This is really a solid diner, not a cafe: large menu with the typical breakfast, lunch and dinner items; and usual booths and seating (slightly cleaner and better than an area diner). Located in a small plaza with 7-11 and a few other small stores, we were greeted right away upon entering. There were a few customers but it was not packed which meant we got a booth, yay. The waiter informed us of the specials, most of which I hesitate to order at a diner: paella, octopus, steak, etc. The menu is plentiful with the usual items as well as more Spanish dishes like empanadas, Spanish breakfast, etc. The Italian vegetable panini with salad was not bad but it was odd that the salad had the same ingredients as the panini (sans portobellos), leaving the while dish feeling one note. The burger was the typical diner burger. Overall pricing was okay, given rising costs, though some of the entrees were $25-30+, which i wouldn't do. I wonder what the Spanish dishes would have tasted like because perhaps those are their stars. Service was attentive, though it felt like they were trying to make this more into an elevated experience vs. what it was. Pretty good. I should have gotten an omelet. Everyone there, and most appeared to be regulars, was munching on an omelet. Should have gone that direction. Got a triple-decker chicken cutlet sandwich, which was pretty good. Sister got a chicken and eggplant thing on a pita. Also OK. The portions were generous. The waffle and regular fries were standard diner fries, which is a good thing. Now for the chili. It is straight up marinara bolognese. I guarantee this is the exact same stuff they serve on spaghetti. They just throw some cheddar on it and serve it next to some chips. Pretty bad. Other than that, not bad. I come here all the time with my parents. It has a nice warm, inviting diner atmosphere. And the owner and staff are super friendly and welcoming. Their Sangria is surprisingly good and a huge pour. Also this is the ONLY restaurant that makes popovers- and they are complimentary. If you never had one come here and try it. I always ask for extra. They are big eggy muffin type things, super airy and warm and delicious with butter. The dinner specials are such a great deal and come with soup or salad and dessert. They have a huge menu with lots of options. Everything is super great quality and fresh. The portions are large and plentiful. The salads are super large and all prices are reasonable. $16.99 for a huge salad with salmon on top! The chicken dishes are excellent too. Good local place I spotted Main Street Café this morning while I was in New City and stopped in. It was not busy. Nice place, well maintained and clean, and it is always good to support local businesses. A friendly greeting and coffee was a great start. I decided on their Farmer's Omelette, basically a 3 egg omelette with meat. I was a bit underwhelmed when I dove in, even though I could see ham and sausage the small pieces were so thin. I had to hunt for evidence of bacon and did find some. I had hoped for a more substantial amount of meat. It came with homefries. They were just unseasoned potatoes, not an uncommon find at breakfast places I visit, but not as good as places that make more of an effort to flavor the food with a little onion or peppers and seasoning. The music in the background was SiriusXM radio. I know this because it was loaded with commercials for SiriusXM radio. Maybe pay for the service or switch to something else? Oscar took amazing care of us, drinks were refilled in a very prompt fashion, burger was on point, even cooked properly just like I asked, (medium rare) the toppings were plenty, and the order was perfect. Usually go there and all good. However, a sole customer came in and was coughing, sneezing and no mask. A few of us gave him disgusted looks and he went to bathroom and then asked for check and left. He looked sick. I asked the staff to spray and wipe down his table, but got a blank stare. Wake up guys this is serious pandemic. Everyone should wear a mask indoors when not eating or drinking. I want to like this place so bad but I just don't. I've ordered takeout from here many times and there is always an issue. When prepared correctly, the food is great. I love their crab cake salad, however it is hit or miss whether or not it will be made with all the ingredients listed. Also, wait time for this place is very long. They tell you it will be ready in 10-15 minutes, but I've waited as long as 40--do yourself the favor and don't show up when they tell you it will be ready. I had a taste of buffalo chicken wrap, it was good too. Spicy. Tasty. I had a taste of shrimp quesadilla, strangely enough it was also good. Never heard of shrimp quesadillas. Try it here. Oh my, what a train wreck! Not my first meal there, but will be my last. - This place is a disaster! Went for breakfast this morning with my wife, waited almost an hour to be served, watched while 4 other couples who came in after us were seated, ordered and were served. When we finally got our food, had to send back one breakfast due to UNDISCLOSED allergen. - Watched in horror when cook literally threw food through the pass-through window at one of the wait staff in the front eating area! When I discussed it with the manager, he would take no responsibility for it and made no apology. - The cook is very talented. Managed to make Chorizo and Cheese taste like nothing! Impressive talent, that. I'm not a fan of Dunkin Donuts, but would advise anyone considering this place to walk past it and 3 doors down is a DD. Their service is also bad, but the food has some flavor. We paid full price for food that would not meet minimum standards at the local high school cafeteria. - Will not return - Place closing for a few days for renovations.
