Welcome to west Fifth where you pay well over $2500 to live in a broken run down facility. Something broken call your friendly leasing office with a rotating roaster of staff. Never expect to speak with the same person 2x. Make a complaint might as well pray that it gets fixed because chances are it won't. Also be prepared for constant "emergency water shut offs". In November alone I think our water got shut off 3-4x but you still pay full price for it. Also flooding when it rains. I have made multiple communications about the rain gutters having a hole and flooding to which they told me oh they are clogged. I spoke with Carolina, Kevin, Sabrina, and Monique and no resolution. That doesn't even make sense they need to fix the hole. The flooding broke my ring camera which I shouldn't be responsible to buy a new one for their negligence. Also my front door won't lock and must be literally kicked in to be opened. When I requested a new one they said no and we must wait until the water is dried up. Walls are so thin you can hear everything! This is just a little bit of what you can expect. Homeless people in the trash everyday. I've replaced 3 car tires this month because of nails all around the parking lot. Dog poop EVERYWHERE. Don't move here for real. But the staff is friendly so there's that. read more

I've tried multiple times to send in applications, I was helped with Moniq. She was very informative and communicative. However this was not the case when I was given to Nancy, she was not very helpful and didn't understand my situation very well. I've explain to her that I've applied to multiple properties and they have no issues with one person not applying. She did not want to work with me, therefore I had to spend extra financial money for an application that was gonna be a denied. She still forced me to apply with no regards to my comment, I knew right away it was gonna be deny. She still pushed for another application, she wasted my time and money. The apartment is maintained so well and feels safe at all times of the day and evening. Compared to many other places I visited, the 1 bedrooms I viewed at this apartment were spacious, renovated and had vaulted ceilings- absolutely stunning. living here is just the best, perfect water pressure, my ac keeps things cool, and when it gets too cold I turn the heater on, and IT MAKES THINGS HOT AGAIN! it's so funny how things can be hot and then cold. But my water pressure is so great! it's perfect for doing things like washing dishes and even taking showers. The staff is also SO helpful. If you ask them questions, sometimes they'll answer them. Amazeballs! The girls (or women, I'm not sure what the proper term is nowadays) are so nice and always say things like "hello" and "how are you?". It's wonderful, I love West Fifth apartment. I noticed that the business manager left a comment. Well I am going to say that when I contacted the office about people parking in handicap without the proper signage, I was told that I can call a tow truck. That is not AMC Living doing anything about parking. As I am writing this, there is a car parked in handicap without a plate or a sign in the window. Also, if I am giving a water shut off notice at 5pm for 8am the next day, that is not a 24 hour notice. So no, that is not adequate notification of water shut offs. We are suppose to have 24 hour notice. This company is great at taking your money, but fail at taking responsibility for anything. read more

My boyfriend and I have lived at this property for about 7 months and we've really enjoyed our time here. The absolute best part of this property is the staff! Katy was so, so, SO kind and patient with us; it was our first time renting and she walked us through everything. The office staff was also helpful when we brain farted and forgot to give my sister a key before leaving for vacation! They provided her with an extra key and no pets were left hungry that long weekend. The maintenance staff is amazing; they are so quick to respond to our concerns and always polite. I'd love to give a shoutout to Marcos-- when a car hit our bedroom wall (an unfortunate accident-- what can ya do?), he was so kind and helpful to my very anxious and startled self. The building itself is nice and clean. We have had issues with bugs coming into our apartment, but it is the summertime. I just wish they weren't so big. I feel like we've also had quite a few issues with plumbing, which isn't too bad since maintenance here is great. read more

I have been living here for quite some time. I didn't want to leave a review but honestly, I'm pretty tired and irritated of this place as it has gone downhill from when I moved in years ago. This place is dog friendly which I am grateful for as I have a dog myself. As a responsible dog owner, I clean up after my dog when I walk her. I make sure she's not barking so she doesn't disturb other tenants. I make sure to walk her on a leash. Unfortunately, the majority of the tenants are not like that. Some walk their dogs without a leash, most don't pick up their dog's poop so there's dog poop everywhere. If you want to know what a dog kennel sounds like just walk in between some of these apartments and hear the dogs go off. It's too much. I can't open my window not sliding door because it's so loud. This has been going on for months and months and months and months and months! I'm at the point where I'm going to have to find another place to live. I can't live in a place like this anymore. It's really out of control. The dog barking is all day. From early morning until night. Sometimes throughout the night. So if you're looking for a quiet place. This isn't it. Yes, management knows and here we are still listening to dogs barking at all times of the day and night because of irresponsible dog owners. But hey I guess this is more for dogs than for people at this point. There's also ferrel cats running around everywhere. More and more every year. read more

Prior to stopping by West Fifth we had stopped by Mountain Springs apartment and had a really bad experience. We are currently apartment shopping and Katy's service has thus far been the best! She took the time to tour a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath and we were impressed by the way the apartment looked as it had just been renovated. Really nice complex and their gym was a plus. My fiancé and I were on a very tight timeframe to move in somewhere since our wedding was less than two weeks away. Jasmine was incredibly helpful and seriously went above and beyond to get us into a place there, even so much as to stay an hour late so we could get everything settled that day. We haven't moved in yet and I will update when that time comes, but I can't speak highly enough of Jasmine and all she did to get us into West Fifth! As far as the actual complex, the community areas, gym and pool are extremely well taken care of. The grounds are very clean and maintained. We're thrilled to be moving in at West Fifth soon. I lived at this property for almost 3 years. The location of this property is very convenient considering USPS, UPS, Costco, Walmart, Montclair Mall etc. The facilities like playground, swimming pool, trash disposal and car parking were always perfect. The on call maintenance service was swift. The maintenance persons (I am not writing their name to protect their privacy) responded on weekend nights pretty quick. The office staffs were always polite and helpful. The cleaning and gardening service was good, too. The only problem my wife faced was the laundry room. There were broken washing machines, and irresponsible people kept the machines busy after wash. We had to swap between the 2 laundry rooms to find working empty machines. It happened almost every other time we went to the laundry rooms. It got better after they started app based payment. I complained about marijuana smell several times. The management responded by posting letters on tenants' doors. They could not solve the issue. I could not open my bedroom window most of the nights. Sometimes it was so embarrassing when I had guests visiting me--it just shows lower quality of living. I just tolerated the inconveniences. I wanted to put 5 stars but taking 1 star off due to laundry room issues and marijuana smell from the neighbors. I hope the management will take care of the issues. I am writing such a long review because I loved living in this property. I recommend this property. I wish the property will do better and better in future. read more

I was considering renewing my lease in June of this year but today's hassle reminded me this place isn't worth it. I got back from the gym at 9am (nothing posted on the door) and left for work at 10am. When I went to leave my apartment for work, a letter was posted on the door stating all items from the kitchen, bathroom, and linen cabinets must be removed by TOMORROW at 9am as pest control is coming to spray for ants and cockroaches. If I fail to remove the items then I will be charged $250! I ended up working late and didn't get home until 9:00pm. So here I am...trying to empty cabinets and vacuum as directed at 11pm when I have work again tomorrow morning at 7am. This isn't the first time they have entered my apartment with less than 24 hours notice! I never said anything in the past because I was never inconvenienced to this extent. Meanwhile, maintenance requests go unfulfilled. Coincidentally, maintenance was supposed to come by yesterday or today to fix my heater but never showed up! UPDATE: came home today and found a new sign on the door stating the "2nd pest control clean out" will occur in one week. I was pleasantly? surprised to see I was given adequate notice. Again, everything must be cleared out from cabinets. I appreciate that management is trying to take care of the pest control issue despite never seeing cockroaches or ants. What I don't appreciate is the fact that so little notice was given the first time; as a result, nothing could be boxed up. SO IN OTHER WORDS, the majority of my stuff are lost in piles and it takes me ten minutes just to find toothpaste, and the majority of my lost stuff will remain in piles for another week. By the way, entering a tenant's unit less than "24 hours advance written notice" is illegal. read more

I hate these people! I put in a maintenance request 3 weeks ago and again last week and STILL no one has come to fix our bathroom sink! They're constantly putting notes on the door about doing work on the apartments and telling us to remove items from the balcony, but with very little time to do so. The newest and most absurd thing, I woke up to a notice saying that smoking is not prohibited ANYWHERE, including your own balcony, and doing so is a breach of contract! I've been here for over a year and the new owners have been here for a few months but are JUST NOW telling everyone that they cannot smoke anywhere on the premises! This doesn't make sense and if that was the case why are they JUST telling the tenants about it? This place honestly gives me such a headache I don't even know how to put it into words. DO NOT MOVE HERE!! The rent is high, maintenance is pretty much nonexistent, and the people in the office seem to be doing nothing what's except tell us what is we can and cannot do, not to mention, the last minute notices with very little time frames. Run!! Do not sign a lease with this apartment complex. I originally lived in one of their two bedrooms. The two bedroom wasn't upgraded, had crooked cupboards, eventually got a hole in the wall due to rain and lack of maintenance being done ( even though we made requests multiple times) and they never repaired it while I was living there. I finally saw them repairing it and you could tell it had mold issues. We ended up moving into one of their three bedrooms, same thing it hadn't been upgraded yet. We lived in the 3 bedroom for one year and the apartment is trying to scam us and have us pay to do the renovations and upgrades. They sent us a bill for over $1,500.00 worth of damages, with no pictures of the damages. Never did a walk thru telling us of damage etc. That's on top of the deposit that they kept. We contacted the company that the bill came from, asking for pictures of the damage and exactly what was purchased for the apartment that we supposedly damaged and wanted pictures and a cost breakdown of what we were paying over $2,000.00 for. Understandably, I wasn't going to pay anything without an invoice. Because I know it's all new upgraded closet doors, new flooring, new paint, new kitchen stuff, new bathroom stuff. The company never sent us anything, no pictures, no breakdown of what was purchased and they sent that bill to collections!! Why?? We never got pictures or a cost breakdown of what was purchased and we have an open investigation. West fifth, I really cannot fathom these types of businesses practices, having your tenants pay to do upgrades, to line corporates pockets. All that apartment needed was some paint, which our deposit would have covered. You wanting to upgrade the apartment and charge more for rent, those costs for upgraded bedrooms, kitchens, flooring, and closets should come out of corporates pockets. So sad that my credit took a hit when I'm trying to buy a house. I would really love those pictures and cost breakdown of what was purchased. This should be illegal read more

Original rating was 1 star in google maps but that was with the previous company that ran the appartments. Now the new company has been putting in a lot of work to fix what the previous company failed to do. So far they have been great and I am looking forward to seeing more improvements. The new office employees are very friendly and always willing to help. They DO NOT give any attitude like pamela (previous company employee)did. I want to give 5 stars but the pricing and how the appartment complex was initially built (drawers not built well, maint issues, etc) is what is holding me back from going to 5 stars. The area is nice though. Next to a park with a community center, near a walmart and free way access without the noise. UPDATE 2.13.19 Had a week notice for an in n out semi truck to come by, but barely 24 hour notice for pest control notice. This would require us to take out everything from the kitchen bathroom and hallway closet. Plus making sure that every wall socket in the appt was accessible. If none of this was done then a 250 dollar fine would be charged. Then find boarding for the pets on last minute notice. To top it all off, once coming back from work and picking up the pets, we recieved another notice that pest control will be coming back to do the same next week. So because we didnt have proper time to prepare and organize. All of our belongings and food were placed in the middle of the room and now have to wait it out until next week. So definitely not happy with this move by the new company read more

We lived at these apartments for a few years and sometimes had problems with the maintenance people, until Julio Lopez came to the apartments about a year and half ago. Things really started to change for these apartments and the tenants were happy to have someone that was concerned about their needs. He definitely brought a change that was much needed to West Fifth Apartments. He was so helpful, handled maintenance problems quickly, very professional, and had great communication skills for all tenants. Marcos Adame was part of the maintenance crew that Julio overseen, and he was fantastic, and handled stuff efficiently and quick. My experiences with this Maintenance crew was five star and I'm appreciative of the service we received. read more

I absolutely have to give five stars to West 5th as I feel a fair chance to redeem themselves, not from their own mistakes but from someone else's (Mountain Summit slumlords) is well deserved from the endless efforts I see them piling in. We all make mistakes in life, unfortunately the new owners weren't aware till after they made their investment BUT they are owning up to it and making proper improvements. Rome wasn't built in a day but the staff is doing an amazing job of keeping us posted as well as completing repairs in a timely manner. Having occupied our residence for years makes it a little difficult to come in and completely renovate, yet its happening at a fast enough pace that I can see the light as the end of the tunnel. Anyone who newly moves into a vacant unit will be pleasantly surprised with the renovations that have been made! The location is convenient for families as there's a park located across the street, schools within walking distance, your choice of shopping stores, a movie theater located around the corner and the freeway is a hop skip and jump away. Not to mention onsite gym, pool, bbq area, small playground and computer access in the front office! I can't end without mentioning Julio in maintenance who takes pride and ownership in his work. He truly cares and listens to the needs of the tenants. His communication skills are to be admired as he has kept us in the loop ongoing. Julio has stayed countless hours to complete maintenance issues beyond the new owners control. But for a temporary inconvenience you are treated kindly and professionally by him and his crew. Also the new staff in the front office seems pleasant as all my encounters with the either in person or by phone have been immediately addressed and with professionalism. Due to the previous owners negligence I have had several contacts with the new crew since December and they have made it go as smooth as one can possibly ask for. Oh yes as you can see I have quite a bit to say and I will leave you with the fact that things at West 5th are about to get much better as we look forward to being a gated community, new floors, the installation of new windows is in the making as well as many more improvements that the property has coming. In grade school my teacher always started me with an A and it was up to me to maintain it, I feel the new owners deserve that same opportunity, 5 stars for the courtesy and work I've seen thus far!!! read more

I've been living here going on four year The new owners have been so awesome they been fixing the apartments from pest control to having security all night they are putting new windows on our unit I can't wait for mine !!!! I haven't had no complaints the communication from our new TEAM has been great!! Kasey Macias our Community Director has answered all my questions also help me find another parking space for our new vehicle She was caring and understanding my situation of me and my husband working at night and right away fix the problem thanks Kasey. Also Julio Lopez our Maintenance Director he's on top of things I had an issue with my toilet right away he fix the problem with no hesitation very professional I always see them running around and being on top of things and most important working as teams Every time they're going to do something to the apartments they make sure to leave us a note in our front door. also no more lease it's a month to month i'm really looking forward for all the great New things that are coming into West fifth apartments our home where we feel safe I really recommend families to try it out. There is nothing great about living here. There is a roach problem. Residents or their guests park in your assigned parking spot. Residents work on their cars in the parking area which is not allowed per the lease agreement. Residents hang their clothes on their patio/balcony to dry. Drugs are sold and used here. Homeless wander through the complex and rummage through the trash. Trash is always over flowing. The laundry rooms are dirty and most washing machines are out of order or don't work properly. I had a load of delicates ruined because hot water filled the machine even though I selected cold water. Dog poop is everywhere. Residents take their dogs outside without a leash. Dogs have charged at me, and their owners always tell me don't be afraid my dog doesn't bite. Management is unresponsive when asked for assistance. I cannot sign into the online resident portal. I've tried resetting my password about 10 times, but I still cannot log in to pay my rent. I go to the office to pay my rent and cannot get an actual receipt for payment. Even though there is a park across the street, and a designated play area, kids still play in the parking area, which is extremely dangerous.There is no lease enforcement at all. I've seen used condoms on the ground in the parking area. I am happy that I will be moving soon. DO NOT MOVE HERE unless this is the only place that will accept you. read more

WOW! I have only been living in these apartments for a month or so, but I have to say everything is absolutely wonderful. The unit itself is so modern and beautiful, you'll be taken aback when you walk in for your viewing. From the colors, to the flooring, to the updated wall outlets with usb connections! If you are planning to come and take a look around, PLEASE make sure you ask for Dickson and NO ONE ELSE, if Dickson isn't in the office wait until he is! He is the one who will make it happen! No matter the case he will treat your family like family to make sure you're as comfortable as can be. The relationship doesn't stop at the lease, he's available for anything you need. Dickson is one of the best managers I have come in contact with, it's very evident that he is hardworking, and actually cares about the people he is working with.
