I just found Motor Tech Auto Repair. It's a small, independent auto repair shop and the tech and advisor that I interacted with were friendly and honest. They let me know what needed to be done immediately and what could wait. The prices were reasonable and I didn't feel like I was getting an up-sell. Everything was explained patiently and clearly. I brought my vehicle in for a check engine light - cylinder misfire. They said it was a coil pack and replaced for $600. I drove it home and got another check engine light the same day. Cylinder misfire on the same cylinder. Took the vehicle back and these guys told me the head gasket needs to be replaced for $4000... but that coil pack was bad anyway and we are gonna keep your $600. I won't be going back here and recommend you don't either! read more

Would not recommend this repair shop for any services, they are overpriced and not honest on what they quote you verses what is really wrong with your vehicle. Had previous work done that was shotty to say the least but charged me way too much for such little work that was completed and not done correctly. read more

Took my vehicle to motor Tech multiple times Take it home had a new strange noise they couldn't figure it out 1st they said they couldn't hear it turned out I found out it was the fan clutch which I had to replace they thought it was the transfer case for some strange reason. they took out the transfer case and sent it to some shop who said it had no problems at all. they put it back together. The very 1st time I use it on a snowy morning heading to the airport going about 40 down Bellevue i Turn on 4 wheel drive HIGH 1st time from their shop and It makes a strange noise like a Spring Snaps and then grinding I quickly turned off 4 wheel drive high it was never in 4 low. I white knuckled it to the airport. took it to Motor Tech again. they blame me -saying I was on the highway in 4 low going too fast on dry roads based on my wife's communications. that never happened. I was driving and she doesn't know how my 4X4 works. regardless of what Charlie's going to say about this they would not make it good. I in turn had to replace the transfer case myself which now works perfectly fine. I say warning beware of this shop. Regardless of their past positive reviews I hope this stands out as their 1st negative and people read it beware. I spent thousands there and they wouldn't even try to make it right. I wouldn't lie about this.. I think it's your brain - let's take it out and check it -I'll have to ship it to a Chinese meat market maybe they will find your flaw In your business ethics. read more

I bought an old Land Cruiser in July 2019 that needed a lot of work. After going to 3 different shops in the downtown area, I was referred to Motor Tech. Charlie and his team are great. I cannot recommend them enough. Finding a good mechanic is one of those things in life that's always difficult and it's awesome when you finally find someone you can trust. Charlie is professional, honest to a fault, and fair with his pricing. The guys at Motor Tech will take the time to explain what needs to be repaired and they won't initiate work without talking it through first. I moved out of state but I will seriously consider bringing my vehicles back to Motor Tech if I need serious work done. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Jerry Lytle started this company and my family went here for 30+ years. He sold the company to some dirty putz named Mike. We didnt know about the business acquisition and he would not tell me where Jerry was, as if nothing had happened and played it off like he was just a new employee. He tried to charge me to test my car battery; I left not knowing I owed him anything, and he called everybody in my family trying to collect! Who does that?! I should have just gone to Sears Automotive!!! We encourage everyone to go next door to Hartman. He is an honest loyal mechanic with good work ethic. read more

One morning, I was driving my boyfriend to work and I heard something snap on the back left of my vehicle.. I got out to check and my back right control arm had completely snapped, leaving my tire leaning inwards. Luckily we had broke down right in front of motor tech, on Broadway. We managed to drive the car in the parking lot and we waited in the car until the doors opened. Once the owners/mechanics had arrived, we went inside and explained what happened.. They were the nicest mechanics I had ever came across! They got my car in and out in no time that same day! Ever since, I always take my car to Motor Tech. They are extremely knowledgeable, HONEST, and very fair priced. I've gone to many mechanics/auto shops before and have felt completely disrespected and ripped off because of my lack of knowledge of mechanics and cars. I went to Motor Tech on the advice of a friend after getting an expensive estimate from the Honda dealer. My battery had died a few times, and the dealership told me that my alternator was bad and had taken the battery down with it. The Honda dealer's estimate to repair the alternator and replace the battery was over $800 (about $650 of that was for the alternator), and it was going to take a few days to fix because they had to order the alternator. On my friend's advice, I called Motor Tech to get a second opinion. Charlie diagnosed the problem - my battery was indeed bad, but my alternator was fine. He was able to replace the battery and make sure there wasn't anything else that was drawing too much on the battery, and the total cost to fix it was about $175. Over $600 saved, and he fixed it within a couple of hours. We were so impressed with Charlie (who apparently has owned Motor Tech for a year or two now.) He seemed like a straightforward, honest, and very knowledgeable guy. It's not a fancy shop, but it's family-run, very friendly, and most importantly, they do quality, honest work! I've used Motor Tech for many years and have had better service and results than anywhere in the area or anywhere else that I've lived. The first time that we used Mike we had a Honda Accord that we brought to him. The local dealer and another auto service business could not diagnose the problem, they wanted to replace a computer in the car that would cost more than the car was worth. It was a complex problem, but Mike was able to troubleshoot the issue and got it fixed in a short period of time. Since then we bring our Avalon, Suburban and Echo to him. I don't trust many people with my cars and Motor Tech is the only place I feel I get an honest assessment and solution to our car issues. Thanks Motor Tech! read more

Positives: Friendly staff (well, one staff), mechanic test drives your vehicle before handing it back to you, mechanic shows you what the issues are and doesn't just tell you, thorough service, albeit sometimes unnecessary, mechanic's dog is called Boba Fett Negatives: I brought my vehicle in to get an oil change and get the tires dismounted, snow tires put on, balanced and rotated. Guess how long that took? Over 5 hours! I was like, WTF?! I was gone for part of it, came back at the 2 hour mark hoping to see that it was ready, since he told me it would take a couple of hours, and there was my car, still on the rack. I might understand if it was a busy day and they had two or three cars being worked on before mine, but I was the only customer that entire afternoon! They only had one mechanic, Charlie, working on my car. His work could not be completed on time however, because his mother was loitering about and chit-chatting with everyone, claiming to be "helping out", and two guys were installing new software programs on the office computer. These "gentlemen" repeatedly called him into the office to show him something, while his one and only customer was still waiting endlessly for his vehicle to be finished. One would think he could have told them that he needed to finish this car for the customer first, and then he could sit down with them the rest of the afternoon to go over things. Ha, no. Mike, the owner of the shop, wasn't even there for most of the time, and then when he returned, he was just standing around doing nothing, and not even offering to help get their ONE tiresome and irritated customer out of there. I later found out that Charlie is buying the shop from Mike, and he assured me that all policies will remain the same. So I take it that means their poor customer service and ungodly wait times? Great. Then I get the news that I need a new part, which will set me back $800, but it will take most of the day to replace, if he doesn't have any help, which is very likely. AND he failed to put one of my tire valve caps back on, which I now need to replace. I cannot understand how an autobody shop can run efficiently with just one mechanic actually working on the vehicles AND taking care of all the office responsibilities. He needs to get more mechanics helping out there, or he is going to lose business. Many of my family have been coming to this shop for years, and my father used to rave about it and refused to go anywhere else, so in his memory, I thought I would give it a try, but never again. The high prices and ghastly wait times are not enough to balance out the very few positives of this repair shop. I highly recommend going somewhere else. Unless you're the sort who enjoys not having their car the entire day, and pick it up only to be fit with a high bill and even higher repair recommendations. If so, then this is exactly the place for you! read more
