Something has changed at Mount Vernon marketplace. My friend and I walked through there recently and I haven't stopped in since 2021? I first went to the market in 2018. The Local Oyster was a huge draw (now they are completely out of business). There are still some food stalls like the ramen and Korean shop, and a new seasonal/holiday store, but it looks quite empty. Mount Vernon marketplace is a staple food hall so I hope they bounce back because the city needs it. I used to bring visitors to this marketplace and it's such a great stop for all the other activities in the area. read more

This is a wonderful food and gifts market located in the heart of Mt. Vernon. It is within easy walking distance of the art museum, monument, and other attractions. This is a great pit spot alongside the Light Rail stop if you want to pop in and grab food. The staff working the various food stalls are so kind and welcoming, truly the Baltimorean charm! I discovered this smaller food hall only because I was looking for Slurpin Ramen. They moved here from their Clarksville location. You would miss it if you weren't looking for it as it is on the ground floor of an apartment building and doesn't really have any overly visible signage. A good variety of spots. Burger, Ramen (Slurpin), Oysters (Local Oyster), Pizza, Grilled Cheese/Hot Dogs, Beer Tap Station (with a good selection of drafts to sample), Mexican, Dumplings and BBQ. Slurping Ramen is a favorite and I've had Beer at the Local Oyster. Their Oyster Stout is pretty good. Mix of seating throughout and a good amount of space so easy to move around and explore the different stands. Parking is mainly street or nearby garage. Service has been friendly and upbeat. A good variety and something for everyone here. read more

This is one of several marketplaces around Baltimore. As it was my first time visiting one, I was surprised to learn it's a collection of VERY good) restaurants, and not a grocery type place at all. I had oysters and then I had some amazing bacon on a skewer. They also have a small family owned/created jewelry store. The food was amazing and the atmosphere friendly. Came here to see what all the hoopla was about. This venue is located in a nondescript area of downtown Bmore and you would miss it if you didn't know it was there. Upon entering, we were met with a plethora of various food, drink, and specialty food stalls. We tried the Mexcian food stall and it was just okay. The smoothie stall was okay too. As we were pressed for time, we will be back to explore the other food and drink option they had to offer. FYI: parking can be an issue as we found a metered parking spot within walking distance. This place sounds great but in all actuality it's dead with only a few venues open. Maybe at some point in the past all the restaurants they mention there were open but no more. Fortunately we found a great place nearby to eat called Buttonwood. Loved their food and decor. read more

Super cute market in the historical district with tons of options. Went with a large party and was perfect as there were so many options and lots of seating. Super cute aesthetic location and customized to each venue. Was able to get fried dumplings, fresh squeeze orange crush, and then finally hit up the bar for a mixed drink. It does not matter if you don't know what you want, have multiple people with you that are confused on their decision, or - like me and my boyfriend - you want something of everything - this is a great place. It's a true vendor building full of options from vegetarian options to the fattest double cheeseburger you could find. Pictured are the oysters - and believe the Maryland girl or not, this was my first time trying them. And WOW - they were great. With some hot sauce and provided lemon, I loved them. And for those interested, I believe 6 ran me about $15. Don't know if that's a good or bad price. But other foods tried include pizza, an avocado cheeseburger AND bbq pulled jerk chicken egg rolls. I stopped in for a burger at Munchin Burgers with my partner for a low key study session. We didn't know exactly what we wanted when walking to the Marketplace but my partner suggested this burger place that he's eaten at before. There's seating all over the market but my partner and I sat at the counter and stools in front of the restaurant. Truly this was the best decision. We each got a milkshake, one chocolate and one strawberry and they're both amazing. I love strawberry milkshakes but I don't care for vanilla so I was taking a chance on this not being great. (If the strawberry is too weak, vanilla can really shine through) but I'm impressed, it's a hella thick, delicious shake and the strawberry flavor was on point. Chocolate is my favorite and it was probably the best shake I've had in a long time. The fries at Munchin are shoe string fries and made really well (and who doesn't love a well prepared potato?) Salted and hot these were hella tasty. I think the only thing I didn't care for was the Cilantro Lime sauce we got on the side for the fries. It tasted ok but had a slight sweetness to it that I didn't love. It didn't matter though as the fries stood out on their own. For my burger I ordered the special on the chalkboard, the Pineapple Burger. Hands down, this is the *best* burger I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection and the flavors of all the added toppings were so distinct and harmonious. My mouth had a full on flavor parade. I highly recommend this place for anyone who loves a good burger. read more

The chicken wings from Cheezy Mike's (I got the "nuclear") are some of the best chicken wings I've had, they were so flavorful, crispy, not fatty, and a super yummy level of spice (very spicy, but not distracting!). I saw them on Instagram, wanted to try them, and they did not disappoint. They actually look just like the pictures, which is kind of miraculous. I definitely want to go back and try their other menu items (mac and cheese pie??). I also think that the fries from the burger place here are some of my favorite fries in the city--I think you can never go wrong with garlic mayo. I crave them all the time. I love this place because everyone can get what they want, and everyone leaves full and happy. You can mix and match multiple sides/apps from different places (fries, dumplings, tacos) and have a feast. Mt. Vernon Marketplace is one of my favorite marketplaces in the city! What's not to like about the Mount Vernon Market? Walk in and be greeted by the wonderful smells from so many different food stalls. I still like that they have this marketplace here as it's a nice spot to eat when you're feeling indecisive. they had a wide variety of food from korean food to burgers. there were a good amount of tables and seats and on a Tuesday evening when I went, it was not crowded at all! I go back and forth about my favorite markets in the city depending on the day, but I know Mt Vernon is one of 'em. Visited a number of times between openings, takeout only restrictions and re-openings and it's good to see it once again growing lively, with folks patronizing the various vendors and music bumpin. I did want to update to note that the same covid safety restrictions in place before don't seem to be AS in place as before. No longer see a security guard doing temp checks at the door, but saw socially distanced seating, curbside options and hand sanitizer throughout. read more

If you're looking for a place where you can try different dishes/restaurants to suite you palate then this is the place for you. I tried about 3 different places and even though some where better than others, I truly enjoyed having the options. read more

We got two burgers and one side of truffle mac and cheese! The truffle mac and cheese was a big portion for the price. I kind of wish there was a little bit more truffle flavor but it's expensive so I get it! It was still good overall, I love when mac and cheese is baked and this was! I ordered the pork belly burger and it was so good, the pork belly was so tender and with the egg on top, if you read my other reviews I love runny eggs. I dont remember what other burger we ordered but it was really good! Cooked to what we had asked, juicy, flavorful, cant complain! This is like a hipster food court, complete with a craft beer bar, all kinds of Asian, seafood, and Mexican cuisines to choose from. I had some of the best ramen of my life, shrimp tempura ramen which had a tanginess to it reminiscent of Tom yum soup. Highly recommend if you're in the neighborhood. Bottom Line: Fancy food court catering to a variety of pallets in a historic building. All cool big cities need a "market" which basically resembles an upscale food court featuring various eclectic small businesses. In Bal'mor, Mount Vernon Marketplace is it. I finally made it here on a Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I walked into leftover food, trays, trash and glasses from the day/night before. That was a turnoff but we looked the other way and marched around the market eyeing up the various stalls and admiring the chalk art. We enjoyed lunch at The Local Oyster and I will review them separately on their page. We also got donuts to go at Pinch. They were pretty and tasty but not worth the $2.50 each price tag. Despite just an "a-ok" experience on my inagural visit, I would definitely return to Mount Vernon Marketplace to try Cholita's Tacos. The menu looked yummy and the prices seemed reasonable. I am also curious about Between 2 Buns and the sandwiches at Culture. I would return to The Local Oyster as well. I did not see a pizza place so I think that could be a nice addition. I'm fascinated with American industrial stuff but I think the atmosphere here is a little too industrial and cold. Some vendors have decorated nicely but I think more interest is needed in most of the building. Signs, lights, artifacts in the rafters would be nice. It would also be nice if there is something that talks about the history of the building. Perhaps there was and I overlooked it. I was not familiar with the history of this building which is marked "Hochschild Kohn" on the side. (Hutzlers, yes, Hochschild, no.) Come to find out, Hochschild Kohn was a large department store in Bal'mor and this was their warehouse. I thought I caught glimpses of what looked like a receiving/shipping dock but I did not further inspect the historic, 80 year old building. There is parking in the area including an adjacent lot so that is nice. We were lucky to get street parking. The bathroom is nice but should have been cleaner at 11am (opening time) on a Sunday. I guess I missed a roaring party Saturday night! There are other great places to explore in the neighborhood if you want to walk off your meal - the original Washington Monument, Maryland Historical Society and the Walters Art Gallery, to name a few. read more

You want variety? You got Variety (note the capital 'V')! My daughter works nearby and had heard good things about MVM from co-workers, so I took her there for her birthday lunch. I won't tell you how old she is, but she's starting to push 40 pretty hard ;) First of all, this place is gigantic! And if you can't find something you like to eat here, go home. There really is everything for every palate! We wandered quite a bit, just to get the lay of the land. She kept being drawn back to the kombucha bar (Taps Fill Station) so we sat down there to decide where to buy food. She liked her peach-mango kombucha very much, and I enjoyed a black cherry hard cider that was very refreshing. Eventually, she chose to eat at Cultured charcuterie, so we settled our drinks with her and I went around to Mr. Souvlaki's Greek booth. Here's the thing that is so great about MVM: you could go with a group, and everyone can eat and drink whatever they like. As the bartender at Taps told me, "We are a non-competitive venue, so you can take your drink anywhere in here. Take your food anywhere. It's all good." When I asked about their glasses, she said they would make their way back to her. How cool is that?!? The food: My gyro was amazing. I can't even. I watched the cook carve strips from their traditional, upright spit and assemble my beautiful gyro right in front of me. I also chose to buy a pre-packaged portion of baklava (which I had to eat at home, later, but which was delish!) My daughter's charcuterie tray was beyond exceptional. She chose the 3-item tray, which means 3 meats/cheeses, but which comes with a small taste of numerous other items: peppers, pickles, olives, etc., as well as crackers and small sourdough rounds. To say this was a gastronomical delight is an understatement. I don't go into Baltimore often, but I suggested to her that we should make the MVM a monthly date. She heartily agreed!! Such a wonderful gem to find! Tried B2B burgers. I had scorching B burger, basically spicy!! I love spicy food and this hit the spot. It's definitely sloppy, so if you're on a first date.. don't do it. It was delish though. Avocado on point, soft fluffy buns and turkey patty! I changed mine to turkey patty and it was savory/juicy. The slaw was mediocre. Too much carrots and I wanted some crunch. Maybe the dressing was too heavy and made the vegetables more soggy.. unsure. But I finished the burger! I think Mount Vernon marketplace is one of the better food halls directly in Baltimore. There are so many great options to choose from and there really is something for everybody. MV marketplace is a staple in the MV area and the best fall back plan for anyone who wants to get some good grub. It's definitely the best thought out and implemented of all of the other marketplaces in Baltimore due to the variety of food available as well as the seating options. This is the best option when you especially have a large group of people as they have ample seating and everyone can pick and choose the kind of food that they want to eat, ranging from tacos, Korean bibimbap, gyros, pasta, sandwiches, ramen, burgers, seafood, and smoothies. I love their tacos and the range of healthy options they provide for people who aren't looking to add inches to the waistline and love their bar (taps) which offers a great variety of beer on tap!! The only con that I have to mention is that they have no dessert here/no decent desert place in MV So it would be awesome if they added an ice cream or cake spot inside the marketplace as well! read more

This is an excellent place to eat, work, or meet a friend. Most people that I know in this area don't even know about MVM. It was refreshing and reminded me of Philadelphia's reading terminal. You can find about 7-10 fast causal restaurants in this facility. They also have a few shopping options and many places to sit and relax. A few food options were: A seafood place Noodle place Sandwich place Burger spot (between two buns) An Indian bowl spot And much more... Pretty good selection of cuisines available at this busy food court in the middle of the Mount Vernon Cultural District. I opted for some yummy pizza at Al Volo, and some putine with smoked duck breast at Between 2 Buns (after a long wait). Although I wasn't wowed by the latter, I'd definitely return to the food court, because there are lots of additional options to choose from. Quality-wise, this is more a 3.5 stars place. It's my go to spot for dates, a quick lunch, a long lunch, hooking up with my friends outside, trying something new, getting a drink, etc. There are a variety of options. It's a very laid-back environment with great seating. I definitely prefer this to Lexington market and R House, more space than Broadway Market, smells better than Cross St. VISIT MVMP TODAY--it's great :-) -my faves are Brown Rice, B2B, and the Indian food stand. I travel a lot, and I've been to a lot of markets with vendors and restaurants in the last few years. Some can be a little underwhelming (too crowded or no where to eat the food you bought or bad vendors), but I was really impressed by Mount Vernon Marketplace! While it wasn't huge, it had a lot of options to choose from. When I visited, I hit up three different spots: The Local Oyster for oysters, AJ's for a whitefish salad sandwich on rye, and Brown Rice for sake. And I would have checked out even more spots if my stomach had any room! I was there on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't crowded and there plenty of places to sit. It's walking distance to/from a lot of Mount Vernon tourist attractions (Maryland Historical Society, Washington Monument, George Peabody Library, the Walters Art Museum, etc.), so it's a great place to stop for lunch during a day of exploring! First and foremost: I ab.so.lute.ly HATE the way my clothes smelll when I leave here. Other than that, there are a wide range of options that suits various dietary needs. My fav location is the Mexican restaurant. The beef burrito (spinach rice) is a great. The guacamole is a little spicy if that's your thing but I do like the chips and guacamole. The Rose Sangria is great. Overall, it's a good space. You have to walk around a time or 2 to make sure you've seen all they have to offer though. I've gone to study, just grab a bite, hang with friends, grab a drink - it's pretty good space for groups and a quick bite. I've decided to walk here Plenty of times instead of cooking or ordering food for delivery. Cultured has a good selections of wines and cocktails. Mount Vernon Marketplace is an absolute gem for the neighborhood. It has a bunch of food stalls, several drink options, and multiple healthy options. We absolutely love The Local Oyster, Cheezy Mike's, Mr. Nice Pie, Pinch Dumplings, Cholita's Tacos, and Slurpin' Ramen! We haven't tried FishNet yet, but it looks awesome! Brown Rice is a solid option, though I have been "low carb" for a while now, so I haven't been able to enjoy it recently. Other spots open up regularly, and unfortunately sometimes close, but there is always a really great variety! Taps Fill Station and Centre Bar keep you hydrated (though many of the other vendors also have bar options!) The Local Oyster makes their own Bloody Mary mix, and it is AMAZING! They also make a fresh Arnold Palmer and Lemonade, which the kids absolutely slurp down in a matter of seconds. Can't recommend MV Marketplace enough! read more

Great food court with lots of solid options. I've been here many times to various places from pizza to tacos to Korean and never had a bad meal. There's something for everyone here which is why it often gets fairly crowded during peak hours. The only downside is that when it gets crowded it can be incredibly loud and can be difficult to have a conversation without shouting. However if you need to escape the noise it's easy to get carry-out and there's plenty of places within a few blocks to sit and eat outside. read more

All the food options are diverse and delicious AND there are multiple bars and shops selling alcohol, so it has a "get comfortable and hang out for a while" compared to other food court style markets.
