Although the project line items/deliverables were fulfilled, the overall project experience was unsatisfactory because 1) I had to spend too much time and effort proactively managing the project schedule, communications, and delivery of the project requirements, 2) he was difficult to interact with a few times throughout the project, actually raising his voice at me when I tried to hold him accountable for poor project management, and 3) I ended up having to go over his head (to the Angi home services rep) because he refused to include the plants he promised me during a pre-contract conversation; ultimately I negotiated a $250 discount for non-delivery of the plants. Another point is, overall, I don't feel like he advised me in my best interest. I didn't know what a breezeway was and didn't have experience with one, but assumed it would hold up to weather similarly like concrete. But we had a rain storm a couple months ago and a portion of the breezeway was swept away. Now there's a significant part of it missing. I will take that as a lesson learned.

I used this company about a year ago and regretted it. I hired this company, Jose, to level a 25…read moreft. diameter area in my backyard for an above ground pool. After agreeing upon price they started digging. I don't think they know how to level an area. They did not use a long board to make sure it was level all the way across. They used a shorter stick. - After a few hours they started putting tools away like they were finished. I walked outside and looked and said, this is not level, but he told me it was. He recommended I put the pool up and if there's a problem they would return to fix it. - After the pool was installed on the weekend and filled it was 6" inches out of level. The water was 4-6 inches higher on the one side. So, bad that the filter return would not work properly. - i called the number and talked to a woman who took the information and said they would send them out. They never came out to fix it. Subsequent calls were not answered as if they were ignoring the phone. I left message and no call was returned. - My opinion is they do not stand behind their work at all. I had to call another landscaper to have it fixed. I request a refund of the funds.

They'd show up late (or not at all), fail to send me the quote, or not respond when I contacted them. Academy was very responsive. It did take them a while, they were probably 2 months behind when I called so I had to wait for a quote. But it turns out there was a reason for that, they do good work and are busy. I had great communication with them from everyone I talked to along the way, from the scheduler to the sales guy, all of them followed up after the job was done to see if I was happy. They were able to do the job in 2 days (could have been one but they ran out of shingles the first day), and did a great job on clean up. I was a little worried, cause it's a very messy thing to have done, but they got just about everything picked up. I've had a lot of work done to my house in the past year, and I was impressed by this company. I would definitely hire them again for a roofing project.
