If you go down towards the South portion of my body, you'll come across the Mountain Area, but that's a Regional description that you might want to find out for yourself someday. Sadly almost nobody was using the MARTA, which is not in Atlanta and it's not a Brazilian soccer player, although it is both of those things, however it is actually the third largest agency for transport in San Bernardino County, helping people get up and down the mountains and in and out of the little valleys and canyons. This is a useful service then. Basically serving all of Big Bear Valley. Unfortunately the entire service has been suspended until further notice because basically nobody was riding it due to the pandemic and lack of tourism. read more

The Crestline branch is extremely. disorganized. Despite being scheduled for a drop off and pick up at the hospital , The dial a ride left my wife stranded on several occasions. If you try to call the office/dispatch during business hours , you can't leave a message or get a hold of anybody. That means if your left stranded by the bus drivers, your stuck. read more

If I could give a minus star I would. A bus driver almost caused a serious accident. Made a complaint, I hope that driver is reprimanded is some form. Some of these drivers just need to simply slow down and be courteous to other cars on the road, especially when they are transporting passengers. What's the rush??? I will never ride in that transport due to the dangers I see with the way they drive in this mountain community. read more

I have to agree, a couple of the drivers are very RACIST. I work at Summit with the "J1 employees" (foreign students from South America) and the way the drivers speak about them before and after they get on the bus is very rude. Also, FIX THE BLUE LINNNNE‍ I live in Moonridge and have to wait every hour to get to work at Summit Resort. It doesn't make any sense why you can't have two buses running the blue line route when people have to get to work. read more

We had a great trip on the trolley from Moonridge to the Village. App is super convenient to show you where trolleys are. Never had to wait long. Bonus was the driver Paul who was very kind, knowledgeable about the area and willing to share info. The trolley is a great service and the kids loved it. read more

I've been using The Big Bear bus since I moved up here last autumn and I found it to be a reliable and relatively pleasant means of transportation... I've contacted the office several times when I wasn't able to access the ap or website and was always treated respectfully by phone personnel who are willing to help. I've witnessed drivers working together to ensure that riders get to their destinations safely and on time and especially in bad weather .... I'm very grateful for the service. 1 star down because I do wish drivers would slow down. I'm sure riders would rather a bus be a bit late rather than have someone hurt or worse because drivers are speeding. All in all though.... a good value and service to the community read more

I took route 6 from San Bernardino to Lake Arrowhead Village. Or at least that was the plan before I got off the shuttle early because the ride was life-threatening. The driver sped -- and I mean wayyyyy too fast -- up a mountain on a curvy road, skimming cliffs. It was ridiculous. Another rider said she was scared to death. It was like a very scary roller coaster without any of the extra security. Dangerous and completely unnecessary. I took an Uber to my destination who drove like a calm individual who valued his life and we got there in no time. read more

MY ROUTE: I wanted to ride MARTA down the hill from Crestline to the San Bernardino Metrolink station. FINDING THE BUS STOP: Some descriptions on the MARTA site say Goodwins and say Goodwins/7-11. The off-the mountain stop is at the 7-11 by the picnic benches. A MARTA bus comes by the up-the-hill stop across the street about five minutes earlier than the down-the-hill bus. Don't get psyched out like I did. BOARDING THE BUS: When you board the bus the driver will ask you where you're going. If paying a cash fare (no change is given), place the money in a clear box as you enter. THE BUS: The bus has 18 single seats and 2 double seats in the back. For the single seats, there are two seats on either side of the aisle, with 5 rows on the driver's side and 4 rows on the other side. The seats are padded vinyl and there are seat belts. There is a luggage rack with maybe 8" vertical clearance above the seats. THE RIDE: There were 5 passengers and the driver on the 9:05a bus. The ride is stiff; I get motion sick and got a bit queasy. We were supposed to arrive at the train station at 9:34a, but didn't arrive until 9:39a for the 9:50a train. The train ticket machines were problematic, so there was a line for them and with only 10 minutes instead of 15 minutes to get my ticket, I was the last passenger allowed to board the train. Being late almost made me miss my connection. I'm not sure why the bus was late since there were so few passengers. read more

Our church had a bus of children going to Thousand Pines Christian Camp and the bus they were on broke down. I called this bus company and within 10 minutes they had lined up a bus to pick up the kids stranded on the side of the road. The camp ended up sending their own vans to pick up the kids, and we did not end up using Mountain Area Regional Transit, but Joanne had coordinated everything with the supervisor and they were ready to go! They were very concerned and efficient and easy to communicate with! Thank you!! read more

I live in running springs and I commute to big bear 5-6 days a week. To drive back and forth one day is around $7 in gas in my truck. To get from RS to my job in the Village and back home on the bus costs me $16 a day. The bus doesn't even take you into big bear hardly. You have no choice but to take another bus to take you two mins down the street and pay even more money. Another thing is they don't have bus passes for locals who have to go use the bus every day. The fares are over priced and they don't accommodate people who use their service regularly. Bus systems are made to help people who cannot drive. Bus systems are also supposed to be a cheaper alternative from driving to help the environment. This bus company is not here to help the community. The bus company is purley taking advantage of the community by charging locals more then what it costs in gas to get from point a to point b. They have little to no alternative to save money for long term use. This company is a scam if the community and should be investigated. read more

While trying to catch a bus across town they completely blew me off and offered minimal help. Downloaded the app "Doublemap" so I could see when the busses were, and noticed the bus had already passed my part of town. Called to make sure and was greeted by an unenthusiastic, annoyed sounding man who said simply that the bus had already passed and that the last one would be coming around 6:20. I tell him thank you even though I don't understand why the busses were 20 minutes early. Anyway so I start waiting for the next bus, however I check the app again to see that the next bus is already approaching Sugarloaf 40 minutes ahead of schedule. I run all the way from my house to the road the bus stop is on hoping to make it. I see the bus driver, I'm so glad, I made it! I wave my arms, hey, please stop, it'll take a whole five seconds... Nope. Bus driver takes a look at me and keeps on driving. So I'm trapped after the last bus drives right past me. Tourists may not have many issues with the service but for locals this is not a reliable means of transport. (most) employees are just God awful and doing the bare minimum, and could care less about niceties and good customer service. If you want a reliable means of transportation to get you to work on time and stuff just buy a car or pay for some gas for a friend because if you're on time with these people you just got lucky! read more

WHAT A PAIN! I used to attend school down in San Bernardino Valley College but this bus's ridiculous schedule and pricing made it such a hassle. First off the bus makes painfully limited stops. The times for the Crestline-San Bernardino OTM AutoZone stops are at 6:09, 9:24, 3:24pm, and 6:24pm. Only the 9:24 and 3:24 times run on Saturday. The times back from the same stop are 7:40, 10:40, and 7:30. Once again, on;y the middle times run on saturday. Highly inconvenient times. Trying to plan my class schedule around a bus with such odd times was the first warning sign. Wait, You don't have a car and want to get off this mountain on Sunday? Well, you better have someone willing to give you a ride because MARTA sure isn't. Sure, the bus may be on time when it runs the mountain routes but once it reaches San Bernardino expect to be late. I came to accept waiting an extra 30 minutes for the back up the mountain stop at AutoZone. One time it was a full hour late. An extra hour I wasted standing by a bus sign (No benches) that could have been spent on studies. At least once a week the bus's delays cause people to miss trains. Onto the pricing. NO STUDENT DISCOUNTS. So I decided to get one of those little cards that is the same exact pricing as cash. I get down to two hole punches and try to board to get down to class one day. I figure I can finish it with the $2 miraculously in my wallet. No. you can't pay with both a card and cash. Remember how I said I needed to plan my classes around their crummy schedule?Welp, missed most my classes, leaving me with a single class that it wasn't even worth it to waste my $10 on the MARTA ride. C'mon, You're the ONLY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION between Crestline and San Bernardino. Stop treating your daily riders like they don't matter. Put at least one more stop time in the afternoon. RUN THE BUS ON SUNDAY. Just those things would make your riders so much happier. read more

The staff are great when it comes to customer service. My metro rail has been late twice and both times I called to ask if the driver could wait and they filled my request gladly. One day I was late and as I was rushing to get to the bus stop and the bus was coming down the road. The driver recognized me and pulled over to let me get on. The drivers are very understanding and will grant you a stop that is not on the route if it is at all possible. I love this company, they make make my day whenever I have to travel off the mountain. I wish there could be more routes going off the mountain more frequently. Great job guys 5 GOLD stars read more

DO NOT RIDE The Weekend Trolley! It's a waste of your money and your time! They charge $5 a person and we bought 4 of them for our family and 2 friends. My husband and I ride the Saturday trolley first, and we planned our friends joining us on Sunday. But after we took the Saturday trolley, we trashed the other 2 tickets, cause it's really a waste. It's just like an old bus and they took you to nonsense places like hotels, and at a very fast speed and you won't have time to enjoy the so called sceneries. The driver is an old grumpy guy that is not very friendly and even very rude at certain points. My 3 year old son ride with us for free, and when they stopped at a hotel for really really long period, my son went up to front and tried to get the trolley schedule for Sunday, the old man was turning back to him and me, staring at us, and when my son tried to go up and get another one for our friends, the old guy took the rest of schedules away angrily and rudely. So sad they hired someone like this. This was my son's first time to ride a trolley and he was super excited about it for days, never thought it will be ended up like this.
