rate specified by the CA Highway Patrol and approved by city council. I recently had my car towed from a business to this location. I never knew this location existed. The people who work here are shady. Please keep in mind what the other reviews say. They will still your personal belongings and act like the cameras on site work and record everything. Not to mention they rip you off for administrative fees. it's also up to the manager if he wants to work with you.Your paperwork is never ready and they just run up charges to pocket your cash money.If you have Allstate, AAA go somewhere else to get your tow. My car was impounded by SJPD because I left it in front of my friend's house after a Tesla driver on autopilot struck it while parked the evening before. It takes a few days to have a car towed from the parking lot where I worked so I was surprised it happened so fast. I live 100 miles away and when I returned to meet the tow truck the insurance company ordered, I discovered my car was gone. It took a few phone calls to track down my car. It was impounded at Motor Body. After reading several reviews, I braced myself for who knows what. Rude people? Items stolen from my car? I was worried. I called and spoke to Melissa, explaining my whole story. She sympathized with my plight and explained the process of what I needed to do to get my car released to my insurance company. Firstly, I needed SJPD to release it from impound. I filled out the release request online. Assistance from my insurance company and SJPD came slowly and required me doing most of the foot work, despite none of this being my fault. Consequently, the car had to stay the weekend, as well. It cost my insurance $970 for your and storage, plus $132 for the release. I can see how that could make someone furious but none of this was Motor Body's fault. Melissa moved everything as quickly as she could on her end. She let me call her to tell her I sent the release and then called me to tell me what I had missed so I could fix it and get it back to her. I had a great experience working with Melissa from Motor Works. She was friendly, knowledgeable, professional and expedient. She was the practically the only person out of all the contacts who really helped me and treated me with empathy and compassion. I never want my car impounded, again, but should that happen, I hope I'll have Melissa on my side at Motor Body. Oh, and my $120 earbuds were where I left them and the uncashed $7500 check that I had planned to deposit that day was still on the visor where I stuck it. read more

We live in a very bad neighborhood, and cars are constantly getting stolen, broken into, damaged, you name it. Homeless cars, RVS, abandoned vehicles. But somehow, our truck got tagged. It had current registration. It's our work truck. But to break into our truck to supposedly "put the truck in neutral", failed to do that along with leaving his break in tools behind. Door wedge, the long break in bar for some low life who will do god only knows what is our already vandalized neighborhood. Ring camera has them breaking in and dragging our 1990 box truck 48 feet without it being put in neutral. Which is why they got into the truck to begin with right. What a joke of a company. Can't train your employees properly to do the job correctly. We followed behind the tow truck driver, who ran two red lights, disregarded the height of the truck, and hit multiple trees. Tried talking to the manager Aldo, who gave us the run around. Called more than 10 times trying to resolve who paying the damages on the rear end after being hanked and dragged. The rear end is now making a humming noise. Flat spotted rear tires. Dragged hitch down to the nut... like yall are the worst tow company to put trust into. Managers apparently don't call people back. How can you seriously say this is quality work you do? Let alone be proud to work for such a shit company. My vehicle was stolen and was dumped somewhere and Police had it towed by Motor Body, a day later when I came back to town, I reported to Police that my vehicle is missing, Police said it's impounded because it was left in the middle of the road. I explained to the Police that I parked my car 2 days ago on the side of the street next to my house. Police said ok, your vehicle was stolen then because it was found some 12 miles away abandoned. So I submitted a stolen car report to Police. Police waived the release fee, but Motor Body doesn't have a heart and still charged the full price of towing and storage to a grand total of $405 for 2 days of storage that I didn't plan in the first place and definitely not my fault that my car was stolen. Now I'm broke with a car that creaks like it's gonna break when you drive it. The thieves have maltreated my car and now it's breaking apart. This feels more like a scam. The thugs steals a car, the Police have it towed, the towing company tows and stores the car = more money for the towing company. When you're driving to work in San Jose and have your tire blown out very near a homeless encampment and miscreants try to yell a bunch of stuff at you about your butt... I don't know how many people this has happened to but it super sucked and AAA and Fernando from Motor Body were my saving grace. SO incredibly thankful to them for being there when I really, really, really needed them. To be clear, I know how to change a tire. I could probably do it with one eye closed but the bolts on my tire just would not come the f*ck off and I wasn't in a stellar part of town and it just overall was not a desirable situation. I need to host and event for 50 people at a nearby venue in and hour from the time of the blow out and after calling AAA and getting a few kinks with my membership worked out, it took less 20 minutes for Fernando my savior of a service man to be at my not-so-easy-to-find location, even though AAA had quoted 45 minutes. I got texts throughout my short wait letting me know an ETA and giving me the GPS location of the truck as well as a call from their office telling me to be on the lookout for the big yellow truck. Fernando was the man... and made me feel less like a wimp when even he couldn't get the bolts of my tire. He def had to pull out some giant-ass tools and pretty much jump on them to get the thing off, but he did it and once that happened it took less than 10 minutes to snag my spare, fill it to the appropriate PSI with air (something I wouldn't even have thought to do) and put it on. And then he complimented me on my strength in lifting the old tire into my trunk. I was so grateful that I demanded Fernando let me hug him before he left. He didn't seem super thrilled about it... maybe because I was covered in dirt and tire scrub from trying to fix it myself, but he did eventually give in. Good man. Great service. Now, I normally don't write reviews..but here we are! My tow truck driver was a very professional and friendly gentleman. You can tell he takes pride in his work. It was chaotic, no fault to him, but he helped put me at ease. I believe his name was Louie. Moment I walked in, I was greeted by a young, Asian woman with a bright and cheerful smile. Hmm, starting to think this company has strong values. So far so good. Not only was she patient but she was able to juggle incoming calls and there was a couple she was helping prior to me walking in. She was the only one behind the counter, so I thought it would take awhile. NOPE! She was such a delight! This company knows how to remain calm under chaotic moments; and truly provides excellent customer service. This truly embodies a great example of how a company should operate when dealing with people at their worst days (no one likes their car being towed; then having to pay an unexpected expense out of no where). A couple months ago my car battery died and ultimately needed replacing, I called my insurance and Rafael was sent out to jump my car. Given my battery was shot, he had a replacement with him already and was able to install the new battery in no time at all. I was having a rough day already when this happened and was also having issues with my payment, but Rafael was reassuring and waited with me until I was able to pay for the battery. Well I was in a bad auto wreck on 101 North Bound after barely exiting the Tully exit. Driver beware, avoid that exit at all costs!!! After finally getting my poor car to the side of the freeway, the CHP called Motor Body to pick up my car with my AAA card. It was a free tow with AAA, however since my accident happened at night, they had to drop my car off at the tow yard. It cost me $55 for over night storage. Yes my insurance did not cover the costs. I felt the staff here were really nice all the tow guys and the lady who worked the counter. I think the first tow guy wanted to give me a hug because I was so sad about my wreck, but he shook my hand instead. This place can be ubber expensive if you don't have roadside assistance. I'm only writing a review to inform other customers of they're rights when it comes to towing companies and storage. Perhaps my experience will help someone else. My car was stolen last month and was towed to this business yesterday. No one was rude to me, quite the opposite very helpful. The one thing that bugged me was recovering some of the items that were in my car. While I was being helped, the front desk woman read to me the police report of items that were in the car. When my fiancé went to grab the car 2 items that were in the police report were not inside the car. When I asked the woman she said that maybe the police took them because "we do not go into the cars." So I asked to look at the report and saw that only 1 item, a laptop, was recovered by the police which meant the other item should still be in the car. So I pointed this out to her, to which she then went to her supervisor. The supervisor said I should call the officer that found my vehicle because again "we do not go into the cars." I said ok well can I see the report again so I can get his badge number. I then ask for their statement in writing to report the missing items because I have every intention of getting both of them back. She goes back to her supervisor and no more than 5 minutes later comes out with the items that weren't recovered by the police. One of the yard managers comes to the front and says he kept them in his office. But wait...I thought you don't go into the cars? I would highly recommend anyone who gets some sort of run around from the towing companies to ask for their statements in writing, you'd be surprised how fast stuff turns up. Friday night at midnight some drunk kid slams into my car and totals it and SJPD calls these bozos to tow my car. When the driver shows up I ask him are you AAA service and says yes, I said then I want my car towed to a shop in San Leandro. He said I can't do that, you'll have to wait for another truck to come in 2 to 4 hours. I told him don't touch my car, I'm going to call AAA right now and sort this out. He walks away and comes back 5 minutes later and says OK I'll tow you to San Leandro.. from here on his s#!t attitude starts.. he yanks my member card out of my hand for his paperwork.. and eventually we're on the road. After evaluating the condition of the car I decided to have the car towed to their yard.. once I told him that he switched personalities again and was mr. nice guy. Next day (Saturday) I had to go to their yard for the paperwork to get my car released. They had only one person working the shop and they would not allow more than one customer into their building at the same time so me and handful of others had to wait outside of the building for our turn.. 45 minutes the door opens and I'm let in for a signature. Then I ask the guy if I can go look at my car and he said no I will get fired!! Really?? what kind of logic is that? I called for a tow, they put me on hold 6 separate times before finally answering my call. They gave me a 1 hour lead time, even though my car broke down a 1/2 block from their tow yard. 2 hours later, no call no show. I called back now 2.5 hours after initial contact and they tell me in these exact words "Sorry, we're too busy. Maybe we can help you tomorrow". Okay..... Needless to say, I was pissed. I usually like to shop local. But after that mess I'd rather pay extra AND call someone else before I'd ever entertain the idea of calling them again. So after eating a nice breakfast at a local restaurant, my car decided to be difficult. My key wouldn't move in the ignition therefore it wouldn't start. I called my insurance company, AAA, and they dispatched someone to come rescue my boyfriend and I. The dispatcher said that someone would come at 12. We were so happy to see Julio coming right on time! I explained everything to him and he even tried fixing it. Props to that! It couldn't be resolved so he just said that we had to tow it. I would give these guys 6 stars if I could, primarily for the excellent service I received this past weekend from Fernando. My car died Saturday morning at a most inopportune moment, when I was at the bank getting cash for us to leave for our trip to Monterey. I had had my car in the shop the week before due to intermittent start-up issues, but they checked the battery and starter and were unable to duplicate the issue. After repeated attempts I admitted defeat and called Triple A. They sent out Fernando, who arrived within 30 minutes and was personable and compassionate about the situation. He was super fast in loading up the Jeep, filling out the paperwork, and BEST OF ALL, when I realized that the dealership wouldn't have anyone there to receive my car he offered to handle the drop-off for me so I could leave on my mini-vacation and not have to meet him there!! WOW, that is what I call Above and Beyond the Call of Duty, and I could have hugged him for his kindness. Additional kudos to him for his patience- the parking lot that I was in is very busy on Saturdays because it's adjacent to a supermarket and there were all of these incredibly lazy and unsafe drivers trying to squeeze by his truck to get to that one little spot in front of the bank...when there were 20+ spots less than ten feet further away!! I have to commend him for his professionalism, I would have gotten frustrated trying to work under those conditions, but he was cool and collected.
