I can only give this place five stars because that is all yelp allows. However in my heart I give unlimited stars! I have lived here since 2016. And I have never had an issue with the property or the staff. The living environment is quiet, quaint and safe. It is so peaceful here that when I open my windows you can hear the leaves of the trees rustling in the wind it's such a peaceful sound! The grounds, laundry room and pool area are always well kept. It is conveniently located near plenty of amazing food places, schools and shopping centers all in walking distance. Now lets get into the Staff on grounds. First lets rate the manager her name is Monique. Let me tell you about Monique, she is the reason I have felt so pleased with staying here at this property. She makes it easy to come to when you have any issues with your apartment. She really goes out of her way to have the issue resolved in a timely manner. Whether it is on site maintenance or someone she has to call out for everything seems like it is expedited. She seems to take her job and her customer service seriously and handles business with results! I also like how inclusive she is! I am so glad COVID is over because she goes out of her way to plan safe events for our children in this community! For example she has movie nights by the pool and really does it up with snacks and juices and just makes you feel the heart she put into it. I have never lived anywhere else that the property manager does so much for our children. She has halloween contests for costumes and color pages with prizes. She always greets you with a smile when you walk in that office and just really delivers an amazing vibe that I have felt no where else! Now lets talk about the awesome maintenance team! We have Jimmy as the main Maintenance Man here. And Jimmy is nothing short of amazing himself. Jimmy has gone out of his way to respond to calls at all hours of the day or night. I have been locked out of my home at 3 am in the rain, and Jimmy has woken up to help me get inside safely in a rapid manner! I have had numerous things occur in my apartment that needed to be fixed and he always comes quickly and fixes the problem in a flash! He is very professional and never has an uncomfortable presence always personable and down to earth. He never leaves behind a mess and after he's done repairing things I never have to go back and clean up after him. Even during the pandemic he was responding and still going above and beyond! So far so good, I was scared by the reviews but I figure I put up with some of the issues that people reported since the price is good for the location (close to my work) and the apartment look good. But either there is new management or people were exaggerating since I have been very pleased with my experience. The complex is very pet friendly and kids friendly. Most people have one or the other or both (I have a dog), kids do play outside on the afternoons and weekends but after two months I have no complains, they are not destroying things or make too much noise (I keep my window open and still can take a nap with no problem). Also people pick up after their pets and they are very considerate. They have a small pool and a playground that are in very good shape, also so grills that have natural gas provided by complex which to me is great. The upkeep of the common areas is in top shape and the maintenance person is a very nice guy. The apartments are not upscale but they are nice and I can tell they are doing their best to make improvements. They have small patios that is a big plus for me, I have made a nice little garden out there. One negative I found is that there is VERY few parking spots for visitors, but I think is about the same around the area. That been said the lady at the office said that if I have visitors for a few days I could ask her to see if there are any available spots from empty apartments. Hopefully nothing changes but as far as I can tell you this is a very nice place to live. read more

I am a supremely content resident at Mountain Crest. Here are four reasons why: 1) A smooth and delightful move in process (complete with a complimentary little house warming gift, which was entirely unnecessary and so so very charming, a great demonstration of Katheryn's thoughtfulness and above-and-beyond approach to property management). 2) Rapid response to any of the issues I've had (which have not been major issues - e.g. the handle on my toilet broke the other day, I sent Katheryn an email and it was fixed within the hour). 3) The staff is friendly in more than just a surface way - smiles and waves in passing, smiles and chats when I've had time to linger, their disposition makes for a neighborly feel (oh! and speaking of neighbors, mine are great, helpful, courteous). 4) The back-to-school breakfast bash last month - one morning in September Katherine had the front office stocked with coffee and pastries and juices and muffins - such a fun way to brush shoulders with other residents. We, my husband and I, lived here for nearly two years with few complaints regarding management, most of our problems were caused by neighbors and I won't dock several stars from the complex for that. During our first year the manager changed, we didn't spend enough time under the previous manager to say whether or not she was adequate. During our time here the management and maintenance were always quick to respond to needed maintenance and fixes. Neighbor complaints regarding violations of the law were also addressed (though unfortunately not always solved). The apartment (1b, 1b, w/balcony) was large and spacious and we overall enjoyed our time living here especially considering they are very affordable. They're not super high end but they're not ghetto either-for is they were a stepping stone until we bought our condo. One of the biggest pet peeves living here is the lack of visitor parking. It is a huge inconvenience. Also, homeless people were always going through the garbage in the morning; but our car was never broken into as other people said they had experienced. I would recommend Mountain Crest to someone looking for a budget apartment that is nice. Oh, also for our move out...we got most of our deposit back including our ENTIRE pet deposit. People can complain all they want about. It getting deposits back but it all hangs on how good you take care of your home. And when we received our check it had a clear breakdown of all the final charges. read more

I have been here now for 6 months and it has been a great experience so far. I have great neighbors and my apartment is so spacious for the price. The parking is a bit hard but everytime I reach out to manager she will try to accommodate me if possible. I've also put in a few minor request and maintenance had been on top of it and gets it done. I love these apartments! My husband, daughter, and I moved here in January. The apartment itself is lovely. We have a 1 room plus den (which is pretty much a second room without a door). It comes with a outdoor patio. The management is amazing. Monique is always quick to respond to any issue that we may have. The complex is safe and very clean. I love that there is a pool and a playground for our daughter to play on. I would recommend this complex to anyone who wants to live in a safe, spacious, family friendly apartment! read more

My husband and I moved here in August and even though it's our first apartment, it was love at first sight. Automatically, we felt at ease with the manager, Katheryn, and the community as a whole felt warm and inviting. Aside from the price range, the manager was the main reason we decided to choose this complex. Our move in process was easy and we were very thankful and appreciative of that since our move was almost a two hour drive from our previous residence. Every issue we've had, whether it's maintenance or pest control, has been promptly addressed and the staff are always smiling. The grounds staff are always waving and following up on any work orders that they've addressed... I've noticed some other reviews that were negative because of the previous manager's poor customer service but don't let those reviews discourage you from taking a look at the property. Update : They take all of your deposit for ridiculous fees like replacing the carpet, which was not new when i moved in, i was told that it had just been deep cleaned. Scum bags. I moved to Upland into the Mountain Crest Apartments sight unseen from Chicago. Needless to say, I was a little bit worried. But as soon as I arrived all of my unease was put to rest. Kathryn helped me speedily through the paperwork and I had my keys within an hour, along with a complimentary house warming gift! And the apartment was completely beautiful with new floors, new carpet and new paint. It felt like home right away and has continued to feel more and more like home every day. Our neighbors are delightful and the community is charming. I feel lucky to have found Mountain Crest for my first California home! read more

My boyfriend and I have been looking for apartments in the Upland/Montclair area. We saw Mountain Crest online and thought it was nice, but we wanted to see it in person. I called on a Friday morning to ask if we could come in and take a look at a 2 bedroom unit. The manager was delightful and told me that she was available before 12 or after 1:30 because of a lunch break. Okay, not a problem at all. We show up at 1:35 to see a "Will Return At" sign that said 2 pm, when originally I was told 1:30. So we waited around until after 2 pm. Still no sign of any management. We called the office a few times, no answer. I found this extremely unprofessional. Why tell someone 1:30 when in reality it was more like 2:15-2:30? Complete waste of our time. read more

I am so dissatisfied with Mountain Crest, I don't know where to begin. I lived there from 2010 to 2014 and to be honest, I regret living there that long. I said nothing when my neighbor had loud yappy dogs that wouldn't shut up for three and a half years. I stood up for management when a murderer was hiding out at the complex and people were displaced an entire day while LAPD, SBCS and SWAT figured out how to get the guy out of the apartment. I said very little when another neighbor literally went bat sh!t crazy, punched a hole through his FRONT door, and then covered the massive hole with Christmas wrapping paper. Didn't say much about my car being broken into on a consistent basis because I suspect the towing company circling the premises at all hours of the night did it (no Windows were ever broken and my car had manual locks). Didn't say too much about people smoking weed in the parking lot near the dumptsters. Didn't complain when I asked for my countertops to be replaced because they were peeling and was told no, it's not in the budget. I'm pretty sure the bum that gathers cans every morning was close to asking for my number...why not since you already know where I live? I do have a major problem with charging me $1300 upon my move out and refusing to send my bill to me and then turning the bill over to a law firm who also claimed they would send the itemized bill but never did and then put the charge on my credit report. I said I'll be happy to pay but I need to see the itemized bill. Send me a bill that shows where my deposit went. Send me a bill that shows me what was beyond wear and tear for four years. So to add insult to injury, this place sucks AND I assure you that not only can you kiss your deposit goodbye, you can forget about getting a reasonable explanation as to where your deposit went to and why. This place is wonderful. When my fiance and I found this place we fell in love. And I admit it was a challenge to get a unit here. And I see why now. The second one would go on the market you had an average of about 20 hours to secure it if you wanted it because these places are in such high demand. They are affordable....check....location is great....check.....The units are spacious and hold a very comfortable floor plan....check.....Management is on point.....CHECK!!! Needless to say we finally got a unit here and just moved in. The manager was so helpful throughout the entire process. If I called her or emailed her I had a response within 30 minutes or as soon as business hours started. That was impressive especially given that she juggles 2 different properties throughout her days. So I have to give an A+ for her. The community is awesome as well. Everyone seems very down to earth and friendly. The place is clean and quiet. The location really can't be beat. You are close to everything. Malls, restaurants, essentials shopping, movies and excellent freeway access. You aren't so close that you hear the cars whizzing by but not so far as it's a 5 to 10 minutes trek to just get on the freeway. The amenities are perfect. It's summertime now and the pool is right outside our door. It's got a place for the kids on the other end of the complex which is very well kept. I noticed some of the other reviews complain about noises from kids. And honestly, unless my door is open I don't hear them. So I think those reviews came from some grumpy people. Kids are kids, you live in an apartment complex the kids gotta play somewhere. And trust me from previous places I lived I would much rather have kids riding scooters or playing ball then what else could be loitering around your complex. Just the fact that the kids are out and about playing with each other speaks for itself about the safe environment management has built here. All in all we love it. We love the apartment, we love the community, we love the management. I would recommend this place to anyone. Reviews in the past I promise you people should stay in the past. If it really did have issues, well there is a new sheriff in town and she's got the place running great. Oh and the maintenance staff is awesome too very easy going people. Make your home here and you'll be happy I swear. The only change we might make is later down the line to possibly move to one of the larger units. But trust me, even the smaller units are well thought out and create a spacious comfortable environment. read more

I've never left any reviews here before but if this will help at least one person it will be well worth it! I lived at mountain crest in 2009-2011 and it was horrible. As someone else mentioned, it's very noisy as the walls are paper thin and you hear everyone walking by. At first I figured this is to be expected living in apartments so I learned to deal with it. The longer I lived there the worse things got as we were receiving water shut off notices several times a month and they made changes to the parking rules so if you didn't have a permit or was not parked in the right place, Marci would have your car towed in a heartbeat. There were future resident parking and visitor parking out in front of the gate and there was a time when my sister came to visit me and accidentally parked in the future resident spot. Within minutes her car was towed. This brought on a huge argument between us and Marci and she claims she did not call the towing company but she is as bad a liar than she is a manager. My mom came to visit me and while waiting in front of the gate for me to come out and let her in, Marci approached her and questioned her...what she was doing there, who she was there to see, what unit do I live in, etc. it made my mom so uncomfortable she preferred not to come over anymore. When my boyfriend decided to move in with me, we added him to the rental agreement but Marci would not give us a 2nd gate opener. We each have a car, shouldn't we each have one? Other gated complexes I have lived in offer at least two. She said we can have a 2nd opener for $50 which was Non Refundable! We decided against a 2nd opener so we did the whole pick up the phone to say "let me in" so one of us was always going downstairs to open the gate for the other. And of course while you're waiting at the gate to be let in, here come parking patrol (Marci) coming to harass you. I started to feel as though I was in a prison. Who wants to live like that! I finally decided it was time to look elsewhere and like someone else mentioned you would think that by simply moving out you would be done with them...NOPE. Not only did they keep my entire security deposit even though I took the time to clean the unit from top to bottom, they hit me with a $2000 bill. One would think I must have destroyed the unit to have been charged with such an outrageous amount. I have pictures of the unit to show otherwise. I may have left a few stains in the carpet that I couldn't get out and the glaze or paint in the tub started to peel off where I has a bath mat. If I didn't put a mat I may have broke my neck stepping into that shower as it was way too slippery. I had a friend that lived across from me who moved out a few months before me. Same thing happened to her and they replaced her countertops claiming she ruined them and of course sent her the bill. They were cheap ass counter tops to begin with but replaced them with granite looking counters. Given her experience, I made sure to take several pictures of my countertops and during the walk thru I even asked Marci how my countertops were, she said they were fine. Yet I couldn't help but notice the countertops in the unit I lived in are also new, granite looking. While I of course requested copies of the receipts and invoices to show proof of repairs, I had to leave numerous messages with Anchor Pacifica to ask for them. They never call you back! I finally received a call back from them stating they will send the receipts to me but after a few weeks went by and nothing, I tried again and again but never heard back from them. Months went by and I grew so frustrated that I gave up. Out of the blue, just last year a collections attorney reached out to me in attempts of collecting the $2000 from me. I explained to him why I haven't paid a cent to anchor and they conveniently sent him all off the receipts to pass on to me. Lo and behold...a receipt for kitchen countertops! There was an email from an Anchor employee stating they originally charged me $250 for reglazing the tub but the actual receipt shows it was only $200 and in this email she stated they were willing to take less than half the original amount instead of the full $2k. So not only are all of the numbers incorrect, they were quick to drop the amount which only shows me this company is crooked. I still have not paid them anything because I disagree with the charges. It is now a collection mark on my once excellent credit report. Two years after leaving mountain crest, I'm still trying to dispute this charge. Such a freaking nightmare. I know this is long and I may also be venting about this terrible experience but I want to give as many details I can to do others a favor. I regret moving here and I would beg for others thinking of living here to keep searching. read more

Ok so I definitely had a change of heart when it comes to this place!! I must have been lucky the first time around because my second time started off good but took a turn for the worse! I absolutely love the location of these apartments, but that's about it. Towards the end of summer 2014, they claimed that they had new owners and increased my rent by $75, so in 2 years, rent had gone up by more than $200. So I was thinking that we were going to get more amenities or something to show for this increase, of course I was wrong. Also, around that same time, the laundry room got roach infested and up until I moved out in December 2015, they had not got rid of them!! Considering that rent was fairly cheap for the size of the apartments and location, I was accepting the thin walls (mainly because I was on the corner so I didn't have neighbors all around me), the loud kids playing outside, and the fact that each time one of the kids ran outside of my apartment it felt like an earthquake! I'm not going to lie, it was very annoying because peace of mind is not always guaranteed in those apartments. It was also very annoying that people liked to just hang out and sit on the stairs so you would have to walk over or around people when you were trying to get up or down. But the fact that they did not get rid of the roaches grossed me out to no extent and I was so extremely uncomfortable that I couldn't wait until I could move out of there. Oh and outside of the roaches, doing laundry was a nightmare! There aren't enough washers and dryers and people will take your load out and dump it on top of the washer/dryer if you are even just 5 mins late! And the machine to reload you laundry card was almost always broken, so if you needed to wash and didn't have money on your card, you were just out of luck! And good luck getting a hold of someone in the office because 9 times out of 10, they didn't answer the phone and weren't in the office. Also, parking turned into a nightmare. Especially because now they have tow trucks randomly circling the complex so if you park you car on the side to carry up groceries they will have your car on the hook by the time you walk back down and charge you a dropping fee of $140! I never had any issues with my car getting vandalized but I did hear that a lot of people got their cars broken into, despite the security cameras. If despite these reviews, you're still considering moving in there, ask for an apartment on the second floor on the south side because the side where the pool is very very loud. P.S. If you prescribe to the Sunday paper or any news paper that they drop by your door, unsubscribe because my neighbors used to steal my news paper from my doorstep! -_- read more

STAY AWAY!! ! Some tenants are having a HUGE party in the commons right now. Overflowing into the apartments. There is an entire mariachi band with amplifiers!! Some guest have ankle bracelets, (Parole) and most of them are smoking pot and drinking while kids are around. It is 10PM right now and the party is 3 hours deep and we cannot get ahold of anyone! Its a school night and my kids need to sleep but of course we cannot even hear our own TV let alone sleep. Unreal!! Stay AWAY! this is not the first problem I have had by far but this is too much. We now live in a slum. The manager is nice but over worked so we always have to police ourselves when something goes wrong. which sucks when u are dealing with these people read more

The new manager, Monique is great but they will try and scam you out of your deposit and much more. They use the cheapest materials possible and when they get slightly damaged they don't understand wear and tear.
