Decided to try Mount Heritage Bar and Grill today. This cute new location off Rt. 11 brings a new cuisine (Nepalese) to the area, along with usual American grub (ie chicken tenders, burgers, Philly cheesesteak, etc). Service was great. The owner was one of the three working today. The owner loaded up our tray with food, utensils, condiments and walked it over to us instead of us having to get it ourselves. I don't know if that was bc we came before the rush and he was able to or if that's an every day thing. As we ate and others were getting their to-go orders, I learned that the owner is an honest person. He made sure the recipients of the to-go orders knew the number of drinks that came with their order. I assume someone ordered two meals but only chose one drink, and he told them they got two and to get another one. The space is small but there is plenty of outside seating. I hope they'll find a way to close off the outside and put heaters up to accommodate the upcoming cooler seasons. I wish this place luck, as this location needs a variety in food type and venues!

This place is great! Little diner with friendly staff, good food ordered at the counter (served in foam containers), and an eclectic atmosphere. Our kiddos loved their cheeseburgers - one of them didn't even want ketchup on his, said it was "really good and like no other cheeseburger" he's ever had. Cheeseburgers came with a bag of Route 11 chips and either a canned soda or bottled water. The adults each got gyros, one with chicken, one with lamb. Delicious especially with the sauce that comes with them. The gyros come with cucumber sauce, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, and a generous number of green olives. One of us picked out the olives but we both enjoyed our gyros. We opted to "make it a combo" for both gyros which was a side of fries and drink each. Only downside was the fries were very salty but still yummy when dipped in the cucumber sauce. We were also impressed that the only employee there tonight was able to serve us so quickly. We'll be back! I look forward to trying the mix over rice next time.

Stopped here yesterday (Oct 19th) for lunch and was not disappointed- the gyro was delicious. Definitely going back for the chicken platter.

The waitress was very friendly and very accommodating with recommendations for dietary restrictions. The fried chicken is an absolute must.. perfectly fried and crispy and good balance of flavors. I would also recommend getting the gravy on the side and eating everything with it... not exactly sure what is in it but keep doing your thing Southern Kitchen. We were seated quickly and we noticed our waitress was Slow on getting to the tables for drinks and after about 10 minutes she came by and got our drinks. Upon her getting close and speaking it was very apparent she was very intoxicated and I remarked that it was sad about her condition. As we waited for our food we watched her interactions with other tables and she had problems remembering what table was which. She delivered food to the wrong tables and dropped other food on the floor trying to deliver it. Her fellow waitresses were actually calling her out in the middle of the dining room telling her to get her act together. When she delivered the food the hamburger steak platter was literally a dry hamburger patty that was old and had a thimble of gravy. the mashed potatoes were instant and had been poorly mixed because the powder was still dry in the middle. The glazed carrots were old soggy and brown ( see the picture) . We never got a bill because she just disappeared completely. We went to pay and the cashier was able to look up the order and we spoke to her about the waitress needing some help and her condition and all she would say is " we will try"

The restaurant was not busy when we arrived around 11:30. We were seated right away, but did wait longer than anticipated to place our drink and food order. We probably waited 45 minutes to get our food, which seemed too long based on the fact that there were only two tables to serve at that time. Our food arrived warm, not hot. My spouse ordered a special for the day, pork loin with mashed potatoes and gravy. It arrived with no gravy and it was a small portion. He said it was tasty, though, with the gravy he asked our waitress for. I ordered the BLT sliders with my request to add cheddar cheese and fried potatoes. I thought there should be more than one piece of bacon per slider, but the meal did taste fresh and flavorful. I am not sure that I would return, but I am not sorry we gave them a try. Service was friendly, but could have been more prompt. The food is tasty, but the portion sizes are small.

The inside reminds me of a Chili's or Ruby Tuesday, but a bit darker. I think it's a nice atmosphere, appropriate for date night, a group, a family, etc. Our server (who has worked here for 3 years) was friendly and efficient. To start, we ordered a bowl of yesterday's soup special (She crab) and a small order of boiled shrimp. The soup was excellent, creamy, and with small pieces of crab throughout. The shrimp (six in the small order) were prepared well and came with a tangy cocktail sauce. The server brought over a loaf of their complimentary bread, which is actually three breads together in a single loaf. The bread was good (I preferred the dark loaf part) and came with a peach butter. We were told that the butters change periodically. The butter had pieces of peach in it (!) and we enjoyed the novelty. Our server mentioned that they also have a pistachio butter and maple butter. Yum. I ordered a salad with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side. The salad itself was good - fresh, with crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, apple, almond pieces, etc. Then there was the dressing. Although I mixed the salad dressing in the cup before tasting it, when I did taste it, it was almost all oil with no discernible vinegar or other flavor. I kept stirring and tasting and nothing. So I abandoned the dressing. For entrees, my partner ordered the charbroiled salmon in herb butter with a side of broccoli. The salmon was prepared well and very tasty. I ordered the mahi-mahi, with the sun-dried tomato butter sauce on the side. The mahi-mahi was well prepared and tasty on its own. Honestly, I tasted the sun-dried tomato butter sauce and it was essentially whipped butter. I didn't think it added anything to the entree so I didn't use it. The potato came with butter and sour cream on the side. The potato was very good. Although we were full and not planning on dessert, the server came over with small cups of peppermint ice cream, calling it a "palate cleanser." It was very good and a nice touch. Other than the salad dressing and the sauce for the fish, it was an excellent meal in a nice atmosphere with good service. When we were leaving at around 7:00 pm, the line was out the door.

She said it was tasty and the sauce sublime. Overall, a must dine at historic restaurant in Staunton.
