This sushi spot in Breckenridge is SO good. The sushi is really high quality -- we ordered fatty tuna sashimi, a dragon roll, atomic shrimp, and a shrimp tempura roll (can't remember the name). The fatty tuna was (obviously) the highlight -- extremely fresh and melted in my mouth. The rolls were also fresh and delicious, with the atomic shrimp being another standout. I also found out they have boba tea! I've been looking for a good boba spot in Summit County ever since my favorite place in Frisco closed. It was delicious -- not too sweet, and served in a huge cup. I like that the vibes are relaxed, but the food is top quality. This place was fairly good! Their tonkatsu ramen was tasty other than the chicken being a little tough. Their matcha tea was excellent, but they sell their matcha at the same price as their Thai tea.. despite getting FAR less Thai tea than matcha because of the fancy glass they fill to the top with ice. The Thai tea was watered down and terrible. Their Japanese omelette sushi was good, and their California rolls were good as well. They were extremely busy, but the server and hostess catered to us well and remained polite and friendly despite being very clearly stressed out. Great "hidden" gem. We wanted somewhere close to where we were staying --the village-- and this was it. Originally didn't have reservations so was looking at an hour wait. As we said, OK, no problem, the hostess said, 4 right? And sat us. Service was slow to start-- but they were busy. We were on vacation so waited patiently. Absolutely delicious sushi experience, in the mountains at a ski resort no less. I did the Omakase and received three very unique plates of sushi, all wonderful. I also did the Japanese whiskey flight. If you're into Sake, they have a very large menu of options, cold, hot, flights, ultra premium, etc. I felt the pricing was very reasonable for an excellent service and great food experience. Only two words of warning are they have a very limited bar menu and kids menu. The kids menu is basically just scaled down versions of a couple adult items, like chicken terriyaki. So, if you have picky eaters, they may be going hungry here lol. On the bar side, they have a few great beer choices, lots of Japanese whiskey and Sake choices, and.... Titos vodka (I assume straight unless you want it mixed with a soft drink as they have no mixers). If you wanted full liquor bar for cocktails of choice, this won't work. read more

Finally a place from my short list that didn't disappoint! Seafood of any time in our landlocked mountains is a challenge. I'd put the quality of Mountain Flying Fish up against Morimoto or Sushi Kashiba. Although a bit more casual it's exactly what you'd expect in a mountain town. We got local hospitality from our server too. He was knowledgeable but not in an elite manner as is often the case in some high end restaurants. Don't let the more casual atmosphere fool you, the price is consistent with high end restaurants. At Mountain Flying Fish you'll get what you pay for. Prepare to be amazed. read more

This was some of the best sushi I've had in a very, very long time. I wasn't expecting to be blown away since it's in the middle of a landlocked state but boy was I wrong. Late September visit and, once again, very pleased with service and quality of food. Wife had Sake, I had glass of wine. Both tasty and well priced. Returned for the wonderful sushi, but the service was horrendous. We came here for an early anniversary dinner and waited for about 30 minutes for a table, totally fine - we grabbed a drink at a nearby bar. When we walked in there were several open tables and other tables that had already been served appetizers or mains. We sat down and ordered a bottle of sake and first course (one of each - soup/salad). The sake delivery was probably the fastest part of our service. The soup came out after maybe 10 minutes and then another 10 minutes for the salad. When the salad came out we placed the order for the rest of our food (omakase, a roll, and some specific nigiri). We sat and waited for another 30-45 minutes before the four pieces of nigiri were delivered, and another 15 minutes before any of the omakase came out. We ended up cancelling the roll after we had been there nearly two hours. We would have ordered more food, drinks, and dessert.. but the server only came by to drop off items and practically ran away. Our experience sitting at the sushi bar the first time was a complete 180, but was also a year prior to our second visit. Not sure what went wrong or where the ball was dropped. There were more than enough servers and chefs standing around or handing other tables so it's not like they were understaffed that night. read more

The sushi chefs were so much FUN! I am a big sushi fan and for being on the top of a mountain, I am impressed. We ordered many of the specials to include the king salmon rolls and the nigiri special. Now, this is quality sushi. However they are pricing the nigiri at 1 piece so do not get that mixed up as many other places are 2 pieces of nigiri. You are paying for quality fish here and it was probably the best sushi I've ever had in my life. The fish was soft and melts in your mouth, the rice is fresh and they vibes are there.
