I'm so jealous of the people (like my dinner partner) who live locally. What a cool New City spot. They recently added some Peruvian dishes like Lomo Saltado, Tallarines Verdes, Chaufa and a Jalea Special. Everything was tasty and generous portions. I had my leftovers the next day and they were just as good. The wait staff is lovely and very attentive. My business partner and I played in a golf tournament at the New York Golf Club and came here after the event for dinner. First off, we were greeted with a welcoming smile and decided to sit in the bar. We started with calamari, which was great, and we both had the same thing the rest of the way! Chicken parm was very good, and pasta too. The sauce was nice. We finished the night with the peanut butter pie which was perfect. Service was great, she was sparkling and very on top of things. The one factor that was difficult, was that the a/c was broken. We were hot from golf so we got very little relief. But everything made up for a little uncomfortableness. read more

We moved around the corner from here in March of 23 and my husband and I kept saying we need to give this place a try. I'm so sad we waited but so happy we finally did!! Food was served to virtual perfection as the service was impeccable (Emma was the BEST!) what a wonderful variety of food. Don't let the name fool you, it is not only Italian food. My wife's Bronzino came with two delicious fillets, as all mains were plentiful and cooked to perfection. Made a reservation 11/11 for 12/6 for 2 prime ribs. 12/6 arrives and we show up. We get seated and as I begin to order the prime rib, I'm told they are out. Confused, i mention that i reserved them. Turns out, my reservation does not exist. Even better, they failed to mention they do not take prime rib reservations anymore (unlike the past few years). Extremely disappointed as we were looking forward to this dinner. Whoever "took" the reservation not only failed to put it in their book, but failed to let me know of their policy change. Did enjoy their egg rolls and tacos, but might not return as their prime rib was one of the reasons we really went. we always reserved them in years past to enjoy after we get off at 5pm and no ones driving like a lunatic to get this special. What a great spot! My boyfriend and I stopped in for an early dinner last night and everything was so good. I had French onion soup and the skirt steak, which was cooked perfectly! Gio's is relatively new and has been totally redecorated. The restaurant has a wide variety of menu with many classic American dishes, plus seafood and Peruvian food. I enjoyed the combination of salmon and baby back ribs. My wife enjoyed her Asian chicken salad. The mixed cocktails are well made and service good. The only problem is the noise level is high and the restaurant wasn't even half filled. There is a small outdoor patio if you want to eat outside. read more

The food was very good. However, we would have enjoyed it more were it not for the seating arrangement. The back of my chair was under 2 feet away from another table's back of the chair, therefore, there was no six foot distance. I also noticed the waiters were pulling their masks under their nose frequently. I would give zero stars if available. We wanted to get steak. We are visiting my mom from out of town; she said she has been here before and liked it. We looked at the menu online and it looked liked there was a nice variety. We ordered drinks for our table and an appetizer. Our appetizer arrived BEFORE our drinks from the bar. After 25 minutes 2/3 drinks arrived. After another 10 minutes the bartender arrived with drink #3 and apologized. Apparently she has to go to the basement for alcohol. Our dinner salads came 15 minutes later; my mother had requested no onions. Request ignored. After 40 minutes our entrees arrived. I order a filet medium rare. It was well done. Charred, in fact. I took one bite and spit it out . I don't usually complain but I simply had to. The manager offered me a new steak but I politely refused. It had taken so long to get our entrees I simply could not imagine waiting again. The manager took the filet off my bill. I should also add there was One waitress for the entire restaurant. Not sure if our experience was Covid related. Manager did say to us,"I hope you'll give us another chance and come back. " I can't imagine we would ever revisit this restaurant. read more

Very average with a boring menu. I had the shrimp tacos. Needed a magnifying glass to find the shrimp. It was tasty, but the portion was small. Other dishes ordered were branzino with mashed potatoes (it was ok, nothing great), and a blackened chicken and pasta dish, which was also fine, but uninspired. Will not be going back. Ok been pretty much locked up for a year like most others. Did not know that they opened but glad I got word from a friend. Benn here twice this week and the food is very solid. My buddy and I have split: Burger- nice char great bun. Chicken Romano - thought it was better than cheesecake which I like. Next time I would order xtra sauce Blackened chicken - comes with penne fresh and tasty chicken. Arrod chausas- A Peruvian dish which had chicken rice hotdogs onions and other stuff which was excellent. This was actually the best dish I had there. I LOVE this place, I think it's deceptively good. The Peruvian rice is really tasty, awesome cold the next day. Super good shrimp tacos, with the most generous use of avocados ever, and great spicy mayo sauce. Our favorite are the nachos. This is the only restaurant I've ever seen that packages nachos for delivery correctly, and it makes a huge difference. Best nachos I have ever had delivered. read more

My wife and I (seniors) had a really nice meal with two other couplesat Gio until the bill came. Each couple handed the waitress a credit card and were told that as policy they will only accept a maximum of two credit cards per table bill. This was so surprising because two weeks prior we sat at the same table with two other couples and they did accept and process our three cards. There was no notice given regarding this new policy. no signage , no mention of it when we made the reservations. We all found this unacceptable and unheard of. Never never in all of our dining out anywhere and everywhere have we every heard of a Restuarant one star or five star with such a policy. I decided to ask the Manager when did this policy go into effect and when he told me "we have always had it" I knew he was lying to me. After much discussion he finally agreed to have the server "override" the policy and split the bill on three cards. He seemed to care little when I told him none of us would be back. Like so what..... And yes he attempted to explain the policy and made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Something like well, sometimes we find that the third card we process charges to the second the card twice. Nonsense We might be old but not dumb. So if you go, check out all of their polices first. There might even be a new one. For us we will dine elsewhere. read more

My husband and I went to Gio's tonight for dinner and it was amazing. They had a Valentine's menu: 4 courses for $65. We each had an appetizer, mozzarella and tomato with prosciutto, and meatballs with ricotta. Then we had salads, garden and caesar. For dinner we chose the surf and turf, mouthwatering filet with a decent sized lobster tail. We both had a dessert, decadent chocolate cake and cheesecake. Went to gio's restaurant on a recent Saturday night, very disappointed. We sat in the bar area and the bartender was very friendly and efficient. However, the food was poor. My wife had the shrimp taco and I had the pepperoni pizza. The shrimp taco had maybe two baby shrimp in it, for 17.00 dollars , I expected a little more. The pizza was on par with a frozen pizza from the grocery store (Maybe it was) Probably should have had a hamburger. Doubt we will be going back. read more

All dishes were delicious And portions were bigger than expected. So was veggie pizza & tuna tar tar. Went there one time before & had a Peruvian rice dish that was also delicious. Had the best time ever here. First of an amazing atmosphere! The Dining area was so nice and clean and BIG. The cocktails they offer are also so yummy, really recommend the Strawberry Margarita or the Strawberry Lemongrass Lemonade seriously so delicious. The entrees were HUGE and well worth the prices. My partner ordered the Chicken Alfredo and i ordered the Chicken thai Pasta, both cooked to perfection and had amazing flavor. We ended our night with their famous cinnamon churros and i fully understand why people love to spend dessert time here. not only was it so nicely plated but the flavors of the churros were to die for. was tempted to take another to go and show the rest of my family. The place is very nice in the inside and outside . They have outside seating as well which is also very nice. The owner/chief is amazing, great hospitality from owner and staff. Now the food wasn't good...it was outstanding!!! everything that we ordered was delicious. We had the tuna tartar which we shared because it was larger, good for two and then I had the the filet mignon and my wife had the skirt steak and they were both very delicious, temp on both were perfect. Then came dessert and that also was on point the chocolate lava cake was outstanding and my wife had the america cheese cake and that was also very delicious. This place is a hitten gem because it is away from main street in a neighborhood setting but it is worth the drive to get these delicious and perfectly prepared steaks without having to drive to NJ to a famous steak house which the bill will be so much higher. The prices at GIO's was very reasonable. Great place great food. You must try it and write about your experience, you will not be disappointed.
