What a wonderful surprise! Although the menu is not huge, what they do serve is excellent! We decided to try a variety. We had to start with the flaming cheese! Well worth the price - it's a show! Lovely pita bread - so soft and fresh. We got the Hummus platter, the charcuterie platter, a gyro platter, and the Hubs could not resist the southwest burger. Everything was wonderful. I had the gyro platter, which came with plenty of meat, pitas, rice and carrots, plus a salad! Everything was really good, and featured fresh tzatziki sauce. Yum. The Hubbs really enjoyed the burger and the fries were cooked perfectly. The jalapeño was grilled nicely and the bun was great. My friend made a meal of the hummus and the meatless charcuterie platter. And excellent service from Lane - what a delightful young man. There is always room for improvement- we weren't offered drink or dessert specials. And we didn't ask. But we should have! And the parking was terrible. Three people were double-parked, and if all the spots are taken, you have to back out on the street. I would recommend parking in the empty lot north of the restaurant. read more

Really happy that we came across this eatery in the relatively small city of Florence. The Greek items were quite good, and there are plenty of other things on the menu too. We had the Greek Salad and Falafel Pita. We were greeted promptly by the manager (or owner) and our young server Nicoletta did a great job with our 6-person group. Came here with friends for a nice dinner. Started with an order of hummus which was delicious. Not overly garlic and had a nice citrus flavor as well. Also had the flaming cheese OPA. Wow. We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in and given a choice of seating. The restaurant is old, but very intriguing and very clean. The menu has a good choice of items at reasonable prices. I am gluten free however and didn't notice anything with that designation. I ordered the Greek salad with gyro meat. It was HUGE!!! Such delicious, moist, tender, flavorful meat. Lots of feta cheese as well as olives, cucumber , onion, tomato and taziki sauce with an Italian? Dressing on the side. There was so much meat (beef and lamb combined), there was no way I could eat it all, but took a box home. The friendly waitress also kept an eye out and refilled our drinks as needed. My husband had a delicious hamburger and onion rings ( of which about 1/2 went in my box!!). I'm pretty sure we will return and bring some friends! read more

Im going to be very transparent with my review. Came in alone after work. I went ahead and got the "daily special" leg of lamb. Didn't know rice, can of carrots, and 3 dry slices of lamb was worth 30 dollars, but the meal was decent with taste. Unfortunately the server left a bad taste in my mouth. Very sarcastic from the start. Forgetting utensils and saying I didn't need them. I know she was obviously joking but it wasn't funny after staring at my salad for 10 minutes. A must visit in Florence! I always order the grilled chicken salads at any Greek restaurant I visit, but this place has converted me and I'm now a Gyro girl!! The gyro meat is perfection, Dolmadakia is a must have and Baklava was served with lemon which was delightful. Absolutely amazing food, even if you don't like Greek food their burgers are by far the best in Florence. Steak fries were hot, fresh, and we'll seasoned. Service was attentive! I really love how friendly everyone here is. Awesome vibes. Unfortunately the hummus was flavorless. But maybe that's how real hummus is? We added salt, pepper, and they even gave us some minced garlic and it tastes great after a little doctoring. For those it matters to, nobody here wears masks. We wore ours and we sat far enough away from others that it wasn't a huge deal but I do prefer when staff wears masks. Shows they actually care. read more

Recommend from a couple we met at the Casa grande ruins they were park rangers. They told us about Florence AZ, great little town with probably the best Greek food I had in 10 years maybe in my life. The spicy gyro I had was seasoned to perfection, the tzatziki sauce and coleslaw were delicious. Great drink selection, My wife had chicken souvlaki, and she enjoyed her dish as much as I did mine. We drive from Tucson to Florence just to eat their wonderful food and enjoy their friendly people. I love their Salisbury steak and candied carrots (which tastes like it's the DESSERT!). For a small town this place was fantastic. The salad was so good I even asked the waitress what kind of salad dressing they used. The gyro sandwich was also fantastic. Not exactly what I would call a Greek restaurant. The food was acceptable, but we have been to Greece a number of times. This was a generic American fair with a few Greek dishes thrown in. This is the best spot to eat in Florence. Given the size and nature of the town, Mount Athos is more a "big fish in a small pond". In comparison to other Greek restaurants it's not as great. They're more American than Greek, serving a pickle and coleslaw on the side like a burger joint rather than rice and fresh greens. The rice was too salty also. As for appearance, it was very clean and well decorated, the interior was spacious too. The service was timely but overly attentive, meaning I wasn't given much time to enjoy my food, I was constantly asked how it was. The gyro was really tasty though, the portions were unbelievable, but in a sandwich it was actually a bit frustrating--had to take out nearly half the gyro meat to make the sandwich feasible to eat. Even the slices of onion were too big, large enough to be on a burger but instead makes each bite taste only like onion. I've been in Florence during each work week for a couple months and understand that most of the regulars and residents in the town are BIG guys, either here with the military or working at the prison, so I can understand why this place chooses to have untraditionally Greek sides and huge, bordering on wasteful portions, but this is my honest outlook: it could be less Americanized, less salty, and big portions rather than huge. Tip: if you get the gyro sandwich, order an extra pita! You can make another sandwich with the meat that comes in the gyro sandwich! Buy one get one free read more

For non greek lovers they have burgers which honestly are pretty good too! Not an item that they just threw on the menu, but instead something that actually looks good and tastes good!
