We had to wait for an hour to get seated as they were short on sushi chef (so we were told). Such a nice seating area in comparison to Silverheels where we hung out when we waited and the live music was way too loud. We were probably shouting at each other over the course of sushi since our ears had been blasted for too long. The food was ok, hits and misses. Kani was not my favorite; Salmon skin salad turned out to be refreshing. Spicy tuna was everyone's favorite, which was surprising. Service was good. The food was mediocre. Our waitress (older blonde lady) was not very attentive. There were 4 people in our party. One order we had to correct her 3 times when placing the order and then when the food arrived, two of the other meals were incorrect. One of the meals had yet to be cooked because she entered the wrong order. So three of us sat and watched the 4th person eat when it finally arrived. We asked multiple times for the bill. When our server brought the bill, she said 'I will leave this with you', but then stood over over our shoulders while we tried to look at the bill and pay. We had no intention of staying all night and were with our 2 kids so dinner is usually just order, eat , and leave. I think the supermarket does better with sushi and this place is seriously conflicted regarding if they are a sushi place or a pub. I don't know if the pub food is good but there is no particular skill with Asian food based on our experience. Most of the sushi was flavorless fish that relies on cream cheese or in some cases melted cheese to make it work. I'd recommend trying the burger instead. read more

We came here for dinner and we ordered quite a bit of food for a table of 6. Chicken lettuce wraps, cheese and crab wontons, and tempura zucchini was very good. Sushi was decent. Our server was an older blonde lady and we saw her maybe a total of 3-4 times. Took multiple asks to get drink refills. Our food runner was much better than our server and even asked how our food tasted. Our server proceeded to look over our shoulder as we were paying the bill and shook her head at the amount we left for the tip as if she was unhappy. I believe that if you serve Sushi and charge $13 - $18 for the plate, I am entitled to a real Sushi dinner and not an amateur looking roll with hardly any filling. If you want sushi made by people that simply understand that "sushi" is a piece of raw fish placed upon a ball of rice, go here. Otherwise, avoid and don't even bother. The slices of fish were grotesque, misshapen, substantially larger but thinner than they should be; the rice was undercooked and crunchy and had no seasoning as proper sushi rice does; they cooked the uni and tempura from frozen Costco bags in an air fryer behind the sushi bar that put off so much heat you probably could have just had cooked fish. The cleanliness of the entire sushi staff and restaurant is questionable. The uni saw served to the table behind us looked like cinderbricks...I heard the "chef" call the dry the uni about 20 minutes before it was served. I give a lot of credit to places in mountain towns but this place exhausted it. They also had such poor service that the sushi bar staff regularly had to shout across the restaurant "table xxx" while the poorly made sushi just sat on the counter...warming. Which is exactly what you want with sushi. read more

Oh MAN! This place "Fun Sushi" is awesome in every way. Firstly, they DO take reservations. Restrooms were well kept and clean, both the owner and host were very personable. Our waiter, Jesse, was super enthusiastic and accommodating, I wanted to try the seaweed salad (I've had some I liked in the past) he brought me as I ordered. Then when I admitted that it wasn't what I was expecting in term of texture, he brought me the squid salad to mix (like he likes it) to see if that made it more palpable. BUT alas, although the taste was delish, I couldn't get past the texture. Hubs had the miso soup and tune sashimi and he enjoyed both very much. Due to the Nozawa location in Dillon functioning on take-out only when my best friend, his wife and I visited today, we were both impressed and delighted to eat at one of my favorite local spots. The hostess and waitress were a delight to converse with, and satisfied our sushi cravings almost as good, if not better than Nozawa. We ordered 8 different rolls and a heated peach sake, all of which took less than 15 minutes to recieve on a Tuesday evening. It was fairly vacant where we sat, but it only added to the experience as we could talk freely. Our waitress was like Gandalf the Grey, she arrived precisely when she needed to when we were ready to order, and what I assumed to be either our sushi chef/owner of the resturant asked us if we enjoyed the food. I was massively impressed by this, as I can only remember a handful of times the chef/owner asked us how we enjoyed our meal at any given eatery. If I could give this resturant a 7 out of 5 stars, I would be honored. Service is excellent, the sushi/sake was some of the best I've had in the county, and all the resturant staff were a delight. No worries, we didn't feel rushed, sushi was fresh. We did, sit at end of bar by the window, love the view, but in winter gear, and then the windows facing west, got pretty.... Warm. If it wasn't for the partnership between Silverheels Bar and Grill and Kemosabe Sushi, I wouldn't return. The sushi menu alone is limited, (temporarily) and overpriced. Even when they return to normal operation, I feel that their rolls weren't enticing me to come back. Even if they bring back their full menu. It still feels as if I'm overpaying for basic rolls. I had to compromise the pricing and selection of Kemosabe, and felt that I ordered more from the pub menu than the sushi menu. The Spicy Tuna Tower was a lifesaver to my woes and just wonderful. The presentation of the wonton chips stacked with the Spicy tuna was admirable and that was what impressed us through and through! Yes, the wonton chips came with avocado, pico, sweet soy, and cilantro oil. We even felt like licking the plate. We would've ordered more of the starter but the portions were incredibly sparse, and $13.00 was frankly too much for barely fulfilling portions. Upon looking at their website menu, we were denied and missing out on 9 different options. I'm assuming Covid-19 was the culprit behind this? We glanced at their official Sashimi and Rolls category. There were only 3 options available, for sashimi, which were Salmon (Sake) $16.00, Tuna (Maguro) $17.00, and Yellowtail (Hamachi) $16.00. This is where I felt that I wasn't impressed with their prices. I never paid such steep prices for a few pieces of sashimi. The online menu for Sashimi alone has 9 whole options. The rolls menu sounded bland when I read through it. The rolls were already over $10.00, so I had to just accept the compromise and ordered the most expensive roll on their menu: Psycho Shrimp Roll. For $14.00, the Psycho Shirmp Roll came in (8 Piece) - It was the only one that I was willing to pay that extra $4.00 more. What is the difference? Steamed Shrimp, cucumber, avocado, topped with crunchies and Dynamite sauce. I learned it was a specialty roll mixed with their "simple rolls" category and it was meant to be overpriced compared to their "normal" choices. The space and ambiance: Small restaurant with a long bar and 5 or so tables. Periodic loud music, which made it hard to hear at times. Pretty clean. It was captivating sitting by the bar watching the chefs create art with sashimi. The grub: I'll admit, being in the mountains, I was skeptical of having sushi but the sushi was great. We started with seaweed salad and edamame. Both were a bit sweet for my liking but otherwise tasty. Edamame were packed with flavor and heat. The rolls we got: the all American, spicy tuna and two others (names are escaping me). The spicy tuna was ok but compared to the other rolls, it didn't have a ton of flavor. Could eat the all-American roll all day. YUM. Service: I think the server forgot our edamame at first but otherwise, we were very well taken care of. Oddly enough, we ordered sweet potato fries and they were some of the best I've had anywhere, and the miso soup was great, too. The Hair of the Dog is pretty much the best margarita you can get (fresh lime juice) and it's got a good kick to it. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We hadn't tried this restaurant before, and decided to give it a try since they were able to accommodate us without a reservation. The food was mediocre. We started with edamame, which were overcooked and thus mushy, and a seaweed salad that was more lettuce and carrots than seaweed. I had a Hawaiian Poke bowl (with tuna, mango, cracked peanuts). It was relatively flavorless, except for the won ton chips. Another in our party wanted to get the ramen bowl, but gluten free, and they had no gluten free noodles so she got the fried rice instead. A spicy tuna roll was ok. Two of us had miso soup, which they reported was decent. Service was somewhat lacking; for example, the spicy tuna roll came without wasabi or ginger until we asked for it. The ambience wasn't what we were looking for; since we were in the bar area, it was noisy, more sports bar than restaurant, and a bit run down. Prices seemed high for what we got. I've been coming to Frisco for years, and tried numerous restaurants. I'd have to rate this in a lower tier than most I've been to. read more

Fabulous experience at this restaurant during spring break with my party of 6. My brother lives in Denver and recommended it as he frequents it when he comes out to ski. The restaurant was jam packed and was running a little behind for our reservation (turned out to be only 20 min) but the gentleman at the podium apologized and offered us a complimentary drink at the bar while we waited. We appreciated the customer service. Our server was a young man that was friendly and attentive. Food portions were large and the food was very good. We had a massive sushi and sashimi boat, bao buns, sake, edemamme and dumplings. I found the rolls to be creative and very tasty. The owner stopped by to check on us as well. What an interesting place. It had psychedelic music, no Japanese chefs, and no hand rolls? I was craving sushi and saw a 4.5 rating on Google for this place. I thought why not? But because I'm spoiled from Texas food, this place fell short. I came in and sat for 5 minutes without being acknowledged. After getting our waters, the server kept passing by us as we were staring. Poor vibes so far. I got the psychotic shrimp roll and the octopus and cucumber salad. The roll was okay. It tasted very basic, I guess I cannot complain. It is a basic roll. It lacked flavor so I needed to order another side sauce, $1 extra. The octopus and cucumber salad tasted strange. It was marinated differently than any other restaurants I've had before. It also was paired with lettuce, spinach, micro sprouts, and Bell peppers. It was not my favorite nor didn't meet my expectations. The price for each item is pretty pricey for the basic items and everything else. They didn't have hand rolls and when I asked they said it would be the same price as a regular roll. Does that make sense? I'm getting less and paying for more. No thanks. The server that finally acknowledged us was very nice. On the bright side. I don't think I would come back if I was wanting sushi again. This restaurant is just okay. If you like average, I'd try this place out. read more

For being in the middle of the mountains we loved this sushi restaurant. The people working here we so friendly and nice. We were greeted immediately by everyone including the sushi chefs. We were seated promptly and our waitress came by a couple minutes later with waters. They have happy hour everyday from 4-6pm with some good stuff on their menu including rolls, drinks, apps, and sashimi. We got the miso soup, squid salad, tuna tower, psycho shrimp, salmon roll, and the rainbow roll. Everything was pretty good and beautifully presented. Bathrooms we very clean, private, and spacious. I had such an experience with this restaurant, and it was the waitress that took something that could have been good, to something that was one of the worst waitress experiences I have ever had... Older white women with darker hair.... avoid her at all costs and seriously, the restaurant should consider just asking her to be a little more attentive and polite.... We didn't get water unless we left the table and found her, then she came back and filled our empty beer glasses and walked away. Out of the 2 hours we were there, there was only 3 times she came to our table without us having to get up and find her. So the only reason this place isn't getting a 5-star review is because I've had a lot of great sushi before & this menu was lacking some of my favorites; the ambiance is more sports bar than sushi spot, which can be fun during the olympics, just not how I typically like to enjoy my sushi; and all of the people behind the sushi counter appeared to be white men (who did an amazing job! I just like to support Asian businesses when possible). Most of the sushi was great, we got A Lot (see pictures: left to right: Ruby Express, Seared Tuna & Sweet Soy, Monster Spider Roll (top), Super Spicy Crunch Roll (bottom), KJ's Salmon Zinger, Avocado Roll, Asparagus Roll). The super spicy crunch roll is SUPER spicy, even for me, so I ended up just removing most of the spicy sauce that was in a little dollop on top and enjoyed it that way. My favorites were probably that sans 3/4 of the spice, the Ruby Express (more traditional form of sushi), the Monster Spider Roll, and the Mount Vesuvius - I haven't had much baked sushi before, but this was actually crazy yummy. The seaweed salad was also great and good portions, and the Asashi beer was perfect. Really nice server & he brought us lots of extra ginger (our family is big on ginger). For those who aren't big on sushi (what!?) they can also order off of the other side's menu, which I think is more pub-type food. Came here on the Friday night of Spring Break and had excellent food and service. We tried the Tuna stack tower, yellowtail roll, Mrs. Perfect (spicy salmon, crab, and dynamite sauce), and soft shell crab roll. Everything was excellent, and great cocktails as well. We then decided to call the restaurant and while waiting on hold they ended the call. Luckily we called back and a nice woman answered this time, and told us it would be about 20 minutes to pick up, much different from what the host told us in-person. We came here on a Wednesday night around 8 pm and all the tables were full but they had a few of the Japanese style low tables where you sit down and are asked to take off your shoes. Normally I would like the authenticity feeling but it wasn't that clean and a waiter just happened to drop and break a glass right before on the floor leading to the table area so I was kinda afraid to step on some glass. The pillows they gave us felt dirty. They were playing some mellow alternative music in the background. The food was ok. We ordered some sushi rolls and it tasted good but at the same time I had this uneasy feeling it wasn't fresh and I might get sick so I ordered their chicken salad wrap and was satisfied. The prices were decent for the area. All in all a regular experience but I would probably sit in a regular table if we ever visit this place again read more
