Food was good, portions were generous. Workers were very friendly. Prices are not that expensive.

After 4 hours into a road trip and no fast food places in sight, my friends and I stopped at Mt Ivy diner, the only food stop in sight. It looked quaint on both the outside and inside, so we were optimistic..big mistake. I guess it's a given that the only restaurant within sight in that area wouldn't be anything special, but it was terrible to say the least We all ordered drinks, and I guess you can't expect much from a diner, but this was BAD. I don't recommend any of the drinks we ordered, aka the house wines, frozen margaritas, strawberry daquiri. Out of the 3, the frozen margarita was the worst. It was PAINFUL, and when i say this, I'm not exaggerating- tasted like frozen seawater. The daquiri was pretty much kool aid with cheap alcohol. The wraps, burger, hot dog, and sandwich that were ordered were all hard to mess up, but all somehow just not good. The only star I'll give is for the service. The wait staff was courteous and attentive, but regardless, I'm pretty sure all of our stomaches will be paying us back later tonight for what we put them through at this place. read more

My review is only for the helpful service we received, since we did not order food at the diner. We were traveling in a Lyft car from Orange County to Long Island. We had to abandon our Lyft driver in Pomona, because he was incredibly unsafe. We entered the diner asking for help to get to our destination on Long Island. The manager and staff quickly called a car service for us, and we arrived at our destination. The staff was very helpful and understanding, which helped calm us. Thank you for everything! read more

I've been here 3 times since moving to the area, but now I'm calling it quits. Have tried breakfast once And dinner twice; the food is just not tasty and fresh. The one time my bro and I sat in for breakfast the service was average. But seriously, diner basics like the eggs and bacon are just missing something, and last night I had a beef gyro with Greek salad and waffle fries. Just because you throw raw onions and feta in a salad doesn't make it Greek, and the dressing was some italian concoction; inedible. The beef gyro was fake gyro meat, not off the skewer, and the souvlaki sauce (thankfully they put it on the side instead if on the gyro) tasted past it's time, very sour and definitely not homemade. Thankfully they didn't screw up the waffle fries. I am not a big fan of diners in general, but this is probably the worst one I've been to in New York and New Jersey. There is a reason I don't see them packed. I would steer clear and find a different place if your are looking for classic diner food. read more

We had breakfast here recently. I don't come here often but, the service is always good when I do. We had eggs and my son had the mini cheeseburger kids meal. Food was good and freshly made. My family and I went to dinner on a Friday night. No one met us at the seating area. After a few minutes a waitress appeared. The food was great but the service disgraceful. My brother and I just went there for breakfast. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. The menu is so very small, and the food has no seasoning whatsoever. The well lit parking lot and shiny exterior were eclipsed by an awful experience inside. Ugh, the floor was dirty and sticky. I waited way too long for help before I had to go seek someone in the kitchen and the staff acted as if they were doing me a huge favor. They were just plain rude. I left without eating. It's a shame because they are one of the few places in the neighborhood open late but tonight I drove all the way to Nyack instead. Previous bad experiences here include getting my orders all wrong, consistently rude staff, and a few really bad meals - including food that wasn't fresh. had the walnut chicken salad and it was amazing ! they breaded the chicken with walnuts which was surprisingly delicious. came with dried fruits which was not overwhelmingly sweet. also i hate romaine lettuce so i am glad there was mesclun and spring mix . service was great too and the owner even stopped by to see how our meal was. I went there after not going for years only because I heard it had a new owner so why not be fair and give it a shot. It was a Friday nite around 7 and the place was pretty empty. The waiter greeted us with sit anywhere. I ordered a burger medium and it came out well done but was really pretty good. My wife noticed that the staff was not friendly at all and nobody talked to us. The food came out and was put on the table. The waiter glanced over and never came near us to see if it was okay. The plates were picked up and instead of how about dessert or anything else we got the check. Yes thats what I wanted but its always nice to ask. Went to the cashier to pay and she was on her cell phone. Always one of my favorite things I might add. Ran my card, pointed at where to sign and asked if I needed a receipt. Not once putting the phone away from her mouth. I have lived without this place for years so I will continue to live without them. And I hope they read this. read more

I've been to this diner a few times as a last resort. Every time, the food just doesn't taste fresh. The diner itself is a nice place and most who work there are pleasant, but the food always tastes like it's been sitting around for awhile. A solid 3. I had the chicken parm wrap and the strawberry shake. Both were delicious. The server, Audrey, gave outstanding service. My only complaint about this place would be for who I assume was the owner, a grumpy old man who complained that we had "too many checks" and rushed us to sign our receipts and leave. We had asked him to split our check into four separate ones, and he said we had to ask our server to do that. (Because I get outvoted by others who aren't feeling McDonalds at 1am). The food is mediocre, but the service is terrible. The wait time for food is always far longer then it should be for the amount of people there. They frequently make mistakes with the orders (twice they brought out the completely wrong dish). Not where it says on map. It is just off the Palisades Parkway, exit 13 for Route 202. I had the farm vegetables omelette with home fries and wheat toast with butter. Yummy vegetarian meal. My partner had a grapefruit, home fries, tomato and toast--vegan diner breakfast. Service was good enough. The decor is average diner, stuff seems new enough. TV was on with the Boston lock down while they found the suspect terrorists. I would have picked a different station for the coverage. He kept saying that he doesn't attack character and integrity, even though that's exactly what he was doing. I will never go back. This is literally the worst diner that I have ever been to. I have the misfortune of living close to the diner, so when I am lazy, I inevitably find myself there. I kick myself afterwards everytime. 1) They have the rudest staff that I have ever seen, and Archie, the owner, has no problem cursing out the waiters/busboys with the most toxic stream of curses I've ever heard in public (it's well known among local waiters never to work at Mt. Ivy, which is probably why they have the bottom level of staff). They take forever to serve you, and almost always mess up your order. Yesterday I went there in the evening. I specifically asked for decaf coffee because I am allergic to caffeine. Of course, they gave me regular. I just got out of the hospital a few hours ago. This was the last straw. 2) The food is greasey. If you like food dripping in fat (as many do)...you'll still be grossed out by this mess. 3) Did I mention how terrible the staff is? I remember one waitress (an older lady) confiding in me about how she hated that there were so many mexicans working with her. She said "I need to learn f**king spanish to work here. They should go back to mexico." I don't know why she felt that this is something she could tell me, but she did. In short, this place is a trap, the worst diner in rockland county. Not only should you avoid it, you should boycott it until the owners learn that you can't treat patrons and staff the way that they do. read more

Ran into this place with my mother and Aunt when we were looking for a place to eat. It is your typically average diner. The staff was quick which is really important in a diner in my opinion. I liked the old school feel it had. There were juke boxes at the booths and decadent cakes in the front. The food was really good. I had a greek salad and ruben. All was delicious. Nothing to write home about but still very pleasing. My mother shared these items with me and my aunt got a steak. She ate the entire thing! It did look quite yummy. read more

Honestly, this place is the pits. What I would give to actually have a quality diner at that location. Lots of diners have huge menus, but Mount Ivy can't handle theirs. Things like paninis and sandwiches are okay, but I wouldn't stray further. Diner breakfast should be a slam dunk, but theirs is painfully average to below average. It's a diner..... That said I had low expectations going in. I went with two other people and we were all craving something sweet. I had a piece of cake that was very good. It was a huge slice and I couldn't finish it. Friend 1 had the coconut lemon cake, that was revolting. Friend two ordered a large chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on top since the list of toppings for a sundae is limited to chocolate syrup. The place was empty. Overall it appeared to be clean....... Aside from the napkin that possibly was recycled from the people that sat there before us........ CAVEAT: Although this was written and submitted on April 15, 2016, I haven't actually been there in about a year. It's a diner, so take that for what it's worth. Although it isn't Rockland's best diner by any means, it probably is not its worst either. However, there is really very little about it to warrant an unconditional recommendation. I see - based upon another review - that there are new owners. Admittedly, as referenced above, I haven't been there since the new regime took over, so maybe it's better than I remember its being. I came here with my friends the weekend after Valentine's Day and we came to celebrate and we got nothing but disgusting treatment the server had an attitude brought our food to the table like 1+hrs after we ordered never checked back on us and I had a friend who came late who needed to order and he didn't even get to order until after we got our food and his food came so late. Our burgers weren't well done they were like Raw it was disgusting. Over priced the pizza was bad. After bad service and bad food when we had to pay they combined all our ordered when we asked for it separately some lady was saying well you can't do that because you should've asked before and we did and we were ignored.
