Took the MSF course here at Motown Harley , and just want to say thanks again to the great instructors there . If you are thinking about taking this course and you are an absolute beginner like I am , over 40 and 1st time ever being on a Harley or whatever age or experience you have don't hesitate you will not regret it . Donna was awesome instructor she was very good at communicating and very knowledgeable and made our class very comfortable with the whole experience. I definitely will be back for an Advance course when I am ready . Thanks again to the whole staff I really enjoyed the whole experience and still enjoying it Completion day 4/18/25

They have Fun Bike Nights here, but I could not get tires installed on my Buell. New Tires for my 2008 Buell Ulysess in 2025 In March I got a Text from Motown Harley Davidson in Taylor MI. They offered $60.00 Rebate on two Dunlop Tires if I purchased Installation too. I am guessing that Rebate would come from Dunlop, thus who did the Installation should have been irrelevant. I wrote an e-mail to Motown with the tire size and model of Dunlop tires that I wanted. I never got a replay. After a month I called Motown. They put me on hold for a bit, then they told me that they don't work on Buell's. The other day I watched a Video from Bert's Barracuda; Meet Bert King From Texas | The Uncle Daddy Show Bert's Motor Company You Tube Channel. What I know about Bert's I know from the "Shade Tree Surgeon" youtube channel. Ralph/Uncle Daddy said to call Belt Buckle Betty if you need parts or service, if I can recall correctly. I chose to make an inquiry via their Web site about Tires for my Buell. I have plans to visit FL for the Forgotten Angles Camp Out. I just checked that is in October. Within 1/2 hour I had gotten three phone calls from Bert's. The Second call from a parts guy with the price for the tires plus Installation Labor, Shop Fee and Sales Tax. I had told the first gal who contacted me about Motown HD telling me that they don't work on Buell's. The third call was from John Dempsy. There was some confusion thinking that one of Bert's Locations had told me that they did not work on Buell's. That never happened, only the Dealer in Michigan told me that. I decided to go with Michelin Road Pilot VI-GT Tires.

I took my weekend endorsement training here. We had classroom Friday evening, Saturday morning we were already riding in the back lot and feet up by 9 AM. Sunday was more classroom training. I was in a class with about 20 other students. Our teachers or trainers were police officers in the Deerborn area. They taught us proper writing and safety precautions. They also showed us how to lift the bike ourselves if it tips over on one side, The proper weight and using the weight of the bike and not overexerting ourselves. We were all a group of professionals and quite an eclectic mix of people. It was some of the best training that I could've ever hoped for. I was much better prepared for taking the actual test as a result. They let us take some commemorative photos, just for fun. My husband bought a Dyna from here. The service is stellar and maintenance is great. I was going to buy a sportster, but I couldn't write it flat-footed. They definitely take care of you from beginning to end and throughout.

Upon entering the building, we were greeted with a friendly smile and staff ready to assist and help you. We checked in for our orientation class to prep us for our motorcycle class coming up in two weeks. Matt was very friendly and gave us a tour of the facility, he showed us all the bikes and the warehouse where the actual class will be taking place along where we will do the actual bike riding. He explained in detail all the specific gear and items we will need at the start of class. We tried on the different types of helmets and Heihla was excellent, she measured us and gave us a quickly class on the different types of helmets and which ones would be a better fit for us. So, if you're like me and this is your first time to try out bike riding, this is the place! I'm looking forward to my class and then purchasing my new Harley (HOG).

Has anyone had problems with improper repair of their bike?

I had major issues with them years ago. I'd brought my wife's bike in 2 or 3 times because of stalling issues. The bike was still under warranty. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with it (I honestly don't think they even looked at it), gave… Read more

I did notice in the back room, there was no place for employees to sit and relax when on break or lunch. Also no shelves or coat racks or storage lockers so employees have to leave their expensive riding gear out for other employees to rifle through when nobody is looking! No shelves to put their nice helmets. Maybe your employees ride to work since they are obvious enthusiasts and just might ride in. How cheap you are and gross with greed. Spend $100 and I bet they would install shelving in their own time. Take care of your people and they will take care of you. Maybe your shrinkage rates will drop? What a concept. If you weren't the only motorcycle store around I would no longer spend my money there. Oh and your frequent buyer membership that you only allow discounts on your brands that you pay a fraction of the wholesale costs for is also gross! I don't want your made up crap that is designed for high profit gain. Greed Gear or fuck wipes motorcycle dear would be a better name. Sick shit what you corporations are doing to the people that provide your revenue for your multiple homes, Italian sports cars and 6 figure salaries. **UPDATE*** After…read morethe initial sale... things just kept getting worse. They sold me a used bike with only one key and never told me there wasn't a spare. After I asked about it, they told me they could order another for me... but I'd have to pay for it (lame). I said okay, but they never got the KTM registration card from the previous owner, so they couldn't order another one. Ok, great! I asked if they could help out because when I call KTM, they said I would have to go through the dealer. After numerous attempts of asking my sales rep for help--nothing. After 5 or 6 attempts, I got tired of asking. So, I'm stuck with one key. Hope I never lose it! Another thing that sucks... Trojan claims that their used bikes go under inspection. However, when I got the bike there was an issue with the brake squeaking loudly when stopping. Turns out a pad needed to be fixed. The horn was also not working. So, they sold a used bike to me without even know the horn was shot? Which leads me to believe nothing was inspected and there could have been many things wrong or broken. They were cool enough to come pick up the bike and fix it for me after the sale. Wish it would have been taken care of before! Unfortunately upon delivery of the bike, I had new scratches on the tail that were NOT there prior. Assuming it's from the strap used to secure the bike in their truck during transportation to and from the dealership. The scratches are on both sides of the tail, exactly where a strap would sit. Never said anything to me. If they would have offered to fix it, I wouldn't be updating this review to a one star. But here we are. I also had asked them to email me a copy of my previous bikes odometer statement. I traded in my used bike... and instead of paying off the loan balance for me, they made me contribute $500... just to get more of my money. Since $5,400k for the used KTM wasn't enough. LOL! I said screw it because I was already at the dealership coming from an hour away. And I planned on getting a refund on my old warranty that could help cover that loss. After a few emails back and forth, I never got the copy of the statement. Frustrating sequence of events. Wouldn't do business with these guys again. If you want to buy a motorcycle, here's my advice: buy from a private seller. You'll get a better deal and more honesty.

When I contacted Alexander Samul the owner of the company he claimed he was not making enough money on the deal and I now needed to send him the money via zelle, cash app, or PayPal friends and family so he could avoid paying taxes and "keep it off the books" as he put it. What kind of legit business asks a complete stranger they've never met in person to send them 2800 dollars thru cash app to pay for a bike they've not even seen in person yet? He couldn't even stick to the agreement we made a mere 3 hours prior and canceled the invoice he sent me without telling me. This Owner of Detroit Moped Works lied to me and did not keep his word. He then tried to justify his lies by saying things change and we didn't have any type of legal agreement to purchase the bike. Where I come from a man's word means everything and this guy is giving small business's everywhere a bad name by not honoring the agreement we made. He then cried the blues about how he could barely keep the lights on and just needed to make payroll which seemed like a very odd and unprofessional thing to do for a business owner. I contacted him to purchase a bike not be his therapist. There was nothing complicated or personal about this transaction. I was trying to purchase a Bike from Detroit Moped Works a retail shop that sells bikes, mopeds, and scooters, why would that be so complicated for them. They tried to change their story later when I called them out on what they were doing by saying it was a personal transaction when clearly it was not. In fact the bike I was going to purchase is for sale inside his store Detroit moped works so why would it be a personal transaction. They sent me an invoice to pay for the bike that was from the company Detroit Moped Works, again not something that would indicate a personal transaction. The words "off the books" were his words not mine as you can see from screenshot below. If your intention was not to operate "off the books" then why would you say that and use those exact words? Sure sounds like the owner is lying yet again. They continued to lie about what happened by saying the invoice was revised, the invoice was not revised because I asked for an extra day, in fact it wasn't revised at all. It was cancelled altogether because the owner became upset and thru a temper tantrum because he said he wasn't making enough money. Cancelling an official invoice from the business and asking someone to cash app or zelle you personally so you can avoid the taxes and credit card fees is not what I call revising the invoice. This business says they operate with professionalism so why does the owner not show that same professionalism. The bigger question is why is the owner of Detroit Moped Works selling bikes from his own shop personally off the books? That does not sound like a legit business operating on the up and up to me. The invoice I received from him was from the company Detroit Moped Works. That would indicate it's NOT some type of personal transaction. I'll attach a copy of the invoice received from Detroit Moped Works to purchase the bike. I want to be very clear. This did NOT happen because of any type of miscommunication. The owner of Detroit Moped Works straight up lied to me and backed out of the deal we made because he was greedy and decided he wanted to make more money from the transaction.
