Our cabin was double-booked by this company and we got screwed out of a trip we had booked 5 months in advance My mother-in-law booked a cabin through this rental company in July, well in advance for our trip in December. Our trip is approaching this weekend but she noticed they hadn't charged the remaining balance to her card, so she called to confirm. The person she spoke to informed her that the dates were changed because they "have it on record that she had called and rescheduled" (which she never did). Basically, if my mother-in-law never noticed her card wasn't charged for the remaining balance and if she never called to confirm... we would have just shown up for our trip and not had a place to stay after a 3-hour drive. The company was rude and did nothing to resolve the issue, and simply told her that "what happened happened, and there was nothing they could do." The only other property they had available was a house in a neighborhood that wasn't pet-friendly (we would be bringing our 2 dogs). Not to mention we rented a cabin for the views and the cabin experience... We ended up getting our money back and by the grace of God were able to find another cabin available through a different rental company, which is hard to believe because this is one of the busiest times of year with hardly any cabin availability last-minute. Beyond frustrated with how they treated this situation, especially during the holiday season when we booked this back in July. I would definitely STEAR CLEAR. read more

We used a Groupon as a way of introducing ourselves to a company that hopefully we could use in the future. I was very clear that the main priority was the view. I can't believe how disappointing this was. If it had not been for the fact we spent most of the day in the Smoky Mt Park, I don't know that I could've brought myself to even walk in the cabin. Trashy view with trashy neighbors. The cabin itself was fine. The mini blind fell off the only window without a trashy view but was covered with opaque full size glass cover; and the smell of Febreze was overwelming ! This makes the 14th time we have rented a cabin in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge over the last few years. Our cabin this time was the cleanest cabin we've ever stayed in. It was spotless! Other cabin rental companies should take note. We have never rented from Mountain Air or Alpine Chalets, but we are very pleased. Disappointing. We rented the Smokey mountain memories cabin from 1/17/19-1/20/19. We thought we had a great cabin for a great price. After checking in & walking into the cabin, we were sadly mistaking. 1st the cabin was not clean, when we were informed that it was ready. So we called & they sent someone there to clean. We were told we would have to leave in order for it to be cleaned. We have just drove 6 hrs & wanted to relax & we could not do so. 2nd when we went to cook dinner that night, all the dishes in the cabinets were filthy. In the window of the kitchen, there was a sign that stated customer would be charged if dirty dishes were put into cabinets. Obviously they do not check. 3rd the cabin needs remodeling. All the doors get stuck & are hard to get in & out of. We enjoyed our trip but definitely wish we would have chosen a different cabin. read more

When we called customer service they sent maintenance who told us these things were broken but never came back to fix! Believe all the bad reviews about this company. ITS TRUE! My mom and her brother & his wife just checked out of 4595 Wilderness Plateau. I chose the cabin for them, but my mom paid for the three nights rental. I went up on Tuesday to spend the day with them and I was very disappointed in the condition of the cabin. One of the lights going up the stairs did not work, many of the blinds were missing pieces, the sliding doors would not lock and the handles were loose, my aunt and uncle's mattress was stained, the cabin had a musty smell as you walked in the door, the sofa did not convert into a bed as advertised, there was food with bugs on it in one of the dresser drawers, two lamps in the bedrooms did not work, my uncle had to tighten hardware on the toilet seats, the microwave was too small to even pop a bag of popcorn in, and my aunt said the tubs were dangerously slippery. They said they were not able to get in touch with anyone by phone...even the emergency number...to discuss the condition of the cabin. I was terribly embarrassed that I had chosen this cabin for their trip. read more

The quote I initially recieved was different than the one I received prior to reservation. And when I explained to mgr she went off and hang up on me. I called this company in Nov of 2018 to get the cost for the Wilderness cabin. I spoke with a Jessica (?) and she told me the cabin was $1275 per night. I called back a week later and spoke with spvr Gina. She states the same and provided additional information. She sated the cabin had to be rented atleast 3 nights and the cost was $3825 for those 3 nights. Deposit was $2587.5 with a $500 refundable as long as no damage is done to cabin. I called back in Jan 2019 to see if the price had or would change prior to the reservation in April. Gina advised the price had not changed and unless the owner decides to change it prior to the reservation it shouldn't change. She assured it wouldn't go up like airline tickets (the closer to the date of pay the price goes up). I contacted this facility 3 times because I am a Certified Event Planner. My word is my business and my advertisment. So once I was comfortable with the quote price, I created the package for my client and family. Once they paid I went to reserve the cabin and was told that the cost for the cabin was not $3825 but over $5000. BIG DIFFERENCE. When I explained to svr Gina that I was given a different quote and I called on more than one occassion, her response is, "It sounds like I am calling her a lie because she never told me I'd pay $3825. And because of the tone in my voince she was hanging up." I then called back to get her managers name and she said she was the manager. I was finally able to contact her manager (and owner) Renee. She stated Gina was a sweet girl and she told her employees to take up for themselves. So I am under the impression that this behavior and business practice is acceptable. Renee said she would call me back to sort things out.. and I never received a call from her. Instead I received a call from her secretary Jessica (?) offering $100 off of the $5000. This situation put me in a horrible possition with my client. Not to mention, the customer service provided was awful, dispiceble and unheard of. I can think of serveral reasons as to why this may have taken place one being that this cabin may not wanted to assist my client due to thier ethnicity. I would hope that's not it but I'm wondering why they would hike the cost of the rental up once I was ready to pay. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service and I will ensure that I nor any of my colleagues ever rent from these people. read more

Best Pleasures. No. Rickety, dirty, not maintained. Sheets dirty. Bedspread not changed. Utensils dirty. Dishes dirty. Torn, nasty rug in living room, baby kept tripping on it. Living room floors scratched like someone had taken a knife to it. Outside table and chairs on porch dirty and look like never cleaned. During covid too. Was on the phone with these people more time than we could actually enjoy the visit. Pool table about falling over. Nothing worked. Called maintenance. Who was there when we checked in fixing something. Lights aren't regularly check nor batteries so bring your own or you will need to call them out. NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING HOUSEKEEPING come out and brought 11 year old child to interpret. Oh and dirty wet towel left on bed when we got there. Housekeeping tells us "no, no they not change bedspreads. Maintenance does that. They not allowed. So they put dirty bedspread on clean sheets? But sheets seemed dirty too not crisp and clean. NO STEPS to hot tub so short people bring you a stool. Hot tub smelled. Surely not maintained along with everything else. Forks and spoons had pieces of food on it. We had to wash all dishes. AND FOOD LEFT IN PANTRY AND FREEZER. LIKE SOMEONES LEFTOVERS! honestly believe this cabin was not touched before we arrived. Mgmt gave more excuses than fixes. Wouldn't move us, no other cabins available. Bs. Do yourself a favor and stay the hell away. I'd give a minus rating if I could. Their solution? Give me a free night with my next rental --with them! Are they delusional or just crazy? read more

Folks, you better believe these reviews. I haven't even been to our reserved cabin as of yet, but supposed to be there end of July for a week. When I phoned them on 6/14/22, I asked if I could cancel and get a complete refund and was told I could as long as we were outside of the 30-day arrival window which we were and still are. So, our family found a larger cabin with better sleeping arrangements and I called today (6/16) to cancel and was then told I would NOT be getting any refund at all. I asked them to email me their written cancellation policy and they have not done so. The woman said she didn't have it "handy". I looked endlessly on my VRBO website to try to find the cancellation policy and it just is NOT there. That is illegal. No notification that any deadlines were passing....nada. I called VRBO 3 times, and sent 3 separate complaints to them hoping they will do something about this management company and their lack of integrity. DO NOT RENT a cabin from them because not only are the reviews (which I should have checked in advance) apparently truthful, it sounds like there are multiple issues with these cabins as well. Rented a cabin from a Groupon. Breath-taking view and very convenient to Pigeon Forge and all the activities. Only reason it gets four instead of five stars is that there were quite a few burned out or missing light bulbs throughout the cabin. We stayed in "Hillbilly Hilton" up a wind-y and scary mountain road, but totally worth the drive up the mountain. Hot tub and big porches. Two king beds in two bedrooms and a fold out sofa. read more

If I were to rate our experience with Mountain Air Cabin rentals solely based off my most recent trip, I would probably rate below a "1 Star" if it were an option. However, because I have previously stayed with Mountain Air in the past without issue, I am taking that into consideration. The weekend getaway was a Christmas gift to my husband's parents. Because we had used Mountain Air on a previous trip, we had assumed the same would be said for the second. However, unfortunately the cabin was a complete disappointment to my husband and his family. As young adults, it was my husband intent to provide his parents with a luxurious all expenses paid trip to Gatlinburg however, after arriving it left my husband ashamed and embarrassed that this was gifted to them. Of course the main attraction to staying in the Smoky Mountains are the gorgeous views. Unfortunately when our vehicle arrived, the first view we arrived to was dirty clothes on the lower level deck... Guess the complete obvious dirty clothes was overlooked by their cleaning crew. The land directly below our cabin was covered in trash so while looking out onto the mountains were beautiful, the same could not be said for the environment directly around us. Not to mention, the property was in complete disarray with nails, nuts, and bolts lying around due to the construction that was taking place on the property. The inside of the house was below average and disgusting. The blinds were half missing, and some of the ones that were hanging, were torn up at the bottom. Later, some were found underneath the sink in the lower level bathroom? My husband re-hung them up (your welcome). When we originally arrived it was during the day time but later that night when it was time to turn on the lights, most of the lights were unplugged. Even after plugging them in most of them didn't work because the light bulbs were either burned, or they were completely missing. When plugging in the bedroom light, my husband found clothes under the bed as well as the remote- again, must have been overlooked by the cleaning crew. The shower was disgusting and there was hair on the walls. The towels that were provided were extremely cheap quality and essentially disintegrated on your skin as you dried off. The photos on the website were a little misleading. There was a random room in the house that was completely empty? It had a sliding glass door out the hot tub. It was large enough to be a bedroom or office but it was completely empty and I found it bizarre. Not to mention that the hot tub was completely inoperable. However, if you read their terms & conditions, it states that it is inspected after every stay. This obviously wasn't what happened in our case as 1) it was 60 degrees but read 102, and the jets would not work because we continued to receive an error "HL" which my husband researched and turns out that their was an issue with the heat sensor (duh!). There are plenty of rental agencies in the area so I recommend thoroughly researching what fits your needs best as this one fell extremely below our expectations. We booked reservations through mountainaircabins.com. We followed all directions emailed to us. When we arrived to the location per the directions we were given there were 2 cabins. One was occupied and the other was not. So we put our code in the lock and it opened right up. Great we thought....not so. We paid for a washer,dryer, and internet. We had none of those things. However, we did have a slew of mice that came with the cabin free of charge (if you dont count all of the food we paid for and they ate). We arrived on a friday. On saturday we did a day of family sightseeing. We arrived back at our cabin and were met by an angry maintenance man. He proceeded to tell us that we were locked out, the police had been called, and we would not be allowed to retrieve any of our belongings. Now mind you...we booked reservations online, paid in full, followed all of THEIR directions, and had already spent one night in the less the stellar cabin. He was verbally abusive toward us as we tried to explain that we were supposed to be there. He called us squatters and loiterers. Until I proved that I had paid for the vacation we were treated as criminals who drove 7 hours with 4 kids just to "squat" in one of their cabins. My husband and I told him that our code opened the cabin door and he claimed that was a "malfunction." They allowed another group into our cabin and gave us what was left and then tried to throw us out. Gina? and the maintenance man claim no one was in the cabin next door to us but the occupants were partying like it was 1999 and also played music from that era. We know this because our kids couldn't go to sleep because the sound barrier was being broken by their music. We called to ask if part of our trip would be reimbursed because of their mistakes and were told by GINA (a girl with a nasty personality) that she was not giving is anything because we should have called the office (the office that was closed and left no other method for contacting). This place is a ginormous scam and Gina and her maintenance lackey are crooked. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH MOUNTAIN AIR CABINS AND DEFINITELY DON'T STAY UNLESS YOU BRING YOUR OWN EXTERMINATOR. My family and I just came back from another wonderful visit to the Smokies! We have stayed with Mountain Air Cabin Rentals for the last 3 years, they have an amazing staff and each cabin we've chosen was beautiful! We had one problem with our hot tub not heating during this last visit, we called the office that morning and by the time we got back that afternoon, they had the problem fixed. We were surprised at the quick response, as it was Easter weekend! If you are looking for great service and clean cabins, I would definitely recommend this company! read more

Up until we arrived the ladies in the office were wonderfully attentive, however, once we arrived and had a problem it was like we no longer existed. I chose the most expensive cabin I could find as it appeared to be the nicest and I wanted to be sure everyone in our group was happy and comfortable. The pictures were a bit deceiving as the place was simply worn out. The beds and couches were so bad, the Grandparents and one pregnant in-law were unable to even sit on them as they couldn't get out. The absolute worst bed I have ever slept in- so bad my husband ended up sleeping on the couch. The hot tub was broken and I called 3 times and was told someone was coming to check, they never came. They never left a note, called me back or even apologized. Not once did I call to ask for a refund as I read the small print- I knew that wasn't an option, but to completely ignore a guest who paid over 1000 for a cabin is absolutely wrong. The railings on the 2nd floor balcony were very loose and I wouldn't let me son go out there alone as it was seriously dangerous. River Song Retreat was the cabin. Don't go. Carpets were stained, place was not clean, it was uncomfortable and was worth half the price. Ruined my only short vacation of the year. Couldn't wait to get back home to sleep in my 10 year old bed! read more

These folks are absolutely PHENOMENAL! My family and I have stayed at 3 different cabins in the last 3 years in a row...All have been immaculately cleaned prior to our arrival. Each one has it's own special touch and has always exceeded our expectations. We love to vacation in the mountains during the summer in sunny mid-80's weather, rather than going to bake in the hot sun at the beach. But, one factor that can never be duplicated is Mountain Air Cabin Rentals impeccable customer service! Their staff is so kind and makes you feel just like family. They genuinely want to be helpful to make sure your stay is a memorable one. Honestly, that's one of the primary reasons that I'll never consider staying anywhere else when we're vacationing in the Pigeon Forge/Gatilnburg area. read more

What can I say? First is that Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg is my favorite place of all times. I keep going over and over and the fun never finishes. Great Place to take kids, family or just a romantic getaway. I rented a cabin from this company and they are very professional. I rented a cabin called " All about the view" . It is a one bedroom/ One bath ( 720 sqft). The cabin is all wood inside and out. It is pretty new, constructed in 2006. It is cute and lovely in the inside, it smells good, clean . It comes equipped like the majority of cabins ( just bring your food). There were 2 mayor things I liked about the cabin: 1. The view- It has breath taking view of the mountains and the best part is that you do not have to drive a steep road up a curvy hill to see them. The cabin has a back porch or deck area where the hot tub is located and we could see the mountains from the hot tub just beautiful. 2. Access to the cabin- This is the most important thing for me when going to the Smoky Mountains. The terrain on all this area is with very steep roads, curvy roads that just give you either motion sickness or a heart attack like me because I cannot go up those curvy and steep roads. So , even if I can have the best cabin of all the world with amenities , I do not change that for road access. This cabin is just 4- 5 miles from all the action of Pigeon Forge( The Parkway). It is about 4 miles of a flat road, nothing going up big hills. Then when you arrive to the street address you make a right on a gravel road ( which is only like 0.2 miles) and the cabin is on cul de sac ( where road ends). It is very private.
