Sometimes if you call ahead they can give you an idea of the wait time. Sushi is all great! Check bulletin board for specials of the day. My absolute favorite dish is the green curry! Green salad has a dressing that you just need to try. Indoor seating and sushi bar. Lots of local people. Outdoor patio seating. Bring a jacket. Returned for the wonderful sushi, but the service was horrendous. We came here for an early anniversary dinner and waited for about 30 minutes for a table, totally fine - we grabbed a drink at a nearby bar. When we walked in there were several open tables and other tables that had already been served appetizers or mains. We sat down and ordered a bottle of sake and first course (one of each - soup/salad). The sake delivery was probably the fastest part of our service. The soup came out after maybe 10 minutes and then another 10 minutes for the salad. When the salad came out we placed the order for the rest of our food (omakase, a roll, and some specific nigiri). We sat and waited for another 30-45 minutes before the four pieces of nigiri were delivered, and another 15 minutes before any of the omakase came out. We ended up cancelling the roll after we had been there nearly two hours. We would have ordered more food, drinks, and dessert.. but the server only came by to drop off items and practically ran away. Our experience sitting at the sushi bar the first time was a complete 180, but was also a year prior to our second visit. Not sure what went wrong or where the ball was dropped. There were more than enough servers and chefs standing around or handing other tables so it's not like they were understaffed that night. read more

Came across this spot by total accident. Was looking for food in the area and noticed this spot hidden on the top floor and thought we'd give it a go. Was greeted with a friendly a welcoming face, and offered immediate hospitality. Asked to sit outside and was offered a wonderful table and they made sure we were comfortable. Our server, Sydney, guided through the journey of amazing Japanese cuisine with enthusiasm and genuine pride. After being presented with a wonderful selection of options, we opted for the cooked king salmon to start, with some warm Saki and green tea as the sun retreated behind the mountains. Our ambassador (Sydney), next walked us through what the next steps of our unexpected (but pleasant) dining journey. We then had the dynamite roll and Tuna Belly / Toro. Absolutely amazing food all the way around. After more engaging, enjoyable dialogue and exceptional customer service, we were then recommended to have the red bean Mochi (which was shockingly great!). At this point it should come as no surprise that the owners of this establishment have a serious benefit in Sydney and their incredible hostess I could not recommend this restaurant anymore. Nice place. Appears to be Japanese owned. Great outdoor patio space. Good sashimi altho can be very expensive. 1. Seaweed salad-similar to most restaurants. 2. Miso black cod-good but the mango sauce added to the top is pretty sweet so you might want them to exclude it or ask for it in the side 3. Salmon belly sashimi-my husband really liked this. Good quality salmon 4. Kampachi-Japanese yellowtail I believe. $27/order of sashimi so pretty expensive n the cuts are small but it's really good. Served with a small color of yuzu sauce with big umami flavor 4. Plum sauce and shishito leaf roll. Very interesting and would be better was a handroll vs regular roll 5. I hate myself for not getting photos of our food because the sushi was beautiful and the food at this restaurant was delicious! We arrived early and they gave us a table right by the patio door which I loved for the breeze. We asked if we could do a traditional Omakase and they delivered! We had tray after tray of most of the fish/dishes on their specialty menu. The flavors were great, the people that work there are attentive and fast and we loved it. This is the best Japanese restaurant in town. Granted, there isn't that much competition, but this is hands down the best place. The sushi is fresh and delicious. How? I'm not entirely sure as yes, we're in the middle of the mountains. But it is. The staff is very friendly and the service is good. They get pretty busy during dinner time so I highly recommend a reservation. Or else be ready to wait. Yes, it's a bit on the expensive side. Based on my travels, Mountain Flying Fish is one of my favorite sushi spots, and a top restaurant in Breckenridge. The owner is a master sushi chef, highly creative, and the quality and freshness of his product is reflected in a full restaurant each evening. My daughter and I began our meal with a Spicy Salmon Roll, followed by a Cucumber Salad. Both were great, and the salad was beautifully presented. For the next course, we chose the Dragon Roll which was amazing, and is a house specialty. Our final course, was an order of Yellow Tail Sashimi. It was a perfect finish to a great meal! My girlfriend and I returned again tonight and were equally impressed with the quality of everything. And apparently what makes the fish so great is the owner cuts everything and works the sushi bar every night. Coming here from San Francisco, we were forced to come to grips that we would have to make certain sacrifices - one of which was the inevitable drop off in sushi quality, our favorite fare.. Mtn. Flying Fish is literally the best pure sushi place we have ever experienced (New York included). Unparalleled quality and artistic presentation. We always go with Chefs choice and Tet never disappoints. ALWAYS something new and WOW. If all you want are more boring rolls - go elsewhere. When someone tells you that the best Sushi that they had was in a ski town in the middle of Colorado, you would think that they probably don't know what they are talking about. However, this is my experience and my statement and I am sticking to it. How many places have you had sushi where they serve real wasabi? For me, this is the only place. I have been to Sushi Ota in San Diego, which is awesome, but Mountain Flying Fish was better. The service was more personal, I also sat at the bar. The food was impeccably prepared. There was real love in what was being made, not just pushing volume. I don't remember the price, but that is because work was paying for it. Nevertheless, I think that it was worth the cost. We were blown away by how fresh and how well prepared everything was (from cooked dishes to sushi). I have had the privilege of eating at some of the best and most renowned places in New York City, and this meal surpassed them all.
