The sign of a good company is how they react to a customer complaint. After my initial review was posted I was contacted by Mountain Home Services. They wanted to know my side of the issue, and they listened to my concerns and Brandon agreed that something was off in the bid/price. He wanted to do some research and said he would call me back the next day. When Brandon called the next day, he explained what he thought had happened. The electrician who had come to my home was new to Mountain Home Services and he needed more training on using the pricing software that they use. To do my type of job the software has two different types of installation. Easy access and obstructed access. The price I was quoted was for an obstructed access installation. It should have been priced as an easy-to-access installation. Brandon provided me with a refund. So that I was charged the correct rate, which was in line with the price I was expecting. Brandon also explained that he was providing additional training for the electrician on using the pricing software. I am very satisfied with the work and the price I paid. I highly recommend Mountain Home Services. I will use them again. read more

I used to really like Mountain Air. The servicemen are knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. I liked them so much I signed up for a "savings plan" which extracted money from my bank account so that I would not have to pay a lump sum when it was time to service the furnace. I will not fault the employees of this business. They were excellent. However, I do not appreciate fraud and deceit which Mountain Home Services is practicing. When I called for a furnace service, I found that Mountain Air had merged with another business and cancelled the "savings plan" that I had originally had. I had no written notice of this merger or the resulting effect this merger would have on my savings plan being wiped away. I did receive a phone call from Mountain Air and I was asked to call them back regarding some "changes." I do not remember any notice in the phone message of my savings plan being absorbed with the merger. Furthermore, I don't understand why there was no written notice sent out to consumers of this savings plan being cancelled and accumulated sums previously paid into this plan being absorbed by the merger. Electrical is just one of those things that scares me. I can plumb because, worst case scenario, you get wet. Electrical though? Nope. There is death in them there wires if you do it wrong. Cue Master Electrical Service. I needed some wire run through a basement ceiling and some outlets placed on the back of the house. Seems an easy concept but there is a whole lot of stuff between that breaker box and the outlet on the back wall. Master Electrical was one of the companies I called to bid the job and they were impressive from the start. First, they screwed up my appointment. Why am I okay with that? Because instead of lying to me they flat told me "we screwed up and need to reschedule." I appreciated the honesty. Next, they send a qualified, super smart person to my house. He bids the job, walks me through what they can and cannot do, and gives me an extremely realistic price. Not too cheap (that would worry me) and not to expensive (that would tick me off). I think their pricing is fair for what they do. Last, they send a great electrician to the house to complete the work. He gets it done to spec, in a reasonable amount of time, and does a great job. I had a good customer experience here. If I need work done in the future, these are the folks I am going to call. Next time I won't even waste my time on competing bids. read more

Lance and his crew showed up on time, replaced a storm damaged riser, the outside electrical service, the inside circuit breaker box and all the breakers, ran power to a carport shed and installed an electric car charger. Our home is over 60 years old and needed a total re-do to bring it up to code, replacing old and marginal components with new, high quality ones. All this was accomplished on schedule, at the quoted cost, and in the worst weather! These guys worked through freezing rain and heavy snow. The ambient air temperature on his arrival was in the single digits and he did not complain. He diagnosed and found what needed to be adjusted and got it done in no time. Had two 6 inch led can lights installed in the ceiling. Price $396.00 They ran the new wire up the wall from switch to can lights, maybe 20 feet of wire. $319.00. Dispatch fee. $49.00. Incidental expense variance. $9.00 two installers, 1 with 15 plus years experience and the other 3 months. The final price to install 2 can light in 2 hours with a minimal amount of material. 2 can lights + 20 feet of wire + installation = $773.00 Extremely high priced in my opinion for what they did. They had attic access. The job was at my 76-year-old mother's house and she has no idea about pricing so she signed the contract. I would have paid their fee for showing up and sent them on their way for that price. The work they did was a great installation but not worth what it cost in my opinion. Electrical gadgets are cheap and ubiquitous, however electrical work is expensive. Master Electrical called me within hours of my previous review. The lead electrician who was at my house called because he wants costumers to feel like they give a good value. Kudos to Master Electrical for watching their reputation closely. The work was done just fine. My lights are working as they should. My gripe was charging high rates under the guise "well, we told you before we start the work". That's factually correct but it implies consumer choice, which you really don't have after you take a day off work. Do I want to burn another day off on an electrical work price fishing expedition? No, and neither do you. After talking about their pricing policy, a manager offered to reduce my bill to an even $500, which I accepted. The trades are expensive. It's irrelevant that electrical parts don't cost a lot. There are no bargains when it comes to people. A journeyman electrician bills at $150/hour. Keep that in mind when you call any electrician. read more

My stove was "mickey moused" (hardwired) to the wall and blew the main breaker. I panicked and called the MES to help put a 4 prong plug in the wall so I could hook up my new stove. They were super polite and patient with me since I had to get approval from my landlord that lived out of state. A few back and forth calls later, an emergency electrician would be by my house between 7 and 9 pm. I didn't pay attention to the time when he arrived but once I got my new stove hooked up to the new plug and set the time it was 7:30pm!! I must start by saying I hardly ever take the time to leave reviews, but I had to commend Brett on his company's service work and his customer service and attentiveness. Long story short, I had numerous lights in my home that were not working and had Master Electrical out to troubleshoot...I felt the price (not given up front) was quite high and within minutes of my inquiry had a call from Brett (owner) apologizing for any inconvenience and promising to look into it. The next day I had a call from him reducing the price his (newer to the team) technician had charged me by over $350. I would absolutely recommend Master Electrical to anyone in need of electrical work and looking for an honest, family owned business! Long story... The technician arrived just before the end of the hour and a half appointment window they had given me (9:00-10:30am), which I scheduled for the morning because I had to leave for work thereafter. After showing the technician the issues, I asked if I needed to be there for the remainder of his service, to which he replied no. We were moving soon, so I explained I didn't care about whether or not the bulbs within various fixtures matched, but that I just wanted to make sure the sockets were operational. I left out a mixture of various bulbs that we had on hand for him. The technician called me a little after 3:00pm to tell me he had finished the work and explain to me everything he had done, which sounded like it included swapping out numerous lights within fixtures/areas to match, and he mentioned a couple spots that we hadn't originally discussed. Unfortunately I had to step out of a meeting to take his call, so I didn't have much time or feel like questioning when he told me the total was over $780, which I thought sounded very high, though I have little experience with electricians. I also know Master Electrical prides themselves on their upfront pricing, before any work is completed, which had not been my case, though I thought that may have been partially my fault for having to leave. But I decided to email their general contact us address expressing my feelings that the price seemed high, that I wasn't given an upfront price, and I was a little confused why it apparently took almost 5 hours. It wasn't more than 4 minutes before I received a call from Brett, the owner, apologizing for the experience. He explained that this was a fairly new technician to his team (within the last few weeks) and assured me there should have been upfront pricing given. He took full responsibility for the apparent misstep in training this technician had not received and told me he would address that and look into the work he completed to reevaluate the cost. He also explained that the technician should have been able to be there shortly after 9:00am as I was the first customer on the list for the morning, and wasn't sure why it would've taken all day either way. I hadn't been home yet, so he asked if I could take a look at what was done and let him know if I was happen with the work itself. When I got home, everything looked great, including matching bulbs in all of the fixtures/areas that were addressed. There was a box of various types of bulbs that were apparently newly purchased and leftover from the available package quantities the technician had gone out to purchase. I had told Brett about the discussion I had with the technician that everything didn't need to match, and when I spoke with him the next day, I explained that the technician had gone above and beyond to make sure everything looked perfect (which understandably may have added to the charged cost). Brett explained that this technician was somewhat of a perfectionist, but understood my request and had reevaluated his work to give me a new price of $424, which I felt was more than reasonable. More importantly was the time Brett took to address my concerns and the speed in which he did so. I would absolutely recommend Master Electrical to anyone and trust them to offer quality, fairly priced service. read more

We bought a home built in 1948 and had to do a complete renovation before we could move in. This required a great deal of electrical re-wiring, a new panel installed, and we even had them run cable throughout the house for our TV service. I've now had two great experiences with Master Electrical in the past two months. First, I called because we had lost most of our power to our home, our old electrical panel gave up, and some wires were totally burnt out. It was an expensive fix, but Master Electrical couldn't have done better. JD came out to give an estimate, and it was obvious right away he knew what he was talking about (we had already got a previous estimate, and that electrician seemed a little confused about the issue) They were able to get our power restored and life back to normal. I wasn't home, so I didn't get to meet the electrician that actually came out and installed our new electrical panel, but my wife said he was super friendly and funny! Then, just last week, we called Master Electrical about an issue with some wiring for some light fixtures I tried to do myself (The issue that actually caused our old electrical panel to die, but I still thought I'd be able to get the light fixtures figured out with a friend's help..) Trevor and Branson came out and took care of it easily. I walked them through the issue, and explained what to the best of my knowledge I had screwed up.. they beared with me, were so easy going and didn't make me feel bad for my incompetence. Although I had messed up the wiring badly, they didn't charge me any extra than their typical price for installing a light fixture. Since we had just done so much work with them recently, Trevor even went ahead and only charged me per room (3 rooms, 4 light fixtures) which was really nice of him, and I really appreciated the great customer service. Before they left, I had them give me a couple bids for some other electrical work I may want to have done in the future. They were more than helpful, and I learned a lot from them about electrical work. Master Electrical is my electrician from now on. I called them first thing this morning with a odd electric problem. One outlet in our living room and our overhead kitchen light wouldn't work. They didn't have anything open for today but got me scheduled for tomorrow. The problem wasn't urgent just more or an annoyance. They offered to put me on the list if anything came up for today. At 115 Ryan called to say he had a cancelation and could be here in 15 min. Sweet! He showed up took one look at our panel and already knew what was wrong. After a few minutes he had the problem solved and at a lower cost at what he originally quoted. He did have to break the bad news that all our electrical outlets are out of code and our wiring is dangerous. Apparently our panel has a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer from 1980 and is banned from the US. Fun! He answer all our questions and gave us a good time line of when we should be looking to replace the panel and update the outlets. Even left a quote. I called to schedule an appointment for an estimate to install canned lighting in our dining room and guest bathroom. My call was handled very professionally and I was very satisfied with their earliest available appointment. Austin came to our home and made a thorough inspection of the location of the switches, and accessibility in the attic. He was very personable and professional. He told us exactly what he could do, and gave us an on-the-spot estimate. We were very satisfied with the price and asked when we could have the work done. To our surprise, he told us he could start immediately. Less than four hours after his arrival, we had four LED canned lights installed in our dining room, one canned light in the bathroom, and completed wiring on an existing roof fan. We hired these guys to move a ceiling fan to a different room for us (fan was only about a year old). JD reassured us that once installed they would make sure it ran smoothly and quietly. Once installed it clicked terribly. We called them back and JD said he would never have promised it wouldn't make noise because he himself doesn't know how to balance a fan. They were both very professional all 3 days that they had to come to Cache valley to put in a furnace, air conditioner and run some duct work upstairs for us. They were very gracious about the task of running duct work upstairs because I know it was not very easy and I would like to say that I'm very pleased with how well it all turned out. They also helped locate a circuit breaker for me. Cody has come back several times to fix the water leaking from furnace and it appears that this last time he was here that it may be fixed. If you have a vexing electrical problem in your home I strongly recommend you specifically request Austin Barrett at Master Electric. They charge a bit more for their diagnostic but he is worth every penny. He actually did a thorough diagnostic and knew what he was doing. He caught a fairly simple problem and fix that other electricians didn't find. The other electricians recommended very expensive fixes that would not have taken care of the problem. I ended up having him do some other minor electric jobs like fixing a wobbly ceiling fan, while he was here and he did quality work. I recommend him without hesitation. read more

I live out of state an own a rental property in Utah. My renters notified me of a problem with a ceiling fan, and I called Master Electrical Service. Tammy provided great customer service taking my information and scheduling with my tenants to have the technician take a look. The technician calledme with a quote of $257 to repair or $209 to replace the fan. The price seemed excessive (we had just installed ceiling fans in another property for $150 per fan). I told the technician that I needed to discuss it with my spouse and get additional quotes. He called me back 15 minutes later to say he could repair the fan for $169. I was pleased with the discount, but they obviously inflate the prices. I will not use Master Electrical Services again. read more
